Excellent service and delicious food. Very accommodating for allergies/intolerances.
Holiday dinner with my team. All staff were 5 stars!
Lesile was an amazing server. She knew a lot about Italian wines and was very attentive!
Delicioso! What a great dinner we had at Massimo on Federal Hill! While an impromptu early dinner at 4pm on a Sunday, this place really fit the bill. We were looking for a nice place, decorated for Christmas and Massimo's was perfect. Everything from the wine through the meal was first rate. The bread and mushroom chutney was top notch and my meal of a bone - in veal chop parmesan was instantly memorable. The rigatoni was perefectly al dente and the tomato sauce was one that I would go out for again. Our waitress was oh so nice and pleasant and punctual and our table......our table was the best in the house....a corner, circular and elevated booth to sit 5 or 6. We will certainly be back!
The service was excellent and my food was delicious! In addition to the person who sat us, we had three different wait staff helping to make our experience positive. I had the pan seared scallops with butternut risotto and roasted brussel sprouts - it was divine! My husband was quite happy with his Chicken Parmesan.
The entire restaurant was tastefully decorated for the holidays with garland, ornaments, wreaths, and a tree. There were white lights hanging in with upstairs windows too. I would highly recommend Massimo.
Exceptional all around. Our server, Austin, was professional, attentive and wonderful. My husbands soup was never delivered and the manager came right over to apologize and comped our desserts. The food was delicious, bolognese, seared scallops and house veal dish!
Highly recommend this restaurant and we will return.
It was ok. Nothing really “wow” to write home about
Excellent service Delicious food, Great value for lunch
I love Massimo & usually love every bite. But. Couldn’t eat my spaghetti carbonara ... something was off. My fault that I didn’t send it back. Everything else was superb.
Had a birthday lunch visit to Massimo while visiting Providence. Meal was excellent. Both of us had the lunch 3 course special, one spaghetti carbonara and one lemon chicken with capers, both meals were excellent. Recommend!
Gabriel was so helpful and amazing as a waitperson...she made our experience at the Drag Brunch excellent.
A really wonderful date night. Waiter was a little slow getting g the basics like bread and water initially but was polite and generally helpful. Seemed a little inexperienced so it was understandable but I do expect more from this restaurant. Food was really delicious. My husband had the Duck Confit with Ravioli and it was amazing. The duck was cooked to perfect and the flavors complimented each other well I had the scallops with squash risotto pancetta and and Brussels sprouts. While each individual component was prepared well and was tasty the flavors did not meld well together as a dish.
Overall happy with our evening. We’ve been here quite a few times and the food never disappoints. The service on the other hand is just meh and I would expect a bit more professionalism at this location and price point
Every single bite was incredibly delicious! So glad we stopped in!
It was just a little chilly due to being sat near the door.
Massimo is quickly becoming my new favorite restaurant in Providence—and not just because that's my puppy's name! I've been a few times now and the food is always excellent, the service is solid, and the ambiance is lively and inviting. Exactly what you want from a Federal Hill restaurant, especially on Thanksgiving. Will be back soon!
I need to DEEPLY complain and I demand my money back. I am bald, due to an autoimmune disease and before I even sat down, two waiters and a bus boy referred to me as sir. My patenter was also given the wrong meal. He ordered the steak and got the chicken parm and I think that’s because the table right next to us was wondering the parm as well.
At a certain point, a woman filled up my water glass and said, “god bless you. My cousin is currently going through chemo, so I understand what that is like.” I DO NOT HAVE cancer.
This was a truly hurtful dining experience. I am never one to complain, as my family owns are restaurant, but this was truly a horrific experience and if I do not get my meal refunded to me, I am going to have to elevate matters.
We arrived about 10 minutes before our reservation time and without asking if we would wait for seating in the main dining area. We were put to sit at this table right next to the bar side entrance with no other tables around and we saw at least twice with staff taking the trash passes us to the door.....
Food came relatively quickly. The thanksgiving prefix dinner was alright but turkey was burnt so my kids cannot recognize which portion of the turkey they got. Even though the service was pretty attentive but Menu said the pumpkin pie will come with coffee or tea but it was not offered to us. Besides the TVs noise from the bar, We also unavoidably have to listen to some conversation between the restaurant staffs with the bartender because of the table set up.
Overall we don’t think the place worth the effort to book ahead of time and food was not worth the money we paid. It is our first visit to this place but likely last one too.
Passing through for Thanksgiving night and we had reserved at Massimo for an early Italian, non traditional dinner. Seated upstairs which was ok, but at first glance seemed less intimate then the 1st floor dining, but turned out to be fine. Had white tablecloths upstairs which was nice. Excellent martinis for each of us to start, served in a shaker, which kept them nice and chilled. Apps were delicious, fresh fried Pt. Judith Calamari and homemade meatballs. Very nice mesclun salad as 2nd course. Shared the Linguine Frutti di Mare, which came very oversalted and was sent back. Upon return, seafood was excellent, however the actual pasta was a tremendous disappointment. Seemed of a poor quality, lacking any real flavour. We are great pasta lovers and I am a home cook who has traveled many times to Italy and eaten in top Italian restaurants in many cities in NY and Boston amongst other areas, so we were very disappointed that the linguine wasn't enjoyable. House red was nice blend. Server and runners were very nice and seemed well trained in service. Would go back, but avoid any pasta dishes!
We will never know about the food. We were seated in bar side high top as we reserved, waited 15 minutes, never were approached, so we let the maitre de know and left.
Waited 40 minutes over our reservation time. Food was horrible (4 course turkey dinner), turkey tasted dry and filled with herbs. 3 people in the party didn’t get stuffing because they ran out so filled plates with Brussel sprouts. Food was so bad no one even wanted the dessert course. Was extremely loud and just not the place to go on a holiday.
This was our second Thanksgiving at Massimo in three years. Overall, we enjoyed it both times. The service was very good and the food was very good. I would have preferred a salad for the first course, but then my h reminded me that there is another big recall on lettuce, so soup was a safer way to go. Only issue was two couples next to us that were chronic complainers. Instead of being grateful that they were getting service on Thanksgiving Day, they complained about every single thing. We enjoyed it. I think if they spaced out the courses a bit more, then we probably would have had room for coffee. Overall, the flavor of the food was outstanding.
Very disappointing. Server was disinterested and as a result service was very bad. Food was also not good. First bad meal and experience I have had at Massimo.
My friend and I enjoyed a lovely dinner at Ristorante Massimo. It was a busy Saturday night so I'm glad we had reservations. Food, wine, and service were all fantastic. It felt elegant and a bit "vintage" but still modern, and not pretentious at all. I would definitely eat there again and recommend to others. I think it's something of a "special occasion" restaurant for the locals, as there were three birthday celebrations that evening where staff came out and sang Happy Birthday in Italian. Fun!
Best espresso martini I have ever had! The food was incredible from the bread to the dessert!!
Massimo has quickly become our favorite restaurant on Federal Hill. The food is beyond delicious - creative, rustic, Italian cuisine. The porchetta is to die for! Service prompt, but never felt rushed. Only hesitation is that the tables are so close together, there is very little privacy.
The food was excellent, the noise level was really bad. You couldn’t have a conversation with the person sitting across from you! The wait staff top notch.... just wish they could do something about the noise 😞
Excellent food starting with the bread and eggplant caponata all the way to dessert. Pride is taken with the quality of ingredients that are used.
We went for a friends birthday. I let them know ahead of ti it was for a birthday and they set up a special table and even had a cute marked with a happy birthday greeting. It’s the little things that make are so special! Our original party of 6 was cut in had to three due to people cancelling last minute but they were so accommodating. We each ordered an entree and ate every last bit it was that good. The cocktails were also fabulous. Wish we had room for desert! The waiter was very attentive and professional.
Overall average experience
Eating at Massimo is always an amazing culinary experience!
We came in for our 1 year anniversary for the Monday night special $49 for a 3 course meal. It was our first time coming here and we were excited for the amazing deal and to celebrate one year together. We previewed the menu online as we know theses deals typically only include select dishes. I decided on the L’ Endivia e Gorgonzola con Pere and Salmone di Faroe Islands and my Partner decided on the Del Contadino and Rigatoni al Forno. We both would have the Tiramisu Classico (Though it was the only dessert listed we didnt mind as we both enjoy it!) and the red wine. Apon arriving, we had to ask for the special menu as it was not given to us when seated. After grazing it over to finalize the choices we made before hand, we noticed none of the items we chose from the online special menu were on it. We asked our server who then went to talk with who I am assuming was a manager and they said they could not give us the dishes we requested.. even though they were LISTED ON THE WEBSITE under the monday specials menu. Even at this very moment, the menu online still has the dishes we were looking for. However the restaurant would not honor the online menu. We ended up ordered a completely different salad and entree than we both had been hoping for. It was a complete disappointment and I found it rather unprofessional for a Restaurant who was named "Best Restaurant in RI" to have discrepancies in their menu from the online to the in person version, especially in regards to a 3 course special. The best thing we had was the wine. Aside from having a weeknight evening and celebrating one year together, the night was a let down and the food was okay, likely because i was forced to order something I had no intentions on getting. The salad was good, but the chicken on my chicken parm was overcooked. Will not return, nor recommend. Completely unprofessional and false advertisement online in regards to the $49 Monday menu that we drove an hour from our home in Boston for.
The staff was very friendly & attentive. The menu is very nice with a number of interesting items. The food was delicious! We had a vey enjoyable evening! We will definitely recommend this restaurant to others.
Loved the atmosphere! Our reservation was for 7:30 we weren't seated until 8 but we were able to have a cocktail from the lounge and the food was excellent once we sat and ordered. I could have had the bread and the eggplant they served, so good!
Our favorite spot in Federal Hill. Fantastic service, never rushed and always excellent food. My only choice to celebrate my 60th birthday. Lots of great spots on Atwells Ave. but you will never be disappointed here.
Food was delicious and our waiter was great! Went before a sporting event at Brown and waiter knew we were under a time constraint. no issues!
Food could have been a bit hotter but was incredible.
Good and service excellent. Restaurant needs refurbishing.
The new go-to restaurant for business meetings for our company. Great food, great service! Enjoyed ourselves thoroughly.
Amazing food, great service and atmosphere. Recommend Highly!
