Birthday and anniversary
Wonderful as always. We always enjoy our dining experience at Mastros and this was no exception.
I've enjoyed the Mastro's line of restaurants for 20+ years - Mastro's, Ocean Club and City Hall - and have never walked away disappointed. Whether for a special occasion or just a nice romantic dinner out - the experience is always great. My most recent event we were serviced by Randy - pleasant, engaging, timely and attentive but not intrusive.
Great service as always. Food was outstanding, too. Our go-to place when we are in Scottsdale. Noise level is quite high though.
Best food you could ever ask for!
Service a bit slow. Left waiting quite awhile between courses but was a very busy night
Very dark at table.
7 guys after golf...fantastic steaks and sides, great wine...impeccable service...fun bar scene...what more can you ask for!
Halibut was dry!
Extremely dark and very loud. Every single table of patrons used their phones to read the menu. The food was highly overpriced. Felt like a production line.
We were surprised as the poor quality of food considering this is a Landry property. Venue on price level of Vick and Anthony but food not nearly as good. Split Kobe tomahawk steak with my husband. Stake was tasteless, tough and very chard. Shoestring potatoes were crispy but, tasteless ... could have used some truffle and Parmesan to give it a kick. Venue was noisy... we were yelling at each other to try to hear.
Also property does not participate inLandry loyalty points which was very disappointing. all in all I would not recommend this restaurant
Everything was on point. Michael our server took care of us and made sure everything was beyond expectation.
The food and service at Mastro’s City Hall was wonderful. We sat just outside the bar area in the lovely outdoor patio, but close to the live music. It was quite loud and a bit difficult to carry on conversation. We will be back, but will request a table farther away from the bar/live music next time.
Reserved table was ready waiting for us upon arrival. Immediately sat and great service
I frequent Mastros quite often, few times a month. However, I go to the one on Pinnacle Peak. I brought my girlfriend to city Hall to celebrate her 30th birthday. I contacted them to let them know we were running a few minutes late however when we showed up there was still a 30 minute wait time. When we sat down our waiter came over with menus and told us to take our time we wanted to order drinks so when he came back we asked to order drinks. Then ordered an appetizer , the entree scallops which were decent, a little over cooked. After some point in time we split a steak and ordered lobster mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts. The lobster mashed potatoes were pure, puree it was very soupy like it had just been made and the only thing that came out correctly was the brussel sprouts. The steak was overcooked, requested medium. Since it was her birthday he offered a complimentary dessert which was butter cake which was probably at the best item that we had received that night.
This "gem of the valley", once again did not disappoint!. Live band in the bar, super energetic action oriented bar scene. Be sure to dine in the bar if you come here. Food was perfect. Classy service folks, big bucket cocktails. It continues to be the place to go in Scottsdale.
Excellent choices for everyone. Attention to detail and service was excellent. Great staff. Work well as a team and on their own for each step.
Service was outstanding and food was phenomenal. Took a little while to be seated, but once we reminded the hostess we were seated promptly. Food and service at the table were amazing
Solid food and services.
Good choice in the area
Food was very good but the bar for drinks at 5pm was a little high
The food was great as usual. The service started out great and then after we got our first round of drinks our service went downhill . The server was M.I.A. For pretty much after that. When we needed to return our meat because it was undercooked we had to fly down three different people to get what we needed and still didn’t see the server till we were pretty much finished.
Great meal...wine list is extensive but vintages are not up to date...
Food was excellent, server was great, drinks were good but a little pricey
Wonderful dining experience for a romantic night and special occasion. The food was incredible and decadent. Have the lobster mashed potatoes and rack of lamb. Incredible.
Requested a table in the bar area and had great table booth to dine at and people watch. Food and service on point as always!
Having been to Mastros (including this location) several times, I was highly disappointed with the service. Our server was tardy in offering starter beverages and continually late and lacking the service Mastros is known for throughout the meal. Food was fantastic as always but this visit lacked in the service department.
Mastro's is the definition of 5 STAR restaurant. The steaks are superb and the wine list has something for everyone. The service is excellent although they won't seat you early even if the table is open. This is a special occasion restaurant as it is very expensive. The cocktails average $18 each. The menu is completely ala carte with side dishes meant to be shared. The meat offerings are worth the $5 and up cost but a tablespoon of truffle butter for your steak is an additional $15.
We choose City Hall as the restaurant to use our $50.00 Dining Reward and wished we had used it elsewhere. This is just a place to see and be seen. We sat in the bar because of the live music but it was so loud the music could not even be heard over the cackle let alone be able to have a conversation with the person across from you. The bread basket was good but the bread seemed a little stale. We shared the spinach salad which was good nice crisp spinach with a light dressing, nice amount of blue cheese, bacon and hard boiled egg. Splitting it was perfect because even split it was still enough for 1 person. I ordered the 22 oz bone-in rib-eye medium rare which was very good perfectly cooked to order as was my husband's Kansas City strip. We shared the sweet potato fries and they were very disappointing. You only tasted fried flour! They were batter coated with plain flour which took away from the taste of the sweet potato and left you with only the taste of bland fried flour. For dessert we shared the hot butter cake and it was barely warm and had the hugest scoop of vanilla ice cream on it which was really overkill and on the side we were given whipped cream that must have been whipped hours before; it was runny and deflated. Service was good our waiter was very nice as was the busser. Several reviewers mentioned a 3% surcharge on their bill but we didn't see it on ours, maybe it's been eliminated due to complaints. This is certainly a pricey restaurant which we expected and we never have any qualms about paying the price for great food and service but this place just doesn't hit all the check-marks. There are too many other great restaurants at this price point in the area to return.
Food was great service not so even with two waiters.
Nine of us on a Friday night and it was absolutely packed solid in the place; the experience was top shelf all the way. Food was incredible, everything from the sashimi to the lobster mashed to the gnocchi exceeded expectations and the cuts of meat will not soon be forgotten. Everyone at the table left thoroughly impressed.
It was ok, but when you spend over $250 on dinner for two, it should be excellent. I wouldn't return but my hubby loves the shrimp cocktail and atomic horseradish so we have gone for his birthday the last 3 years. First time I was not impressed and didn't want to return. Last year we had amazing service. This time the service was subpar. I requested a quiet area and we were seated in the event room, which was quieter than the main dining room, so that was excellent. We had a team of two servers versus one server last year. My husband ordered a Manhattan, extra cherries from server #1. Server #2 brought it with a single luxardo cherry and extra maraschino cherries. A few minutes later server #1 came by and said he would get the luxardo cherries. He returned with 3 on a clear plastic toothpick. Later server #2 brought more maraschino cherries. Staff at a restaurant of this caliber should know the difference between luxardo and maraschino cherries and what garnishes a Manhattan. Pacing of the meal was ok. The shrimp cocktail was wonderful, hubby loved his chef's cut ribeye and my ribeye was cooked as ordered but not as good as the Capital Grille's Ribeye with 15 year old aged balsamic. Roasted brussels sprouts and mashed potato sides were tasty. The service did not make us feel special; there was no rapport. I'd chalk it up to Spring Training except our service last year was the same time, as birthdays are, was personalized and exceptional. The team didn't ask what we wanted for dessert - I have a gluten allergy and my husband is lactose intolerant. He was served the Warm Butter Cake a la mode on the house for his birthday. While a free dessert is nice, it isn't when you can only eat half (I had the ice cream and he had the cake). We were in a row of three tables that had birthdays and we were all treated like an assembly line, cookie - cutter and impersonal. We may as well have gone to Chili's. I have no plans to return, but will humor my hubby only for his birthday.
Drinks were too expensive. $25 for an old fashioned, especially before 6:00 was ridiculous
We celebrated my father’s 70th anniversary. Allen was our server. He was outstanding and the food was excellent.
Very disappointing for the money we spent. The quality of the food did not justify the price. The waitress was very sterile and stuffy, and did not make our experience fun. I would not recommend this venue.
Amazing dinner and such great atmosphere! The service is fantastic! We will be back!
It was my birthday and we received excellent service! I had the best butter cake dessert I have ever tasted! In my top 2 best desserts ever! Dinner was excellent!
Excellent time here, waiter Kerel was superb. The steak was melt in your mouth good, garlic mash was to die for. Loved it!
Excellent food. Very crowded but still was seated on time. Great people watching.
It was VERY crowded. we had reservations at 845 and got there about 8. there was no seating in the bar available and no seating at all in the little waiting area. we got seated right at 845. the table behind us were 5 rowdy guys... so loud my husband couldn't hear me talking. he ended up turning around and asking them to tone it down. after that, the manager came and moved us and tried their best to appease us... which at the end of the night we found out was due to his glass of scotch costing $350!!! definitely ask for prices if they aren't listed! it was romantic and a nice fine dining experience but now that it's of 2 my bucket list I don't feel I can justify spending $600 on dinner for the rest of my life
