My husband and I have celebrated our anniversary a few times here and have never been disappointed, which is why we continue to go. This time was a little different. Although the ambiance and service was great, the food, surprisingly was a bit underwhelming, not as expected. My husband did ask for his steak to be well done but apparently, EVERYTHING came out a bit well. From my salmon to our brussel sprouts to the butter cake. Like I stated, we've been there before so I know what is expected. To someone going for their first time, they may not have noticed because the meal was still good. But since I know how delicious it normally is, it was not that.
I hope this doesn't come off rude, I just want to give my honest feedback!
Great service. Too loud.
Dissert was not great.
It has been some time since visiting Mastro's last. Waiter and bussers were pleasant and helpful, but service was rushed at times and slow other times. The pork chop and lamb chops were overcooked from their requested and recommended medium and medium rare temperature. The brussel sprouts were undercooked and soft not roasted. The asparagus were tiny and skimpy. Thus disappointing. The managers and other visitors to our table were insincere. With such a large crowd, it appears it was difficult to deliver their normal excellence to all last night.
Great diner, great service! Scallops were amazing.
It was a wonderful birthday dinner for my wife and me. The service was excellent, and the food was mouth-watering. Huge king crab legs, and the steak was perfection. The butter cake was so good, it was to be savored slowly so we could experience the full taste and texture. If anything was short of perfect, it was the seating. I was seated so close to the person behind me that servers and patrons kept bumping my chair as they walked by.
Not withstanding, it was a wonderful birthday dinner for my wife and me.
Simply my favorite ever!
Still the best steaks and great crowd
Amazing ambience, food and service. Always awesome and consistent
Absolute disaster! Started evening with poorly, incorrectly made drinks. Steaks sent back twice as grossly undercooked. The offered to reheat”. Made management aware, but finally left because of incompetence, and never did eat! An extremely poor showing for such a beautiful place! I have never experienced this level of dissatisfaction before!
So honestly I can’t put my finger on it, but the experience just isn’t the same. My husband and I used to go to the Pinnacle Peak location often, but we moved to Central Phoenix and City Hall is much closer. I have always felt the original location is the best but we haven’t been there in over 3 years, so who knows?
The food is still good. The filet tasty and the martinis decent. The chopped salad had way too much cheese (I love cheese) and the creamed spinach was swimming in cream. So much that it was hard to find the spinach. The twice baked potato was too cheesy as well. They gave us a complimentary butter cake. Good but not warm enough. Actually it was cold truth be told.
We had a gift card which took some of the sting out of the bill, but it’s still a really expensive night for less than a 5 star experience.
I cannot begin to explain how satisfied we were with our entire dinner experience. We have been to multiple Mastro’s throughout the US and every time the service, atmosphere & food have been above par. Thank you Mastro’s for being our all time favorite place to dine!
Food was excellent . The noise was a bit loud as the night continued but it was a busy Saturday night . Overall though had a great meal
One of the finest dinner experiences of my life. Service was beyond amazing. Food was excellent. Highly recommend the seafood appetizer sampler. I took some VIP customers to dinner, and it was an evening they will never forget. Thank you for making this happen!
Awesome food and service. Thank you for a great night
Staff was rushed on a busy night and did not receive the personal experience expected from this type of restaurant. Food excellent as always. Energetic is apparently the politically correct term for loud. This restaurant is too loud and should not be considered if you’re looking for a relaxing meal.
Corey provided excellent service. My birthday celebration was perfect.
Wonderful meal, service was phenomenal.
Although the food was good my overall rating on the total experience was not very good. I don't particularly like using a flashlight to read the menu but, it was too dark for my eyes. I enjoyed the flavor of the food and would have liked to be able to see what I was eating. I felt the noise level was really high, especially with the pop music at bar scene level. We had to yell at each other to have a conversation. Excusable shortcomings for me since I enjoyed the flavor of my steak. However, the main reason for my low rating stands on service. The bussers and servers were very attentive but the waiter rubbed us the wrong way. I can overlook that he failed to provide one of our sides but I cannot excuse the attitude he gave to my wife and daughter. I had to leave the table to tend to an important phone call and left the task of ordering appetizers and drinks to my wife. She attempted to place the order with the waiter and he dismissed her and said that he wanted to wait for me to come back. I don't like making my family wait on me and don't see it as unreasonable for them to start without me. My wife knows her wines and what we like to eat. I am never offended with what she chooses on our behalf. But, the waiter's approach was rude, insulting, and chauvinistic. Happy wife = happy life. She was not happy and the waiter's posture detracted from our whole experience. Mastro's City Hall is better suited for a boys night but not a place I'd want to take my family to for an intimate dinner.
A little too dark and a little too noisy but excellent food.
Good but services were a little on the slow side.
Place was awesome!! Great ambiance and service in the bar area. First timer and will definitely eat there again.
Food and wine was amazing. Our server made the experience wonderful.
Overall experience was okay except unfortunately , I believe the quality of the seafood was less than what I remembered from my previous multiple experiences there . The sizes of the prawns and the portion of the Chilean sea bass was noticeably different so was the quality of the berries at dessert. My total dinner bill was $1200 with tip. Not sure if I’ll be coming back since there’s so many more steak house restaurants opening up that I haven’t tried ....Mastros was my favorite until now.
(Fantastic service, excellent food - great ambiance
The service was exceptional and the people and ambient was fancy. However, the food was not worth it’s price. I had some salty chicken as if it was cooked in the sea yet, the server was attentive in providing me additional plates which was greatly appreciated. In addition, we had a reservation and didn’t get seated until half an hour later. It was crowded, loud, and not an atmosphere I would dine again.
As usual ether food is awesome! Service is always spot on! I ordered the lobster bisque, there was lobster in every bite. I have never had a better one in Scottsdale. I ordered a twice baked potato. It is a HUGE 1# serving. My husband ordered the filet with sautéed asparagus, awesome. Be sure to request their bread basket filled with several amazing breads. If you have room, order their butter cake, to die for! Yum!
The music was too loud in the dinning room for our 7 person table to talk. Other than that a great experience.
My husband’s birthday
Went to celebrate my partner’s birthday and we had a great time. Our lovely server Darron was just amazing he would check up and make sure we had everything we needed exactly when we needed it. My partner ordered the chef’s cut ribeye and asked for medium well we both agreed his steak was incredible taste wise. As for myself I ordered the New York Strip and mine was also medium well except it was very crisp and burnt on the outside, so it definitely was not as great as his ribeye. Kind of felt like I was biting into a burned piece every time, my ultimate favorite was the creamed spinach and the lobster mashed potatoes will definitely be coming back and having those again
Even though we did not sit in the bar/lounge area, the piano music was so loud that you could not hear the other people speaking at all. It made the time spent there uncomfortable/too loud! If you want ambiance, this restaurant is not the one to go to.
Excellent dinner at Mastro’s City Hall. Great steaks, great Shrimp Cocktail, $38-Lobster Mashed Potatoes simply to die for. We could catch a patio table next to the fireplace, very cozy. Overall a wonderful experience but very expensive after all.
Amazing, the dessert took too long so we canceled but everything else was awesome
The noise was a little loud in the bar area. I couldn't have a conversation with my wife without shouting or having the person next to me hearing. Which I get, I was talking with my wife of 34 years about memories. The rest of the folks were having different conversations. So that could be on me. As a commercial electrical contractor I always notice the lighting. 95% of the lighting in your establishment we don't even use anymore. Just changing bulbs out to LED doesn't get it. Could use a lighting makeover. It's 2020, not the 90's. Think LED, linear and color changing.
Food and service can't be beat.
City Hall never disappoints! Great food, great place!
Start to finish, amazing food and service. Heavy paycheck at the end but worth every penny.
One of the BEST dining experiences I’ve ever had. From the appetizers to the dessert, amazing! The drinks are generous pours. The service impeccable! Overall....WOW!!!
Outstanding as usual - went just for dessert this time! Butter cake!
