Very nice. Great service... tab bit cold but comfortable
Our favorite place to celebrate any occasion. The food is always delicious and the service is great!
We were seated upstairs for an adult family birthday gathering of 8 people. Our server was great. She explained the menu, made great recommendations and was very personable. However when a large group of 10-millennials were seated next to our table, the noise level became so loud that we could not enjoy our meal.
When I discussed this with management they said the only thing they could do for us was to move us 2 tables away from them. Unfortunately it still was too loud and it got worse as the night went on and they drank more. In fact, we learned that other tables in the room were finding the noise just as distracting and unpleasant. This overshadowed the food for us.
I feel that the management needed to be more pro-active in this situation. They should have explained to that table that their noise level was too loud and asked them to turn it down a bit. I understand that they were having a good time but it was at the expense of ours and others’ good time. As a result we probably will not be going back to the restaurant. It’s a shame that they lost return business of appropriate guests as a result of not calling-out the inappropriate guests.
Our go to restaurant whenever we’re in town or in a city where there is a a Mastros!!
We go often but last night was for a birthday
Jeff our server was outstanding and truly made it a wonderful experience. We started with the tuna sashimi and chilled crab legs. Both were as good as seafood gets. Truly the finest. We all enjoyed our steaks on 600 degree plates. You can’t miss the truffle king crab gnocchi for a side dish! We ended with their famous & decadent butter cake. The nest steakhouse in Chicago for sure. Oh and sit in the bar area for dinner. Live music and a fun atmosphere!
The waiter was very quick to recommend very expensive bottles of wine but other then that the service was good.
Would highly recommend this restaurant. Always a great meal. Amazing live music!
Waygu is only served in 9 restaurants in the country and your not one of them.. so get the right steak to serve in your restaurant.. I know a chef downtown Chicago and he said that your steak is not Waygu..Kobe is the best steak in the world..if you dont believe me Google it!!!!!!!!!!!!! I feel like we were ripped off with a false menu stating its Waygu and paying so much for something that isn't real. Do your research if your looking for this type of steak.
We had a fabulous evening! Christopher was an awesome waiter, the dinner was amazing and the service was the best.
Have to say I was disappointed in my last visit here. The bar area was a redeeming quality for an otherwise substandard night. The music was nice and the bartenders were attentive. However, once at our table we felt like our server was more focused and attentive to his larger parties. We waited quite a while to be greeted after he said he’d be back initially. He ordered appetizers, a salad, two steak entrees, and a desert. During the time our food was on the table our server only checked back on us once.
As for the food itself...we both felt like the filets were too salty. The wedge salad barely had any dressing on it. The lobster mashed potatoes were good. The key lime pie was sort of bland.
We had some of their cocktails and while they were a heavy pour, I’d expect that for $20 each.
With so many good steakhouses in Chicago in terms of service and food quality, i just can’t imagine dining here again. I’d go back for a cocktail and to enjoy the bar/lounge area though.
It was great! Amanda is a great server!
Bring your piggy bank!!!! But excellent food!......................................:.,
Very classy restaurant!! We were there celebrating my birthday. The food and service was outstanding. Seafood tower appetizer was amazing. I had the salmon, my husband had the NY Strip and we split a Cesar salad. We both very much enjoyed our meals and the portions were plentiful. The butter cake for dessert was delicious! We will be back for another special occasion.
Food and service were great!
Even better when we found the swanky and cool little bar up front with great live music.
We came for my boyfriends 40th bday. Our waitress was not very attentive. She was missing in action throughout our experience. My steak was so charred it taste burnt.
Live music was phenomenal. It really added to the entire experience. Super friendly staff. Delicious steaks!
Birthday celebration for my daughter, we were so
Impressed, better than any steakhouse that we have been to in Chicago!
The food was prepared very well. Taste, texture, and quality was great! The service was refined in every way. Very non-distracting but at the same time helpful.
My daughter and I have an annual tradition for dinner out on New Years Day. We were looking forward to dining at Mastro’s for the first time and were not disappointed! The service from the moment we were seated was exemplary. The food was fantastic. I had the Chilean bass, and my daughter had the petite filet. I’m still craving more lobster bisque! We sat in the lounge where there was live music (not too loud and perfect for the ambiance). We are planning to dine at Mastro’s again soon! I must say, I can’t wait! 😊
Happy New Year!
Went here for New Years Eve night. Service was a bit slow but I understand because of the holiday. They gave everyone free hats and champagne so that was a nice touch. Food was great but my chicken breast was a touch dry.
Went for NYE dinner and it was a great experience. Made our reservation for 10:30 so we were able to do the countdown and champagne toast at the restaurant. Very crowded but overall good experience!
New Year’s Eve. All restaurants are not at their best
The food was delicious and the server was very attentive!!! Will definitely be back for a special occasion...
Second time dining here, and it was a perfect experience. Crab cakes for the appetizer, an 8oz fillet and 20oz NY strip with brussels sprouts and garlic mashed potatoes for mains, and the signature butter cake for dessert. All so delicious. The NY strip was erred towards a rare vs the requested medium rare, but with the truffle butter addition it was hard to nitpick.
The drinks are strong (not overbearing at all) and excessive. They’ll give you the shaker with at least another drinks worth inside.
All in all, highly recommended. I’ve came for my brothers birthday and NYE and both times were great experiences.
Everything was prefect...the staff, the food and the atmosphere
My husband and I visited the restaurant on NYE for an early dinner. We had a reservation & did not wait for our table. However, we placed our dinner order & there was a few things wrong when the food came out. My husband's stake was overcooked & charred on the edges when he ordered the steak to be medium well with pink. The sides we ordered, one came out completely wrong. The steak had to go back & the side had to go back. This placed us in a huge time delay because we had tickets for a show for the evening.
The waitress only offered to take the steak back & correct the side item that came out wrong, she actually tried to convince us to purchase a pricier steak which we would have been charged more for. My husband did not eat because we were in a time crunch to make it to our event for the evening & this was our last meal for the year. He was only concerned that I ate.
I’ve taken my wife to Mastro’s 3 times already and it tastes the same as the first time. It’s pricey but for a nice date with the wife or girlfriend it is worth it. We split the steak and order 2 sides along with a bottle of wine. It’s one of our favorite places to eat.
New Years eve
Our first time at this restaurant. It was o.k., but not the best steak in the city. Had to ask for a coat check as none was offered to us upon our arrival and as we were escorted to the table. Our waiter had several large tables and was doing his best keeping all attended. However, the bus support was lacking. No plates accompanied shrimp cocktail to share, had to get waiter who also seemed surprised at the void. Getting water was also difficult. Perhaps as we were only a party of two that made the difference. Wanted steak pink in the middle no blood and it came out raw. The sea bass was good and also shoe string potatoes. Waiter did a great job on explaining menu, etc. Maybe it was just an off night for them.
food was good, service was good, thought it was a little bit on the pricey side compared to other upscale steakhouses we have eaten at in the Chicago area
Filet was incredible. Stick to the basics
Food wasn’t right, left on plate...better chicken at KFC
Good place, no dry aged steaks ok the menu typical of a chain. Nice live music
Fantastic restaurant!!! Ambiance was incredible as was the service and food!!! Our waitress was also outstanding!!! Highly recommend!!!
Just ok when compared to other Chicago Steakhouses. Ordered fillet medium well came out rare at best. Old dark style setting. Dessert order was lost in the shuffle. The desserts were comped but that was not necessary. Wet aged steak vs dry depends on what you prefer. I would not go back.
Food is excellent . Service was great . I still think Mastros ambiance is too dark . Love the Mastros in Scottsdale
The service and food is amazing! I highly recommend the lobster mashed potatoes and the warm butter cake for dessert.
