Portions did seem a little small, however the flavors made up for it. Definitely recommend the halibut, it was a special and sooo good. The cocktails were also really tasty. I did feel like it was a little loud. We went with another couple and sometimes it seemed hard to carry on a conversation. All that being said we will be back again soon!!!
Excellent service despite a busy Friday evening. Loved the cannelloni.
Very convenient to the Lesher Theatre. We took our granddaughter here after a show.
The food was very good as was the service.
Great dinner and great service, as always.
I've been coming here for years... one of my favorites. Great Ambiance, excellent food, outstanding service. I booked their upstairs banquet room for a birthday party several years ago and was equally impressed. Max is always there, there is no absentee owner here. This will always be one of my go-to's in Walnut Creek.
Massimo's always delivers a wonderful dining experience. The specials are always intriguing and worth trying. The normal menu has a variety from which to choose so that no one in your group will be without choices from seafood, to steak to classic Italian. The wine list is extensive so again, everyone will be able to have wine to their liking. Parking in Walnut Creek is usually a bit of a bear but, because Massimo's is across the street from the multilevel parking lot that serves the Lesher Theater, parking is not going to be an issue.
Massimo has been one of our favorite restaurants for years. This latest visit did not disappoint. On this visit, the restaurant was crowed due to live performances at the theater across the street. However, the service, as usual, was spot on. Our server, Lori, was very friendly, helpful. And efficient. The décor and ambiance is elegant but relaxed. Our entrees of the Korobuta pork chop, the Duck breast, and the Halibut special were all excellent. There is an excellent cocktail menu (try the Godiva Chocolate Martini) and a great wine list including a very nice selection by the glass. A parking garage is right across the street.
Good, solid food and great service!!!!!! We like the proximity to the Lesher Center which allows us to have a great dinner before the performance.
We have been here many, many times and the food and service is always excellent! It is across the street from the Lescher Center, but a reservation is needed post event there. It is as great at lunch time as at dinner. The specials are super as well as the usual fare on the menu and desserts are specially served with a candle if it is your birthday! I highly recommend this restaurant.
We are married over 32 years and my husband always remembers the date we became engaged. This restaurant is a perfect place to celebrate special days.
Old time fav in Walnut Creek. Max runs a tight ship. Quality of food and service is excellent.
Great Bar scene. Plenty of parking across the street
A BIT N0ISEY, SPECIAL BELOW PAR, THE OTHE ENTRIES EXCELLENT.
A FIRST TIME VISIT, I DEFINATELY WILL GO BACK!
THE SERVICE WAS FABULOUS!
Great food and atmosphere. Staff on top of everything and very friendly. We will be back soon.
The ambiance was good, the service was very good and the food was good as well. I would recommend Massimo to friends. It's one of the higher end restaurants in Walnut Creek and it has been around for quite some time, which says something about a restaurant.
We met with old friends we haven't seen in a long time. The service was top notch. The servers were informative, helpful, bright spirited, food (as Always) was Yummy! Yummy!
Restaurant very noisy. Piano player annoying and way too loud. Special of the noght California Halibut was not good, very dry. Veal Scallopini was very good.
I highly recommend this restaurant. We have dined here 3 times in the last 3 months. The dinners were all very good. The Waldorf Salad is exceptional. And, the Raspberry Creme Brulee was out of this world! My only complaint was that the noise level was high. It seems that most restaurants are like this now given the popularity of dining in Walnut Creek.
Excellent food and service ! Quiet and near the window !
Nice old restaurant in downtown Walnut Creek.
I chose this restaurant because it looked nice, the menu was interesting for a business dinner and the location was perfect for meeting coming from two opposite locations. I regretted making the reservation the moment we were walked in and were seated, smack dab in the middle of a dinning room crammed with so many tables, it clearly screamed, "We want to maximize our revenue even at the expense of the customer's dining experience." It was absolutely impossible to carry on a conversation with the other 3 people at the table. This restaurant needs to reduce the number of tables by 15-20% and then it might be more pleasurable. The server was absolutely lovely in her demeanor despite having to squeeze between tables to serve and seemed so rushed with all she had to do that despite the white table cloths you could have been in the nosiest coffee shop packed to the gills. I have no problem spending money on fine dining and do want the place to have a bit of liveliness to it but when the noise level is deafening, it's not worth it. My ears literally hurt by the time I left the restaurant. I know this place is a Walnut Creek institution, but no thanks, plenty of other places to choose from...live and learn.
Food and service was excellent as usual.
Massimo has been a dependable friend for as long as I can remember (over a 15 years). Food is always good. Staff is always good. I always look for a special occasion to have an excuse to dine there.
Service was exceptional
Everything was great, but disappointed that nothing was done
to acknowledge our anniversary, even though you knew about it
ahead of time when the reservation was made. (Maybe a cupcake
with a candle on it or something.)
Food and service were, as always, excellent. However, The tables are pretty close together. A large, loud party next to us was a bit distracting, and one of them kept scooting his chair back and running into one of the people at our table. Groups larger than 4 should probably be seated in the other section of the restaurant.
Great find, haven’t been since high school
Enjoyed coming for business meal and enjoyed the service. We had a waitress that truly finds joy in her job, what s true blessing. Will definitely return for the dining experience
Great experience. Greeted nicely, seated right away at a window table. Appetizers, salads, entrees and desserts were all fresh flavors and perfectly prepared. $20 corkage fee. We brought our own bottle set aside for a special occasion. One of our neighborhood gems and have enjoyed this restaurant for many, many years. Belated Valentine’s Day dining was enjoyable.
Great table in back of restaurant. Couldn't have had better service. Delicious food. We look forward to going back.
I have been here 4 times for dinner and enjoy the service everytime. The same staff is there everytime and I love the owner who greets u at the door and walks around talking with a glass of wine in his hand.it feels like an authentic Italian atmosphere. Sometimes it gets a little loud in there so it’s not a super great spot for a first date but wonderful for old friends getting together and birthday bashes. This is my go to fave Italian spot!
Everything was just average. The food was average at best. Not impressed at all. I had made the reservation and mentioned it was a birthday celebration but nobody acknowledged it.
Great location in downtown Walnut Creek with good food, especially the Hanger Steak. The Salmon was ok, nothing special. Had an Apple- Tini , watered down and tasteless, the pomegranate-tini was the same. We were seated quickly and brought menus and water right away, then the server disappeared. After a long wait the server returned to take drink orders but never asked if we wanted an appetizer or if we were ready to order. Once our drinks arrived I had to ask for bread and that we wanted an appetizer. From this point on the server was more attentive but we noticed other servers were attending their tables with great efficiency. Bottom line, service left much to be desired, room was very loud, drinks watered down, food was good to great, and a nice wine list. I will go back with reservations as we may have had a bad server.
Excellent location, quiet, attentive service, and my chicken sandwich selection was very enjoyable.
Food was great and service was fine. Bread was great!
Always consistent delicious food. We have been coming to Massimo since we moved to Walnut Creek 22years ago and always enjoy the service, ambience and food!!
Overall a great restaurant. Excellent food and very attentive service. The only negative was that it was our anniversary and I'd requested a private corner table and we were instead seated at a table with about two feet on either side right next to two other couples. My wife was a bit annoyed but after a glass of wine we settled in and enjoyed our meal.
The food and service was excellent. I highly recommend Massimo's the staff are very professional and attentive.
Green vegetables should be included with the main dishes.
We go there often and are never disappointed. The food is always delicious, and the service exemplary.
Our server was excellent, knew the menue well, did some extra things for us, was attentive, but not overally so. She also was most efficient, friendly, and professional. The pasta dishes were delicious.
We had a wonderful time at Massimo's celebrating my birthday last year, so we returned for Valentine's Day. This time, however, was less enjoyable because of the noise level. The clamor made it difficult for my wife and I to hear each other, and the live piano as well! Our waiter said that the noise level on Saturday nights is a 'hit or miss proposition'. Despite this, our meals were excellent and so was the service. We usually have dessert and coffee after our meal, but we decided to leave after dinner and stopped at another restaurant down the street for this.
