Massilia is a Marseille-inspired brasserie with culinary influences from the South of France, Italy, Spain and Morocco.

With a beautiful recessed patio, the all-day restaurant and bar conveys the atmosphere of those lively French eateries;
a buoyant neighborhood hub by day (offering coffee drinks, croissants, and egg dishes in the morning, pita sandwiches and classic bistro items such as steak-frites for lunch) to a festive ambiance at night around dishes such as homemade pasta, gambas au pastis, eight-hour braised lamb, and Moroccan tajine.

The unique crafted cocktail program is based around spirits from the South of France and Italy, with a dedicated Negroni menu, as well as an extensive selection of Amari and French brandies.

Massilia is open every day at 7:00am. Now booking Valentine's Day dinner reservations!

The food was really great! the ambiance too. Unfortunately when we have finished our plates, the waiter expedited the check, and he imposed a tip percentage without asking and without our consent. When we paid on his I pad, the 18% tip was already checked, and he clicked on next without our consent! REALLY bad practice!

Best experience in Santa Monica! We rarely come to this side of town because of all the tourist traps. Massilia is THE exception! The food was incredible, a mix of French and Italian.
Great flavor and such generous portions.
My wife ordered the Tagliatelle with mushrooms and we both agreed that this was the best pasta dish we ever had.
The ambiance is incredible as well. Such a gem of a restaurant.

My first experience for lunch a few months ago was fantastic! That’s why we came back with friends to try out their brunch. Unfortunately pretty disappointing.
Food was ok, nothing special and when you order a soft scramble it should be soft. Needed to add salt and pepper. The “bacon” was like one large piece of leather. Breakfast pizza was good.
Service was poor. No silverware, mixed up coffee orders, at first no sugar on the table and then all of a sudden they brought 3 trays. Had to ask 3 different waiters to get jam. And so on...
Not busy at all but we waited quite a while for drinks and food to come.
Interior and exterior design and atmosphere are really nice.

The appetizer was super salty - now way to get a better one . Second appetizer claims was only soup and two slices of bread ( that is a joke) after 95 min the main dish arrived - 8h lamb shank and Moroccan Royal..... both both worth the money only fancy name - never again

My wife and I went here for a 4-course prix fixe Valentine’s dinner. We were coming from out of town and had high hopes for a nice evening. Unfortunately, it was probably the single worst dining experience we have ever had. The kitchen had a complete meltdown and couldn’t serve food. After one and a half hours, the only dish we received was a small appetizer. Our waiter apologized at first and then just stopped coming to our table. Several tables around us had the same issue and most got up and left. We did eventually as well. Huge disappointment. I called the next day to talk to the manager to make sure our credit card was not charged (we had to give a card to secure the reservation). The manager never called back. This place is completely unprofessional and possibly a scam.

I took my wife on a date to Massilia for Valentines day 2020 and the restaurant couldn't have been more ill-prepared. Our waitress was nice and doing her best, however the restaurant could not get food out to their high-paying customers. The first two courses of our four course meal came out within 45-60 minutes, then we waited an hour+ for our main course, as did everyone else in the restaurant. We had to take our main course and dessert to-go, both of which were obviously cold by the time we could eat them. The restaurant gave us some money off our bill but it wasn't enough for the poor experience. Other couples simply got up and left after not being served their main courses.

It was a four course fix priced Valentines dinner. They brought all three first courses to each of us at exactly same time. We sat at bar with a 6:30 reservation so there was rush to turn a table over.

The food was good but very overpriced. Also the waiter automatically added the tip when we paid the bill and the overall experience wasn't too worthy. 3 cokes, 2 appetizers, and 4 mains are not worth the $180 price tag.

Portions were a little small for the price. My Bucatini was also a little too salty but the pasta itself was great. 'Could definitely tell it was made from scratch. The Lillet Gin & Tonic was fantastic and obviously the atmosphere can't be beat. Great outdoor seating. Lovely decor and plants. A stones throw away from the ocean, 1 block from the promenade. Overall I think I'd recommend this place as a great bar but not necessarily a great restaurant.

We came for restaurant week. The employees were nice and helpful. Very sweet people working at Masilla.
The food was the perfect amount. We both had salads. However the salad had soy oil instead of olive oil for th dressing. They also used soy oil on the bread they grilled . Soy oil has a very strong and unappetizing smell. Many restaurants are using soy oil and other oils that over power foods and quite frankly make me sick to my stomach from the pungent odor. Please stop using inferior oils to cook with. Use good, healthy safe oils and charge more! PLEASE, I beg of you!
If it wasn't for the funky oil I would definitely come back.

I like the menu - Mediterranean with a French Moroccan twist (I am told that Massilia is the ancient name for Marseille); excellent wine list, and lively ambiance. We shared Couscous Royale, grilled broccolini and marinated mushroom - all delicious and just the right amount of food for two. I've also had their grilled branzino - highly recommended. In general, everything at Massilia is worth trying and best when shared. The only draw back is its location near the Santa Monica Third Street Promenade which tends to attract mostly tourists - probably good for business but could be too much of a scene for us locals who crave a more relaxing experience to go with the tasty food!

Delicious , fresh food in a swanky atmosphere without the swanky prices for the Dine LA menu. Generous, delicious portions. The 8 hour lamb shank was incredible. We will definitely return.

Despite the great dishes, I won’t be returning due to the unprofessional service/management. My friend and I arrived on a Friday evening with a reservation. The hostess says she “cannot seat us” and offers us a glass of champagne at the bar. 45 minutes passes and she said they are “overbooked” and the kitchen cannot make dishes quickly enough, nor can she specify when we will be served or seated. Finally we’re seated – and a couple is seated next to us and immediately begins ordering... Worst of all, one of the waiters hit on my friend, began touching her shoulders despite her shrugging him off multiple times. He snuck over from behind and kissed her shoulder... extremely inappropriate conduct. The management seems to run things poorly and the waiter made our visit uncomfortable. We won’t be returning, nor would we recommend to anyone.

Went for lunch during DineLA. Food was delicious and generous portions. Asked for a Tito’s based cocktail not too sweet and the bartender made me a great cocktail even bringing it over to let me taste to see if I liked it. Great if you’re looking for a relaxed spot to have a long chill lunch.
