Waiter was hard to find when we needed the check or refills on drinks. Otherwise food was amazing
My husband and I celebrated our anniversary on Saturday the 10th of April with dinner. The staff were quite attentive and did well answering our questions and offered helpful recommendations. We were seated in the back dinning room away from the main dining section. Unfortunately, we were situated just below an air vent which was blowing quite strongly. We asked the staff a few times if it was possible to turn the air down but we were both quite chilled though our dining experience. Additionally, there were three very large noisy groups seated in our same area. The food however, was excellent, I had the pan seared Chilean sea bass and my husband had the fillet. The sides were quite generous and well seasoned. At the end of the meal the staff served us the signature desert complimentary, and the kitchen had written happy anniversary on the plate for us. My husband and I both agreed that the food made up for us being chilly and the noisy atmosphere.
Steak was undercooked and served on a barely warm plate thusly not able to self cook to the medium temperature that was ordered. Second time in a row steak was poorly cooked and chewy. They have shrunk the filet sizes and eliminated the 12 oz filet and 16 oz bone in filet. Have discontinued the true shoe-string fries. Used to go all the time, but now it has lost its former form as a top steakhouse. Covid claims another victim.
Excelente comida y ambiente
I was disappointed with the food. Four of us ordered different items, and nothing we ordered tasted that great. Everything was overcooked except the lobster mashed potatoes, which I could have eaten as my main entree. That was an excellent side dish, and the signature butter cake for dessert was amazing.
However, will not dine here again for dinner.
We were pretty disappointed with the food and ambiance in the dining area. The crab cakes and butter cake were very good but our wedge salad, lobster, steaks and drinks were pretty awful. The lobster tasted under cooked and had no flavor. The steaks weren’t flavorful and the wedge salad was very dry and plain. The drinks were pretty but not tasty. The dining area was so dark you could hardly see anything. It could be brightened up a little so you don’t feel like you’re in a dungeon. Overall not worth the price and I think this will be our last time dining here.
Other than needing a flashlight to see the menu, it was awesome.
Had a great night here for my birthday, music was fantastic, patio area was nicer than I anticipated, drinks and food arrived faster than expected , waiters were extremely attentive. My guests and I really loved the personalized menus for my birthday and the birthday dessert at the end was phenomenal ( I don’t even like sweets but this butter cake made me change my mind) . Highly recommending to everyone already, best night ever !
Still nice but service was not up to previous standards. Waitress was less than enthusiastic to be working. Food was good/okay. Need to step their game to compete with new steakhouses in area.
They did ask if it was a special occasion and we said our anniversary although that was as fat as that went. That was the only bummer. Fun place
Must be a covid prob w service...my daughter didn’t care for the steak which was disappointing considering high reviews. Hot stone Wagyu and we got 32 Oz Tomohawk wagyu but both tasted frozen/old...wife was fuming...Asked 3 diff people that were clearing table for bread but no bread...asked third guy for our actual waiter and he looked at me like he didn’t understand word waiter. Bread came when we’re done w steak as well as second glass of wine. I tried to order butter cake but waiter wanted me to finish steak first..I just asked for check when he came back...still left 25% because of covid but they wanted a review so here it is...My wife was fuming and had me cancel Dominicks later in week because didn’t want to risk another poor experience at that price on our last night. Servers looked overwhelmed so think it was more of a management problem and understaffed w experienced servers w covid. Positives were the shrimp cocktail, French onion soup, and salmon sashimi app...those were all great but came there for the steak...I’ll give a Mastros owned restaurant another shot next time I come back after covid restrictions and fully staffed.
Felt like Michael did not have time to take care of us. It was Easter - maybe they were short staffed. Waited a LOMG time -twice- for a drink, and also to order. Food was excellent.
I really really enjoy dining at Mastro's City Hall Steakhouse and everything is always best in class. The steak is excellent and I live for the butter cake. My only nit is that it is just a little too dark in the dining area especially during the day. But! That is certainly not going to prevent me from enjoying a great meal.
GREAT food, cocktails, and service! Never disappoints!
Great service and food. Excited to go back again.
The first half service was decent, the second we were forgot about. Dessert took about 40 min, manager came to say sorry and walked away. Didn't offer any explanation or compensation. Extremely disappointed.
We dine here very frequently. Several times a month. However very disappointed by this experience. We were charged for 2 of every item we ordered - 2 racks of lamb, 2 filets, 2 lobster macs. We paid then noticed after the fact and had to wait to have this corrected. We were told this happened because our food was dropped. We did notice it was taking quite awhile to receive our food and then understood why. We ended up having time for only a few bites and then got it boxed to take home. Upon going home we realized that they had given us the wrong bag of food so we ended up with someone else’s leftovers.
Disappointed. We waited 20 minutes after the reservation time slot to be seated. Waited 30 minutes for drinks. Waited an hour for food. We saw our main waiter twice. The support team was very attentive. Wished they could have been our waiter instead. The food tasted good - but it didn’t make up for the very poor service.
Been coming down from Seattle for the last 12 years for our anniversary dinner. Always excellent service and food quality.
Great experience! Amazing food and service.
Mastros is my favorite steakhouse of all time, so the food definitely did not disappoint. I felt it was too loud in the restaurant and perhaps that was the reason it seemed like our server could not hear us, I don’t think he was intentionally ignoring us, but we constantly had to repeat requests. And at times we felt rushed and other times we felt neglected. Ok, the part the really bothered me was that half of our party asked for a separate check, yet he served the whole table the sides that only half of the party ordered. I would definitely go back, but if I get that same waiter, I’d ask for a different one.
The food was amazing! The lobster roll out of this world and the filet migon the best I've ever had. The only thing they could improve on is being prepared before they open. We had arrived 20 minutes early because that is when we could get uber and we had to stand in the bar area until they were ready for us. It was a little awkward. Being prepared and ready before they open and prepared for guest would be much better. But the service after that and the food made up for it. we were able after about 10 min to sit in bar and have a drink.
Totally overrated. I asked for the in-bone filet medium and they brought well done (meat quality was good but it changed the experience). Gotta recognize they didn’t charge for it. Couple of drinks we asked for never came to the table. Basic mistakes for such an expensive restaurant. Too many people
Fun hanging out in the bar.. Great service. All-around good feel!
AMAZING staff w/AMAZING food!!
The Bar service was terrible..we sat for nearly 15 min being ignored by 4 bartenders, they were busy but never any eye contact to give us opportunity to order politely, the lady I finally interrupted and asked if we could order was gracious and comped our drink, there were loud intoxicated men at bar being loud and one fell back out of barstool..totally Tacky!!
Once seated the waitress was great and dinner was Very Good but the Bar Experience Certainly..Lowered my Rating of Mistros.
You were Busy and Obviously won't miss my business..let the Low Class Rule!!
Excellent!!!
Getting together with our granddaughter for the weekend
The service was great until the food came out, then everyone disappeared. My steak was was way over cooked (ordered medium rare and came out medium well) but no one ever came by to see how our food was, so I was stuck with eating it.
Excellent food and service but the restaurant is definitely pricey. We truly enjoyed the restaurant and would definitely go back when in the area.
Overall very good but it was a 3 hour dinner which is too long
The place is very elegant and romantic. It was a perfect choice for our 1st
Anniversay.
Phenomenal food. Great atmosphere.
Got sick. Service sucked
We had heard many good things about Mastro’s, and were extremely disappointing. our appetizers and cocktails were very good, but my husband ordered the bone in ribeye and it virtually had no flavor. I ordered the fillet and had to send it back because it was over cooked. I have to say that the service was excellent, our waiter Alan was so accommodating, but for $275 + tip, the food should have been wonderful and it was not.
If you are expecting tables to be socially distanced DO NOT go to this location. Per Mastro's website "As we reopen our dining rooms, we will continue to practice and take part in preventative measures to ensure the safety of you and your family. We look forward to serving you once again." We were seated in the back dining room along the "booth" seating which had t tables for two -- which were spaced accordingly which initially was fine. At the end of our dinner the couple next to us was seated side by side and not across. This left no more than 2 feet between my husband and the other couple. As we were all eating it was impossible to wear a mask. We were there to celebrate a milestone Birthday but felt so uncomfortable being so close to strangers I had them box the dessert to go. I feel the reservation staff should not have accommodated this seating configuration so close to others VERY disappointed and will think twice before returning.
On a positive note - our server Alan was the absolute BEST! he was in tune to the pace we wanted to enjoy our evening he never pushed or gave the impression he wanted to turn the table on what was a vert busy Saturday night. The Lobster bisque was the best I've had since being in New England. I ordered the Halibut (I know this is a steak house) but I would expect if it's being offered the same attention to detail would be given it as a steak - sadly this was not the case it was dry and over cooked. But due to our seating situation I did not want to prolong the dinner by sending it back
Also, the music playing on the main dining room may have been OK for the bar but not the dining room - felt like we were in a dance club
Reminds us of what Scottsdale used to be. Charming atmosphere, friendly and responsive waiters, great food with fabulous presentations. Comp birthday cake was lovely. A little pricey but just about everything is so big it can be shared with a group! Had fun just watching waiters delivering the most fascinating orders! Great place for a really special event.
Quality of food has gone down by a lot unfortunately. It all tastes like cheap bar food but priced like a high end steakhouse. You’re much better off going to a real place like Ocean 44!
Food was tremendous, can’t say a bad thing about it. Everything just took a really long time...to get seated, to get our drinks ordered and in hand, to ordering dinner to paying for the meal.
Didn’t help we had a couple extremely loud tables around us but you could see our whole section was experiencing the same thing.
Premium restaurants shouldn’t feature sub premium experiences with the easy stuff (keeping glasses full/checking in on customers)
Crab cakes were dry and crumbled and salmon was over cooked.
