and superb craft drinks.
Pizza and pasta both delicious. My parents came to visit from Naples, Italy and they loved it!
"Mast" is authentic Italian pizza at its finest. Having spent a great deal of time in Italy, we have often longed for the authenticity that is many times completely missing from the broad term "pizza". "Mast" does it the right way. We love this place.
The pizza was really good, one of the best I’ve tried so far in Boston. Great service, very good selection of wine and desserts - absolutely recommended!
Food was good here and the pizzas are very good. It’s just the service was so lacking. After sitting down we waited about 15 minutes just to order drinks. Our appetizers came out relatively quick but our meals were just forgotten about. They were good once we got them but attentiveness was no where. It seemed we weren’t the only table that was experiencing this as I saw a few other patrons complaining about various issues. The place was cool but no desire to head back.
There was a problem and our food took over an hour (all we ordered was pasta). The water also was not refilled and the longer the delay it felt like everyone was avoiding our table rather than come by to explain what was happening or apologize. At the end, they took nothing off the bill. The waiter was apologetic but that’s not enough. Very disappointing.
Authentic Napolitano pizza and food, says my friend from Naples! Only place to get pizza ( among all the other dishes) like I would get in southern Italy. Fabio, our waiter, was awesome and so considerate and attentive to every need. If you get any appetizer, don’t miss the burratta!
Great pizza, and good service i think inhad a back luck to get a table on the back of the restaurant.. so if ypu go there as to be seated outside or near the bar.
Everything was fine and I would go back again. Just visiting Boston. I would need to go a few more times to fully appreciate the meals. But it was an enjoyable experience.
Friends visiting from Canada. Fun evening. Food excellent service exceptional!
Best pizza in town
We love, love, love this place! Cannot say enough good about it. Fantastic food, great bar, wonderful staff.
Food was excellent.
Very clean and wait staff was very attentive. Have already recommended it to friends and family.
Perfect night to eat out on the patio. The restaurant doors were open, so if the air conditioning was on, you couldn't tell.
Food was amazing - pizza crust was perfection!
Okay. I'll be honest: I read the reviews after I made the reservation, and that had made me nervous to actually go and eat here. I'm sure you, as a reader, are doing the opposite: reviews before reservation. As a first time goer I can tell you that the reviews seem unfair. Some things in the reviews are true, the waiters do seem to just stand around bored, and it wasn't totally packed, but its untrue that the food wasn't delicious. The restaurant as a whole was beautiful -- the inside was completely bare of people which allowed for the servers to just be standing around. Yet, the outside was full of tables. Might I add, the outside patio was absolutely beautiful. The friend I went with said it didn't feel like we were in Boston and he was right, it felt better.
I can also tell you that the food was kind of absolutely delicious. I'm a big fan of pizza, and have been to Rome, Italy, this past June. The pizza at Mast' felt like the pizza I had in Rome. The one downfall? I don't think my pizza was worth the price. In Rome, I could get the same pizza for the equivalent of seven dollars. I realize that that is unrealistic for American, let alone Boston, prices, but come on.
My other comment is about the service. Besides the idea that the staff were just simply standing in the corner watching their tables, they also seemed either really tired or spaced out. I don't know if it was perhaps just my waitress, but I felt bad for the woman. This isn't on the restaurant per say, but I would just like to put it out into the universe that overworking staff shows and dims the quality of service overall. She refilled our water frequently and was attentive, couldn't have asked for much more I suppose.
Overall, I picked the date night place and I won. It wasn't bad, I enjoyed it. I thought it was nice and beautiful and the pizza was delicious. So I would come back again if I was in the area, but not make any special trips. I wouldn't go out of my way to show out of towners either
Great to be able to reserve a table outside on a beautiful evening before a show at the Opera House!
My friends and I, we went to this restaurant for dinner on Friday night. Service is good, food is delicious. Strongly recommend this place.
From the moment we got there the staff was very charismatic and polite. The food was great! It was a tad bit pricey for the amount that you get, but well worth it!
Great service. Food was tasty. We had numerous pasta dishes in our group - homemade pasta. Dessert (chocolate lava cake) was delicious but portion is small; single person size.
The food was mediocre. All four entrees and appetizer were pretty flavorless. Salads were fresh and tasty. Had higher expectations. Had paninis and pasta and calamari. Perhaps it’s a better place for drinks and pizza?
Ravioli was smaller than I imagined butbit was good. Had a great time.
I love MAST! My favorite Italian restaurant in Boston. All their food is so delicious and their drinks too. You should try the limoncello spritz and their pizzas.
Really good food. Cool outdoor patio. Lacks the essence of what a north end restaurant in Boston would give you but if you don’t have the time to get to the north end, the food is really good.
We ate outside; we both had pasta, which was quite good and came quickly
Service initially was good and then tailed off a bit
Their pizzas are fabulous. We had Saporita, Porcini, and Funghi with Truffle Oil. All of them were really delicious. We were there for lunch, it was very quiet.

"Mast "is the real deal. This is authentic pizza at its finest. We love this place and the staff who work there. If you are looking for pizza made by a real pizzailo, look no further than "Mast".
We asked for steak medium rare but it came burned. It’s was bitter.
Pizza was excellent - real wood fired and freshly made. Buratta was also delicious. Prices very reasonable for the location.
Our waiter was excellent. Just the right amount of attentiveness and personality, fun atmosphere. We shared a pizza and caesar salad. Salad was huge and flavorful, one of my best. Would go back and try something else from the menu when we had more time. That's why I gave food only a 4, but what we had was very good.
One of the only truly authentic Italian restaurants and pizzerias in the US with real, quality ingredients
Excellent service and great location. Main dish was smallish, only 3 shrimp for fettuccini with shrimp and pricy for the size. Excellent Negroni cocktail. Bread tray was paltry- only 2 small pieces. Lacks atmosphere. Rode the elevator down to the men's room with a full cart of dirty dishes.
Food was decent but service was pretty bad
Wonderful authentic Italian food (just back from a trip to Florence so the food was familiar and comforting) and attentive and high quality service. The only odd thing was how empty the restaurant was on a weekday for lunch.
No pizza! At 6:30 on a Friday evening when I ordered pizza the server said “oh, we don’t have any. There is no more dough and it takes time to make it.” Really.....this place has a two page menu....one is pizzas based on their specialty oven and no mention of a problem until we were seated and went to order. He had chicken parm and enjoyed it. I took spaghetti vongole ... I was already disappointed I couldn’t have pizza so I may have had a bit of attitude but 6 clams and no asteroid of clam, fish or sea in the red sauce. I had asked for fra Diablo style it wasn’t a bit spicy. I found the spaghetti too chewy for my taste. Overall, it is just ok compared to other choices in the area.
Happened on this place by accident. If you are looking for reasonably priced good Italian and you are not in the north end you can’t do better. In fact, hands down this is the best pizza in Boston. Decent wine list and very good pasta. Arugula salad with blueberry vinaigrette. Yum. Service was great. Ambiance is casual. This is not a business meal place. More like a great spot to meet up with friends and enjoy a very authentic Italian meal. Don’t skip the pizza. Really. Yummy.
I don’t have words to describe how terrible this experience was. We had a reservation for eight, which we showed up on time for. We had 7 chairs at out table. We were ignored for over 20 minutes until we asked the hostess to send our waitress over. We then placed our drink and dinner order. Over 25 minutes later we still had gotten neither. At that point we left and went to the bar across the street where we saw many other people who had tried to eat at Mast. I’m not sure what the staff was doing all night since it was certainly not serving food or drinks, and it was apparently the manager’s fault - according to the hostess. I will never go back, and I really hope someone who actually knows how to run a restaurant takes over this space after Mast closes!
My family and I had a good experience here. The food was good, we liked the atmosphere. The service was flaky. Our waiter disappeared for long periods then totally disappeared. My son's pizza came and he ate it (and loved it) and the rest of our food did not. We asked where our waiter went, and apparently, a large party had arrived on the floor below. They apologized profusely, 4 staff arrived within minutes with the rest of our meal, and comp'd a dessert for our son, who had finished while we began eating.
But it was weird, just badly organized. if we had been told the pizza would arrive 20 mins before the rest of the food we might have been ok with it but the lack of communication and the waiter going awol in favor of a larger party was very odd.
The food was great, lots of flavors and cooked well, we all had a good meal. The cocktails we had were ok, but not sophisticated for a place priding itself on drinks.
yes, we would go back for at least another try.
Our waitress (Donna) was very friendly, knew the menu, and was helpful. The lamb chops were tender and flavorful. The steak and pasta dishes were delicious as well.
Highly recommend going into the city to visit "Mast"
Great food. Great prices.
