About Massimo's - Fremont
Massimo's has been a Fremont destination and landmark since opening in 1976. The name Massimo's is not only the middle name of our late founder but also means “great”. The food, service and atmosphere is the passion of owner Bill Rinetti Jr. We strive to create a cuisine that is fresh, seasonal and prepared with great care and also include some of our classical preparations including our Caesar Salad which is made in the dining room. The fare is American with bits of Italian influences. We have been featured on KQED "Check Please Bay Area".
Be sure to save room for one of Massimo's Flaming Desserts that have become one of our signature preparations.

Massimo's - Fremont Ratings and Reviews
We typically enjoy dining at Massimo's for special occasions. You cannot beat the ambiance, food and service. On special occasions, like Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, etc., they have a special menu with all courses for one price. Yes, this is a higher end restaurant but well worth the prices for the food and service you get. We have never been disappointed with any visit!
Although my wife and I have dined at Massimo's many times our experience on Valentines Day did not meet our expectations. First, we didn't like the fact that only the prix-fixe dinner was available. Since it is the Lent period, my wife could not eat meat and she doesn't like salmon or pasta. There were no shrimp dishes available. Fortunately, lobster was available with the filet mignon so I ordered that and she ate the lobster. Another thing we didn't like was the fact that we booked our reservation at 6:00 pm and when we arrived there were few people in the main, nice, dinning room but we were taken to the back very plain, meeting room dining area...not very romantic! Although we didn't like our seating and food situation there was one highlight of the evening. It was our waiter. He delivered excellent service.
Bottom line....we will not have another prix-fixe dinner at Massimo's. And, if we can't be seated in the regular dining area we will not have dinner at Massimo's.
It was very busy as a Valentine's Day but the restaurant handled the volume very well. The food was very good, and service was very prompt. Water was refreshed continuously. They gave more bread readily and butter also. They made efforts to please and never hurried us, though it was a busy day.
While I do enjoy Massimo’s, we arrived for a 5:15pm reservation and were escorted through an almost empty main dining room into a back room where we were the only guests for the next 30 - 40 minutes and noticed the plush main dining room was still very minimally seated. Seemed rather odd. I guess I will have to specifically request the main dining room next time.
The service was the best in all of Calif. I had trouble with a few things I ordered as I am food sensitive and it was handled in the most gracious, pleasing and professional way I have ever experienced. I ended up having the best lunch in years ! The Host and Server both made me feel great. I loved being able to talk to my friend and hear her as the noise level was so low. It is old school white table clothes and booths and great abundant food ! Thank you.
NYE special menu was nothing special. We were very disappointed. My husband had sea bass which was the best of our three entrees. Our daughter had the short ribs which were cooked well but delivered to the table at room temperature...not hot.
I had the pork chop which had a fake looking char on it for the rest of the pork chop was almost white.
The worst of it was the polenta, which was grainy and tasteless.
Desserts were bland and flavorless. The creme brûlée was also grainy.
Service was somewhat attentive.
We thought about trying them again with their regular menu. It will take a lot for me to go back.
Massimo's is one of the best restaurants in Fremont. And they have a few unique dishes. One of my favorites is the veal chop. It's like a ribeeye, but only from veal. And it's delicious. All the food from the appetizers to the salads, entrees and desserts, are really great. We're never disappointed at Massimo's.
This was our fourth year dining for Xmas eve, it's always my husband and I, we brought a friend who was on his own, and as always it was wonderful. Each year the menu is beautifully designed, and different. A few favorites, and always something new... I had a beautiful pork chop, on a bed of thyme polenta with pear chutney... we visit here yearly for our anniversary, birthdays and of course will be back next year for Xmas Eve!
brought friends from NC and was disappointed. service was very slow, my seabass was over cooked and rubbery. my guest ordered chicken picata and asked for the same sauce on his pasta and got marinara. overall it was very disappointing as I suggested on bringing them over
