Date night was worth going out on a snowy evening. Our waiter was great and friendly and the food was delicious although the sauce was a little strong and too much on the veal tenderloin making the mash potato soggy and the flavor overwhelming. The noise level was loud especially having a table in the middle of the room. The tables were close that guests and sometimes the waitstaff were almost bumping into me. On open table, I noted that we were celebrating a birthday, but that was not acknowledged at all which was disappointing. We celebrated a birthday last year and not only did we sit in the cozy Godfather table...there was a welcoming birthday sign on the table and the staff greeted the birthday boys and sang to them. We enjoyed our dinner otherwise ...We’ll just try again next birthday celebration.
Delicious food, great service, loved the restaurant week menu and prices. Highly recommend!
Everything was excellent. Wouldn’t have excepted anything else. Three different people congratulated my wife on her new job, just from me writing that I’m the Open Table special comments. His shows that the restaurant reads the whole reservation. Made me very happy. Cheers!
My husband and I went during Restaurant Week and ordered from the 3 course prix-fixe menu, which had some great choices.
For a first course we had the risotto cake and spinach salad. The Risotto cake was perfectly cooked, with a crisp outside and creamy inside. My salad was nicely dressed , and had plenty of candied nuts and blue cheese. it was topped with a crisp delicious Proscuitto medallion.
We both had the pork shank which was served in a delicious, rich braising sauce with white beans. The pork fell right off the bone. This was such a nice treat - it's difficult to find a place that serves pork shank and prepared so well.
We chose tiramisu for our last course. Although it was tender and moist with a thick coating of cocoa powder, I did not detect any espresso. It tasted as though it was soaked with amaretto. It was very good- it's just my personal preference to have the traditional.
The service was outstanding! Our server took good care of us with just the right amount of interaction. The courses came out perfectly timed.
Atmosphere is very comfortable, with tables spaced nicely and low lighting.
Had a great lunch during restaurant week. Attentive service. The companata was delicious. Great flavors in the tomato soup.
2 pasta dishes were both wonderful. Did not care for the chicken in mushrooms but the staff was very nice and offered us another dish. The pasta we chose was a better choice.
Tomato soup was delicious. Shrimp with risotto was amazing. The wait was a bit long and the restaurant was noisy.
Generous portions of tasty food made with high quality ingredients. The service is spot on and valet parking is an added bonus. Can’t wait to go back!
Have dinner before dropping off my daughter at PC
Amazing! Loved the risotto and the wine was great. service was great too! The bread for starters honestly and chunky sauce whatever it was was incredible also! Great time!
First time in Providence. We chose the perfect restaurant in which to dine.
One of the best meals ever.. eggplant was the best! Will be going again soon for sure...
Our dinner here was fabulous. Our server helped us choose a wine that was exactly what we were looking for. They actually let us taste 2 before choosing. They had an eggplant tomato mixture to spread on the bread which was unusual but very good. We had the calamari for an appetizer and it was delicious! I couldn’t choose between carbonara and the fettuccine bolognese and our server said I could get 1/2 of each. Both were outstanding! My daughter had the four cheese gnocchi which was very flavorful but extremely rich. The presentation of all the dishes was spot on. I would definitely go back on a return visit to Providence.
Massimo is always great, we brought a family group of 9...server handled all of us professionally, couldn't have been better. Food was excellent, service was superb. Even the valet asked us how our meal was and if we enjoyed ourselves. From beginning to end our night at Massimo was perfect. Thank you.
Drag brunch was so much fun!
Great food. Great service. Great atmosphere. I will definitely go back the next time I am in Providence.
Ambiance, food, and above all, SERVICE was spectacular thanks to our waitress, Remi. If you want an EXPERIENCE you’ll remember forever, I highly recommend requesting her! She was personable, had great energy, made great recommendations for the table, and was knowledgeable about the menu.
We shared a delicious octopus appetizer; the best and most tender, fall-off-the-bone duck; and delicious frutti de mar (substitute the pasta for their butternut squash!)... again, great suggestion from Remi.
Left there perfectly full, Cannoli to-go, and an experience well always remember!! Can’t wait to go back when I visit home again!
Food and atmosphere were very good. Noise level was a bit on the loud side.
Great Bar staff, friendly and entertaining. Best Manhattan I have had out in a long time that was prepared perfectly. For anew Years eve, service was good, very busy. I had a veal dish that was excellent. Will return to explore more of the menu
Always a great meal and fantastic service. We had a couple minor things happen that were not a big deal. The staff handled them like they were. The manager was great very personable and entertaining. Definitely one of the places on the top of our frequent list.
Our waiter Jonathan was very attentive, kind and courteous .
Great food and excellent service I wouldn’t have wanted to spend my New Year’s anywhere else
Great meal, big portions. So good for Italian food.
I have celiac and there were so many gluten free options I could enjoy the meal and not fee as outcasted
Wonderful night! Waitress was lovely, but had another huge table by herself, so our ordered bottle of wine didn't come immediately with dinner. After speaking to a person it was immediately brought to the table. We very much appreciated the manager coming over and giving us complimentary desserts! Will definitely make Massimo a frequent stop .
First time here. We were looking for old world Italian cuisine and found it! Complimentary bread was served with a soft, luscious roasted vegetables relish. Dinners were generous, and very rich. The gnocchi with braised short ribs were the perfect consistency. The fusilli in Italian gravy with meatballs and sausage was enormous. The gravy was smooth but dense in contrast to the moist, tender and flavorful meatballs. Wonderful!
Family holiday group -Terrific service and selection. The quality was excellent and we were pleased that they had a thorough gluten-free menu for one of our party!! We were glad to get back there and the out of town foodies loved it!
We have been trying to find a restaurant in Providence that served the Italian tradition of the Feast of Seven Fishes on Christmas Eve. We finally found it at Massimo and it was excellent. We will be making our reservations for next year very early to make sure we don’t get shut out.
Food was disappointing .
Raviolis were very watery. Beef tenderloin was oK. Veal dish was very good. Anti pasto very good.
Tagliatelle with short ribs were good - portion was very small for my 17 year old son.
I wish the server explained the 7 fish dinner better. I overheard a server at another table explain that you could get parts of the menu. I would have done that.
Valet was responsive
We got there 20 minutes early. Your staff accomodated us.
We have been there several times before - do t know if we would go again on big holiday. It was just a different experience.
We plan on coming back soon.
Lunch with niece for Christmas.
Arthur was phenomenal. Our meal were exquisite. Thank you for making our birthdays a day to remember!
We had a table on 2nd floor. It was a very nice ambiance. The service was great. We order a salad to share, they spread it to 2 plates and it was plenty. I ordered squid ink pasta and it was delicious. We also had tiramisu for dessert. It was one of the best we ever had!!
Food was amazing & our server was great also
Excellent pasta, fresh bread, good size cocktails, everything we wish for!
A group of colleagues and I had our Christmas dinner at Massimo. The food and drinks were delicious. The menu is extensive, and has something for everyone. Unfortunately, we felt the service was very slow, with us having to ask to order our entrees and get up to ask for water multiple times. I would definitely return for the food, but probably not with a group of 12.
We were a group of 7 to celebrate my wife's birthday. Our party included 3 children. Massimo was formerly Mediteraneo for those of you who know the area. Our server was very attentive, the food was okay. With its 4 1/2 star rating, I think I was expecting better than okay. The only real disappointment was the special panzanella salad. A panzanella salad is basically a salad with bits of Italian bread. Ours was a large bowl with diced vegetables, croutons, and topped with a large burrata. Definitely not worth the $19 charge. The tiramisu desert was outstanding, however.
Birthday celebration . This is a beautiful place with a great staff! Portions were moderate. A few guests did not like the food but I loved it!
Our seating was a high table/bar area because that was all that was available. I would definitely sit in the main dining room in the future because the atmosphere/ambiance is much better. Bar area is very dark and the wait staff tend to gather there so it makes it a bit hectic. I ordered the pork chop entree...which everything other than the pork chop was cool...as thought the plate was cold when it was plated. Meat was tasty and warm but not hot . I told the server (Danielle) and we were quickly greeted by the manager. He offered to remake the plate but I didn't really want to eat after my husband so I declined. IN the end they did take the salad app off the bill which was a nice gesture!
The food was not worth what they were charging. I paid $3 for sausage and there were only 3 little chunks of sausage in the entire dry gnocchi dish. $26 for dry gnocchi, 3 pieces of sausage, and not at all tasteful sauce. Do not recommend. I did not even get dessert there because I did not want to give them any more of my money.
BEST food and VERY attentive, especially to my gluten free needs! Our server was so friendly and attentive, especially to the fact that I need to eat gluten free. Also, we took my college daughter and her friends here to celebrate her birthday. Even though I put it in the notes, they did not mark the table accordingly, but once I told our server, he was wonderful. He went out of his way to make this a special occasion it was meant to be. The food here is ALWAYS outstanding! ... from appetizers to the main course to the bread and even the desserts! Any time we are in Providence, we love to come to Massimo's for dinner.
