I have been going to the City Hall since well before it was ever a Mastro’s property and have also visited many other Mastros steakhouse around California and Arizona. Never have I had a single bad steak until last night. I ordered the NY and it was very tough and could barely chew it. I was there with 10 orher people Nd decided not to say anything even though i should have. Didn’t want to be that guy at the table. Anyway my first disappointing steak at the restaurant. One more thing we ordered a creme brûlée and the top was soft. Was looking for that fire roasted sugar too that breaks like glass. Oh well can’t win them all.
Love this place!
Appetizers came out and were delicious. Cocktails were on point and came out at a reasonable time. Next we chose entrees & sides. 2 of the 3 sides were cold. Mashed potatoes and Brussels Sprouts. Macaroni and cheese was decent, but nothing I would get again. Entrees were hot and served appropriately.
Birthday dinner for my boyfriend and he loved it !
Great experience as always. Kansas City strip is our favorite steak at mastros
Rude front waitress, waited over a hour for our food and once manager came they only took off little items even though we ate at 11:00pm when our reservation
Was wonderful. They were great accommodating my 18 mo old granddaughter. Only problem was it tended to be loud.
Everything was great except for the staff using a metal bin to dump silverware in right behind my head. We were way in the back and they used the ledges as staging areas. So right behind me was a stainless bin and silverware being dumped in it. I don’t like having a $400 dinner and have to deal with sounds I expect at a Denny’s or something. Otherwise- good food, good service
Lobster was slightly over cooked.
Marginal at best.
A nice location to celebrate a birthday.
Questionable service and hurt stomachs
We had a wonderful evening, a beautiful restaurant, excellent service, perfectly cooked Sea Bass, and a great wine selection by our server.
City Hall never disappoints! We visited for our anniversary. We started with cocktails in the bar and they were so tasty! Then we were seated at our table as reserved. The waiter greeted us and wished us a happy anniversary without us needing to say why we were there for dinner. Our steaks were cooked to perfection and the lobster mashed potatoes and creamed corn were as decadent as usual. The waiter treated us to an anniversary butter cake which of course was amazing, but we also tried the seasonal cinnamon butter cake that was A+mazing!
BD - Had service issues here. Food was good!
Don’t come here if you’re looking for a nice, quite dinner.
Hay demasiada gente y mucho ruido. Los alimentos son excepcionales. Los cortes son magníficos. Hay mucha gente y muy ruidoso
We were there for a retirement celebration. What service! What a beautiful restaurant! Great food! The staff did not hurry us. We were able to enjoy a great meal and spend time and talk with friends we have not seen in a while. There was even a surprise dessert to celebrate more than 70 years of service. Thank you Mastro’s for making our special occasion even better.
Great service, great food! Will be back.
Server was very kind and helpful
Always a wonderful experience at Mastros. Even on a Tuesday night when it’s not bustling, they still deliver the same experience! Quick. Efficient. Amazing!
Mike made an everyday dining experience even better! He’s the most outstanding server I’ve ever had anywhere!!
Too busy with too many large parties for the available staff to manage. Noise level was over the top - texting would be more productive than trying to converse. The food was excellent. Won't be rushing back.
WOW!! Very impressive! The food was absolutely the best I have ever had! The service was way over th top, but not bothersome. Someone was always close by to be sure we were serviced! The servings were very large, so be prepared to have leftovers! We had bone in rib eye and lobster tails - YUM! We were underdressed (we came from a night hike on a mountain), and nobody made us feel out of place. Most people were dressed much more appropriately.
I had to downgrade my rating because the food was over cooked. Rack of lamb ordered medium-rare was served at medium well, and filet ordered at medium came out as medium-well. Too bad because you can see the high quality of the meat. To be fair, the restaurant manager took off the cost of the entrees. Otherwise, the tuna tartare appetizer was truly outstanding, and the bartender mixed a mean martini. Service was first-rate. I’d definitely give this place another chance in the future.
The staff did not offer to decant our wine, the used glasses, plates sat on our table until we asked for them to be removed. We were overcharged for a $90 bottle of wine that had to be removed after we discovered the error.
The service was great! But they were out of their signature cocktail (Old fashion face off) and had to substitute. The mashed potatoes were runny and the Brussels were a little undercooked. But the entertainment was great!
The service at the restaurant was subpar. I ordered a 5Az Japanese wagyu steak and he did not come according to temperature. They are a steakhouse and you would assume they know how to cook steak according to the costumers request!. We Ordered several martinis. The martinis were mixed up between blue cheese olives and regular olives. The correction for the waiter was to physically take his own fingers and take the olives And make the correction in that regard. It would’ve been more appropriate to essentially of taking both of those drinks back and replace them with fresh drinks rather than using his own fingers to change the drinks.I would recommend looking at other options for your steakhouse experience.
Always a gastronomic experience!!
Our favorite restaurant however it was the worst steak we have had from our multiple Visits, out guest and I both had bone in rib-eye, I normally have bone in filet! Our guest said ribeye so I followed, we both regret, should have ordered filets
I’ve been to a lot of steakhouses in Phoenix and elsewhere. There’s always an effort to sell up - better cut of meat, add on options, etc but it almost felt like hucksterism at Mastro’s. A bit disappointed in the steak preparation, especially for the price. Took my son for his birthday. We were both a little disappointed.
Amazing food! Worth every penny. Chris offered service like no other in his field. He was very knowledgeable of the menu. We will be back again!
Mastro's completely lived up to it's reputation. Excellent food and outstanding service!
We had a fantastic experience. Alan was attentive, helpful and friendly. This is our favorite restaurant in AZ
Great steakhouse and lounge. Food is always solid, as is the waitstaff.
As with most places these days, a bit understaff, especially at the hostess check-in. We waited too long to be seated, as did several other parties.
I'll be back...solid establishment.
It was my husbands birthday. It was extremely loud in the dining room. For a $200 meal there was nothing special. The steak also wasn’t warm by the time we received it.
Wasn’t super thrilled with our experience. When we first got there my daughter wanted to order a mocktail or just something more interesting than iced tea or coke. Even though it wasn’t busy and they had a FULL bar, he told her “they don’t really do that here.” We go out to dinner all the time and they’ve always been more than happy to accommodate us. Even when we go to Binkleys, they have something special for the non-drinkers. It’s ridiculous. How hard is it to throw some juice, soda and line together?
Anyway so the service wasn’t great. The rest of my family loved their steaks but the side dishes were just alright. I was told the sea bass was amazing. It was good but I’ve had better for sure.
We will not be returning. After spending $500 , I expect to walk away happy.
Service was poor. Food was good, but not what you would expect from a maestros. Will be going to the capital grill next time.
The manager who greeted us at the front was incredible. So nice and welcoming. Our server was nice. Didn’t seem that knowledgeable about their menu. Asked a couple questions about the type of steaks and didn’t have the answers. The Cesar salad was amazing, still kinda shocked that they charge for bread. And the steak itself was really good. We shared a 8oz wagyu, sautéed asparagus, and Mac and cheese. Steak and Mac were very good but the asparagus was so limp and over cooked. Seems like a hard thing to mess up. They gave us a free dessert for our anniversary which was a nice touch! The butter cake is so delicious. Overall lovely but I’ve been to this mastros a couple years ago when visiting and it was definitely better.
