Mastro's Ocean Club - Scottsdale

I’m not sure if there is a new chef, but the food is different. Dry, flavorless and very disappointing. Our server was friendly and attentive though. Probably won’t go back anymore. There are too many other options in Scottsdale.
The experience was great. It did get a little loud dining in the bar area, but everything else was amazing.
Fantastic food, outstanding service, great ambiance. One of the most consistent restaurants in the valley, I have never had a bad meal here! Keep up the good work
Mastros's ocean club is a tremendous experience, I would recommend for anyone whether celebrating special occasions or routine meal.
So good and so much fun!
We went for our Anniversary. Mike our waiter was awesome. The best waiter I have ever had.
Service was slow. The waiter only took drink orders for half of the table before leaving. He made us feel like he had better things to do and more important tables. I ordered the halibut and is was so over cooked and dry they I couldn’t eat it.
We consistently receive great service and excellent food here. One of our favorite restaurants in Scottsdale for sure!
My husband and I have dined at Mastro's many times and it is our favorite restaurant in Scottsdale. When we are trying to entice friends to move here or just want to treat them to an unforgettable meal Mastro's becomes a " must do". The couple we recently brought with us are now looking for their new home and will be moving here from another state!
If your looking for a higher priced, excellent service and good food this is your place. We have been here a number of times and will come back again.
Our family of 12 celebrated my husband’s 70th and our granddaughter’s 8th birthdays at Mastro’s last Saturday night with a Seafood Tower and an epic dining experience! The food was Fabulous and the Service outstanding! Our 4 grandchildren love a fancy dinner and all it entails and the adults enjoyed watching them as much as they enjoyed the drinks, perfectly prepared steaks and sides and, of course, the amazing desserts, including the butter cake! Thanks Mastro’s for a dining experience we won’t soon forget.
We have been loyal customers at Maestros for over 10 years. We have seen a dramatic decline in the quality of the food culminating with this last and our final visit as a family. We started with the seafood tower which contained stone crab, shrimp, and bluepoint oysters. Crab and shrimp were good but the oysters were a combination of dry and stuck in the shell to flavorless and mushy. Worse oysters I have ever had! We did a split Cesar salad which came out very lightly dressed and sloppily plated. My husband ordered salmon medium rare. It came well done. The lobster mash potatoes were runny and oozing with butter(and not in a good way). The asparagus we ordered grilled. They came out like they were cooked by a kindergartener. We also ordered salt and vinegar fries which I wouldn’t recommend. They didn’t taste like they had any vinegar tang at all. I do give them kudos that our filet mignon was cooked correctly and had nice flavor. We have celebrated and have fond family memories at Maestros so it is with hesitation that I even share this review but since our bill was nearly $800 with tip I feel compelled to share our experience in hopes that others will have a heads up and perhaps that the Maestro’s management can take a good hard look at the quality of the food they are presenting to the public.
Expensive food that was merely “pretty good”, loud cover band that sounded like a mid-range wedding band. The bright spot was the service which was attentive and on-the-spot.
We’d heard it was a place worth getting dressed up for, but it was the same cargo shorts and polo shirt crowd you see in every nice restaurant these days. Probably, that’s just the way things are now.
What can you say about the food and service at this great Scottsdale restaurant. I had a wonderful Filet and others had wonderful fish dishes and the sides and desserts are to die for . The service is over the top wonderful with a team that is second to none. The ambiance however on a weekend is very loud and especially when the bar area has a very loud dance band . Some may like that but this diner had a hard time talking to someone across the table .
Service and food was fantastic! We will definitely be back.
The service was amazing, but the food left a lot to be desired. The $52 salmon was tasteless and mushy. My wife commented that all the food was very plain, which is usually what she likes, so this was beyond. I will not go back to this restaurant for the very low value and poor food.
Great server, Jarrod! Great food, rack of lamb, oysters Rockefeller;
Will go back for the food and service!
We had not been to Maestro's Ocean Club for a few years but it was just as I remembered it - Outstanding!! Food was outstanding. Seafood tower had fresh delicious seafood. My wife had some delicious fish and I had a great filet. Wine list was outstanding. We were there to celebrate my wife's birthday and the Buttercake birthday cake was a perfect ending to a scrumptious meal. Our waiter, Nick was attentive and knowledgeable. A real pro. A great place for a special occasion as it is definitely pricey. We'll be back.
There were children running through the restaurant and the party behind us was extremely loud. However, our waitress was nice and the quality of our food was exceptional.
The food and service are always top notch. Went for a 93rd birthday and was treated royally. We returned the following month and again were treated wonderfully. The food does not disappoint; our group includes vegans, pescatarians, and carnivores and everyone leaves raving about the flavors and dishes they ate. Highly recommend.
Fabulous Anniversary dinner! Couldn't ask for anything more.
My wife and I came here last night for a relaxing dinner. As always OC went above and beyond our expectations. Thanks again for a wonderful evening.
We had amazing dinners of Salmon and Scallops. The portions are very large. We loved the Spicy Mambo salad too.
Wonderful service. Ridiculous prices for the food you get
Bread arrived very late. Bread plates had already been removed, so no place to put it. Service was very good. Food was excellent.
Service and dinner were amazing!! The live band on Sat night made for an enjoyable experience! Fabulous job!
We celebrate our anniversary here every year, this was year 11. Our waitress Sara made this the best one yet.
Our favorite spot and would recommend to anyone.
Great experience and THE best meal in Phoenix. The wait staff was extremely friendly and did an outstanding job. My only critique is I wish I didn’t have to sit so close to the other people while eating in the table half booth dining room. Doesn’t lend itself to an intimate dinner.
The service was spectacular. Our waiter was helpful, pleasant and engaging. Our food was very good but for the price it should be beyond good. My husband’s steak was $58 with no sides. The meat should melt in your mouth. While very good, it was not the best he has ever had. My fish was $51 with no sides. It was also good but I never had chilean bass before so I had no comparison. I liked it but would not get it again for the cost.
Very dark and hard to read the menu. Tables are very close and you can hear your neighbors conversations.
Ocean can be loud on Friday/Saturday evenings so you should expect that going in. All Mastro steak houses are wet aged steak which simply does not proved the flavors found in dry aged meat. (Capital Grill is Dry aged) and that may have something to do with the inconsistencies I’ve found at City Hall, Mastro’s and Ocean, with there product, so you should also expect the steaks being a hit or miss! However, last nights dinner was exceptional, right up there with my favorite steak house, Smith & Lewinski (dry aged) We both had the 22oz bone in Ribeye, medium rare with bone marrow butter on the side, broccoli and Casamigo Reposado tequila! Great night... Thanks Ocean!
Duke is the best! 5 stars all the way!
Food was good. The butter cake which you comped for our anniversary was excellent!
My only comment is when the waiter would ask a question to engage in conversation, his eyes would be focused around the room and not on you. So one time I just stop speaking to them in the middle of my sentence.
I understand he’s busy, but really??
Attended on a Sunday evening with another couple for wife’s birthday. Our server could have been much more attentive. First time at a Maestro’s and honestly all the main dishes seemed to miss the mark and felt overpriced. The appetizers were good, but again felt overpriced. We have been to plenty of steak and seafood houses, and if we are spending the money, I would go back to one of them versus a Maestro’s.
Duke is a fabulous waiter, we were lucky to have him a such a wonderful place.
The food was amazing as always and the staff treated us as if we were royalty. Can’t say enough about how attentive the staff was and the only other thing that matched their effort was great the food was !! Can’t wait to take the wife back !!
steak tasted previously frozen, and this seems to be the case in the summer when there is less business
AMAZING!! The food, the service...everything. It was one of the best meals that I have ever had. I am not a desert person but you HAVE to have the butter cake! So delicious!
