Came for birthday celebration, barely acknowledged despite noting on reservation. One of "nicest" restaurants in Fremont. White table clothes, nice lighting, tables sufficiently away from one another. Food OK - warm, NOT hot even though on Tuesday evening which I thought would be a slow evening. Calamari and zucchini appetizers where tough/overcooked and almost looked burnt. Dinner was OK, risotto that came with meal was dry and not creamy....Dessert was better
Perfect restaurant for celebrating a special occasion. Both food and service were great and the portions were generous. This is the first time we've visited this place. We enjoyed it so much, we'll be visiting it again in the future.
Our waiter did his best to serve. Somehow the chef did not know what was on the menu. A dungeness crab with swiss cheese came OUT AS A CRAB SALAD sandwich, with more vegetables than crab. Not what was ordered. The waiter brought the sandwich back to the kitchen and I was then presented with two slices of bread one with chopped crab salad and one with Swiss cheese Very disappointing as the service in this restaurant is usually perfect
It's was a very good restaurant (a little bit too expensive) with a good food and good service. Everybody out of our group of seven was happy with main course and dessert. I was a little bit disappointed with calamari and shrimps but Carpaccio was amazing.
Always amazing food and service
The food at Massimo's is incredible! I had the fish special that was see bass over linguine. The service was great. I will definitely go back!
Great food, great service!
All good! Interesting gem in Fremont!
Friendly atmosphere frequented by locals. Food is flavorful with a varied menu of pasta, seafood. Nice staff, cozy atmosphere in the bar area. Easy, friendly and good food.
Risotto was excellent, pasta very good. Had to send back the cocktail.
Service was outstanding. Overall a good dining experience.
The Salad was great, Scaloppine was good. The Saltibocca was very tasty but salty, maybe from the Prosciutto, did not taste the sage however.. Highlights, the salad, bread, espresso done with Amaretto & lemon. and dessert. Did not try the soup.
We typically enjoy dining at Massimo's for special occasions. You cannot beat the ambiance, food and service. On special occasions, like Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, etc., they have a special menu with all courses for one price. Yes, this is a higher end restaurant but well worth the prices for the food and service you get. We have never been disappointed with any visit!
2nd visit disappointed. Will not come again. Sub par service. Appetizer arrived after entree. My food was served to someone else and then put in front of me. Would have liked a bit more attention to detail on Valentine’s Day. Regret bringing my loved on there. Not sure why this occurred don’t want to assume any bias. Would never recommend for any occasion. Would not come there again even if it was free. Service matters to all.
Great service. Awesome food. Special ocasión. Valentine Day
Great service, great food. My Wife and I have never had a bad meal and/or experience at Massimo’s. Look forward to our next experience hopefully in the near future. Would recommend to all.
Although my wife and I have dined at Massimo's many times our experience on Valentines Day did not meet our expectations. First, we didn't like the fact that only the prix-fixe dinner was available. Since it is the Lent period, my wife could not eat meat and she doesn't like salmon or pasta. There were no shrimp dishes available. Fortunately, lobster was available with the filet mignon so I ordered that and she ate the lobster. Another thing we didn't like was the fact that we booked our reservation at 6:00 pm and when we arrived there were few people in the main, nice, dinning room but we were taken to the back very plain, meeting room dining area...not very romantic! Although we didn't like our seating and food situation there was one highlight of the evening. It was our waiter. He delivered excellent service.
Bottom line....we will not have another prix-fixe dinner at Massimo's. And, if we can't be seated in the regular dining area we will not have dinner at Massimo's.
Massimo's is one of the best restaurants in Fremont. It is our go-to nice restaurant.
It was very busy as a Valentine's Day but the restaurant handled the volume very well. The food was very good, and service was very prompt. Water was refreshed continuously. They gave more bread readily and butter also. They made efforts to please and never hurried us, though it was a busy day.
Great service and food as always.
A Fremont institution, with great food, great service and a super bartender who knows how to mix a great cocktail. Never had a bad meal here, and it continues to be a go to spot even though I no longer live in Fremont.
Everything was acceptable except the seating was too close to others. Conversations from both neighboring tables were too easily overheard and interfered with our conversation.
everybody was super friendly and the service was awesome, the food was fabulous, the ambiance was great....I would recommend this place to everybody, no matter what the occasion is...we will be returning for another dinner out
We love the food. Although it doesn't feel very welcoming or cozy. The service was fine but we never feel particularly special here. It's very matter of fact for us.
While I do enjoy Massimo’s, we arrived for a 5:15pm reservation and were escorted through an almost empty main dining room into a back room where we were the only guests for the next 30 - 40 minutes and noticed the plush main dining room was still very minimally seated. Seemed rather odd. I guess I will have to specifically request the main dining room next time.
It was our first time at Massimo’s and we really enjoyed everything including food and drinks. I would definitely visit this restaurant again.
Best restaurant in Fremont.
David our waiter did a fantastic job as usual! The dinner was excellent.
Outstanding service. Waiter was fantastic. Great food. Went there for my wifes' birthday and a good time was had by all.
One of our regulars.. Not cheap but food and service makes up for the $$. Was good to see Ramon back as manager. He runs a tight ship and makes a great Banana's Foster. Our waiter Jaime was professional as always. All in all, a nice night
5 of us had a great experience Saturday night. Shrimp Risotto was excellant as was everything else. Good service Friendly Hostess and Waiters. Always love coming here
Once again, Massimo's proves it is the best place to eat in Fremont. Excellent cooking and presentation, great service, and a warm atmosphere. We have been going to Massimo's for over 20 years, and it has never disappointed us.
The service was the best in all of Calif. I had trouble with a few things I ordered as I am food sensitive and it was handled in the most gracious, pleasing and professional way I have ever experienced. I ended up having the best lunch in years ! The Host and Server both made me feel great. I loved being able to talk to my friend and hear her as the noise level was so low. It is old school white table clothes and booths and great abundant food ! Thank you.
Very slow service. Took thirty minutes after we were seated to be even asked for drinks or cocktails. Dinner came an hour after the drinks were served.
Service was excellent, old style of Caesar salads made table side. Unfortunately, food was served warm, not piping hot. Nothing extraordinary. Good meal out, but nothing special.
It's an ok place to go if you are in the Fremont, CA area. We heard about the restaurant when watching Check Please Bay Area. The service is good and the restaurant has been around for a while.
The menu is excellent. Rack of Lamb and Veal Marsala are delicious. Deserts are freshly made and wonderful
always a great experience--great food-service setting---a pleasure to dine here as a matter of fact my wife and I drive down from moraga to dine here--
5 stars to billy and the gang
What a great place. The second we entered we were treated like family. Our server, Steven, was the best. He took care of everything from start to finish. Lots of food, reasonable price, worth the drive.
Service and food were good . I had noted a birthday request and unfortunately it was ignored
NYE special menu was nothing special. We were very disappointed. My husband had sea bass which was the best of our three entrees. Our daughter had the short ribs which were cooked well but delivered to the table at room temperature...not hot.
I had the pork chop which had a fake looking char on it for the rest of the pork chop was almost white.
The worst of it was the polenta, which was grainy and tasteless.
Desserts were bland and flavorless. The creme brûlée was also grainy.
Service was somewhat attentive.
We thought about trying them again with their regular menu. It will take a lot for me to go back.
