About Massimo's - Fremont
Massimo's has been a Fremont destination and landmark since opening in 1976. The name Massimo's is not only the middle name of our late founder but also means “great”. The food, service and atmosphere is the passion of owner Bill Rinetti Jr. We strive to create a cuisine that is fresh, seasonal and prepared with great care and also include some of our classical preparations including our Caesar Salad which is made in the dining room. The fare is American with bits of Italian influences. We have been featured on KQED "Check Please Bay Area".
Be sure to save room for one of Massimo's Flaming Desserts that have become one of our signature preparations.

Massimo's - Fremont Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I had dinner at Massimo's to celebrate our 22nd wedding Anniversary. We had a great dinner with excellent service from Steven, our waiter. The food was great as usual. I have been dining at Massimo's for over 30 years and I have never been disappointed! They also have a great drink and wine list.
We were celebrating my husband's birthday. The waiter was very friendly and well served. Surprisingly, we received a complimentary dessert cake from the house for my husband's birthday. Food was good, especially the lamp chop. It's very tender and tasteful.
My boyfriend was invited for an on-site interview at one of the national labs and I thought it'd be nice to grab a nice dinner after that - especially since we're both in the same area (I came to Fremont for work) and would want to enjoy our evening together before flying back to Portland and him Detroit. I picked Massimo's off of Open Table without any expectation as to what they may serve or have.
I ordered a Filet Minon and he ordered a New York Strip. I absolutely loved the filet. It's tender, cooked perfectly and the sauce complemented the beef flavor very well. The mashed potatoes are also quite good.
The table-side caesar salad was awful... wet and too much garlic. They put us in the middle of the room at a table where I had to move my chair in frequently to let the waitstaff get by. Used to love this restaurant. Server was very nice and attentive, but that's it. Way too expensive for the quality of the food.
The food was quite good. I did feel that the portion of rice, that was the side with my halibut, was very small.
Service was very good. Excellent Tirumasu.
The price of the dishes are way too $ for what you receive.
However, all around a nice place. Not the best location and the exterior does not recflect the dining experience.
Massimos is our "Go-To" favorite dining experience. Even through the years the Service & food quality is superb. We think it's the best fine dining restaurant in the Newark, Hayward, UC, Fremont area. We have been to banquets and have even attended Brunches. We even hosted our own Party at Massimos. It is the very best!
The last experience was so so starting with not so friendly greeter. This time was 180 degrees from the last. Very cordial and friendly welcome to waiting staff, and everyone was great. The conversation was not just canned but real conversation even through the ordering food. NICE CHANGE!! Thanks.
Have been wanting to try this restaurant for 30+ years; finally made it and it was worth the wait. It's not the cheapest place in town, but you get what you (or my date in this case) pay for. We had a wonderful time and will return. Using Open Table to find and make the booking was a dream. I think I'm officially spoiled. Sandi Lee - Hayward
PS: Open Table: I made the booking on my account but put it under my date's name. This would be a nice option to have ... hint, hint.
My wife and I decided to go to Massimos for our anniversary dinner. We hadn't been there in ten years and wanted to try something different than our usual places. Food was very good and service was amazing. Tatum was a great server and took care of us quite well and also gave us our space. I will definitely be back soon
Very good Italian food, great menu choices, nice ambiance, not too noisy. The veal scaloppini marsala was excellent, as was the risotto that accompanied it. Loved the meatball soup I had before the entrée. My wife said the sauce with the spaghetti and meatballs was very good. Staff was pleasant and cordial. Prices were as expected for a fine restaurant. I will be back for special occasions.
It was nice that the Caesar salad was prepared table side. However, they used a very heavy oil-based dressing and was not that good. The entrees were pretty good, but the price was a bit high. The ambiance was nice with all the wood furniture. There were a few larger parties that were quite noisy.
Jaime was a bore. Didn't try to talk to us, didn't acknowledge our anniversary, wasn't engaging, barely checked up on us. Shrimp cocktail & calamari was okay, nothing to write home about. Wife's veal chop was approx 16oz and was overcooked in the middle, so that 6oz was inedible. My scallop & lamb chop dish was okay, as was the kids' chicken fingers & spaghetti & meatballs were okay too. Dessert was pretty much the same. Total came out to be $200, which was to be expected, but the service was so lackluster that I felt cheated, so I made sure to give 13.5% as the bus person was helpful and responsive, otherwise I would have really made sure Jaime was aware of how I felt about his service.
Food was excellent, great Caesar Salad and Veal Picatta. The service was good, but very slow. We were seated in the bar area, which involved a lot of nearby people drinking. As is usually the case, they were very loud and it detracted from our meal and our experience. A restaurant in this price range should know better.
We celebrated two birthdays that evening, mine & my oldest daughters. Our waitress was fantastic but she was so overworked & had too many tables to take care of. Very unusual to see this at Massimo's. We brought our 14 month old grandson with us. The restaurant isn't very child friendly. The high chair didn't have a tray so my daughter didn't want to dirty the tablecloth so she asked the waitress for a plastic bib or crab bib, but she said we don't have any. I ordered the special salad with grilled peaches, wasn't good at all. It says it comes with candied walnuts, I didn't have one in my plate. Then I ordered the special paella. The rice was like wallpaper paste. I didn't want to complain our waitress was so overwhelmed that night. She was so sweet & attentive until another large party came in. I believe on saturdays more help should be there.
