Mastro's Steakhouse - Beverly Hills Ratings and Reviews
I have been a fan for a number of years and while the food did not disappoint the overall experience did. We were seated in the second floor dining room and it felt like they had staged for Valentine's day. Our table was so close to other tables I wasn't sure who's conversation I was participating in. Add to that the live music, being bar adjacent, and virtual absence of light, a bus boy just taking things off of the table, and very top dollar pricing and you get a dining experience you would rather forget. Sorry to say Mastro's went from my favorite LA Steakhouse to last on the list. I won't be spending my money there again.
My boyfriend and I came here for our anniversary this past weekend. Overall, it was a great experience. However, I had specifically reserved the steakhouse section, rather than the penthouse, because I had heard that the penthouse has loud music. We ended up being seated in the penthouse anyway, despite having reserved a table in the steakhouse. The food was still amazing and our service was great, it was just really difficult to have a conversation due to the loud music and the tables being so close together.
Went to celebrate SO birthday. Bread was stale (not fresh). Cocktail was served in the wrong glass- for an $18 Mule I expect the correct serving cup.
We brought in our own wine and paid the corkage fee.
Don’t be swindled into ordering the $9 Pelligrino.
The steak was ok- mine was over. But I had no desire to deal with sending it back. The asparagus were plain. Mashed potatoes were good.
The provided a complimentary cake.
All in all- the steak was good. But that was the only thing that was good. Everything else was nothing to brag about.
Hate to put it this way, but an older BH crowd, full of pretense, that tries WAY too hard, (including a bit too much touching up around the seams with the local Dr.), trying to regain something they lost years ago...
And pricey, even for a steakhouse.
Having said that, good food, really lovely waitstaff, although the hosts and hostesses could have less attitude and a bit more of a clue.
NOT my scene. If you’re a Kardashian fan and that’s your vibe, you’ll love it.
Good food, though a tad pricey even amongst high-end steakhouses. Service was friendly, but lagged at several times. For instance, it was quite a long time before anyone cleared our first course plates, even though it was clear we were done. Not awful service at all, but Mastro's does not stand out in any way (neither food, service, nor ambiance) to really distinguish itself from the competition.
Very poor service. Flat wear not relaxed and had to wait and then finally get up to find a server who could bring a fork and knife...Well my food was getting cold. You don’t sit down a plate of food and then walk away without seeing if someone has a flat we are to use to eat the food. Unless of course you’re in McDonald’s. Additionally, the steak was incredibly chewy and tough. Absolutely did not expect that having paid so much money for a rather poor cut of meat. Will not return.
Mastro's in Beverly Hills is my favorite restaurant through the last 10 years I've dined there at least 20 times. Typically from the moment you walk in the door till you leave, the service and food is impeccable. I had a reserved table of 8 in the lounge which is my favorite place to dine because of the live music and the aura. We were told our table would be ready in 10 minutes upon our arrival at 7:30 which was our Reserved time. However after 4 trips to the maitre d stand for updates on my table, I was treated rudely and we were finally seated at 8:30. This was unacceptable to me. However from the moment we did sit down our service was impeccable every step of the meal was incredible as usual. The Lobster mashed potatoes the mac and cheese the bone-in filet, even something so staple as the cream corn was excellent. Everything was great. Unfortunately the treatment in how our reservation was handled will probably keep me from returning ever in the future.
Started with a Spicy Diablo cocktail, a delicious skinny marguerita. The thinly sliced seasoned, crispy bread was delicious. Starters were goat cheese and beet salad and crab stuffed mushrooms. Both were excellent, the lobster wad tender and tasty. The halibut wad on the dry side. Sides of brussel sprouts, sauteed mushrooms and mashed potatoes were great. Overall, an excellent place for a great meal!
