The service was good, as well as the atmosphere and wine selection. The food was extraordinarily average, and that is being generous. The fish had very little flavor. My first bite of the truffle mushrooms tasted like a spoonful of black pepper. The “garlic” mashed potatoes lacked even a hint of garlic. For what we paid for the meal, we probably could have chartered a boat and caught the fish ourselves. This is not our first time to a Mastro’s, but I think it will probably be our last.
Great place, I have been going as often as I can, great see food and great steaks.
Great food & great service helped create a terrific business dinner.
Service was fairly poor. Had to get up and walk to the bar for my own drink. Not what I’m used to at this location or any other Mastros I’ve been to.
Incredible food and the service was absolutely incredible.
Mastro's Ocean Club is a place where you go to celebrate. The sunset view is fantastic. The service is good, efficient, although you can feel rushed since we were in the first seating. We only drank water and that was filled up constantly. We got the oysters, which were excellent.
Bone marrow was ok, average size, accompanied bread, a bit too charred for my taste. The Ahi tuna stack was more chips that tuna. Wife got a roll that was good. Son got the scallops, highly recommend. I got the bone-in rib eye, very good. Overall, the food was good, not great for the money you paid. You do have pay for the ambiance. It is too dark for my liking and quite loud.
Great place to celebrate my husbands 55th bday. It waa a very special night with great food, excellent service and a beautiful view of the ocean. The warm butter cake was amazing!!!
Overall it was a beautiful setting. The people were very nice & had good food recommendations. I enjoyed the live singers. Very good vibes. I don’t mind paying the price for this food or hospitality. We had a great time for my boyfriend dinner date.
I recently had dinner at Mastro’s Ocean Club in Malibu, and it was fantastic. OC - not so much. The crab gnocchi was truly not fit to eat. There was a very fishy taste, and it tasted inedible. The steak I ordered had truffle butter melted. It was delicious, but the gentleman who cleared the table spilled the truffle butter down the back of my boyfriend’s shirt and all over the chair. He didn’t realize it until we left - and smelled like truffle butter in a stained shirt. I ordered a cappuccino - was brought a pot of coffee. For $400 for dinner for 3 - absolutely not worth it.
I'm spoiled. Now I need to come back to try all the sides. We sat next to a couple on one side who had the twice-baked potato and a couple on the other side of us who had the lobster mashed. We ordered the wild mushrooms, creamed spinach and the gnocchi but now I need to have those other two sides. My husband and I have never had pork belly before so we ordered the bacon steak OMG - I want to eat that everyday. We both had the bone-in rib eye cooked to a perfect medium rare and robust bottle of wine and key lime pie. Sonia is amazing. You are very lucky to have her. Very attentive, professional and a gorgeous woman inside and out. We can't wait to plan our next visit - my mouth is watering already. Thank you for making my birthday special.
