Masa Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
My husband took me here for my birthday, and it was an amazing time! The prices were so reasonable for the quality and portion sizes of the food. From our appetizers, to the sushi, to our entrees, every bite was sensational. The server was kind and prompt. We never had to ask for a thing! We both agreed that Masa will be our new date night spot. Can't wait to try more of the menu.
Masa does not disappoint; the room is attractive, and the food excellent. We had a dinner reservation for five on an FSU football weekend, when every restaurant in Tallahassee (including Masa) was packed. Arriving a few minutes early, we were cheerfully greeted by the hostess who told us "Your table is all set up, please follow me." Outstanding! Full bar, easy parking, a great range of authentic sushi, and plenty of other choices too.
Delicious food, great service, good prices. By far our favorite spot in Tallahassee now, can't wait to return! Our dinner was $65, and it included appetizers three rolls (two of which were chef's specialty) and desserts. We didn't drink anything alcoholic, though the menu is quite extensive. The place is really huge, but somehow managed to feel very cozy. I think the best indication of how good it is was the amount of people eating or grabbing take out (dates, friends, families with children, college students)
The old Masa was a much more intimate spot, I guess, since your business has moved down the street, well the attention to detail has moved also, the quality of the food has slipped and last night (FSU vs Bama game) all I and my date heard were the cheers and jeers about the game. Now I understand that Tallahassee is a football town, home of the Noles but I didn't come to a sports bar for my evening meal.
Also the note hung on the door closing early might turn off any potential customers they were on the edge of whether to frequent your business
Our experience was amazing!!!!! I booked this restaurant for my daughter's 18th birthday because she loves this place! The staff was exceptional!!!!!! The Manager worked his magic when our party of 10 became a party of 15+. I recommend this place to any and everyone!!!!! The atmosphere, the food, the service was absolutely perfect for the occasion we were celebrating!!!! And not to mention, after dinner, one of my daughter's balloons flew away & the manager made it his priority to get it down from the ceiling when he didn't have too!!!!! MASA I'd definitely my favorite hands down!!!!!
Our group of 7 went there to celebrate our daughters graduation from FSU. Food was excellent and prices not bad. We did make reservations and had to wait about 15 minutes before getting the table. I was not surprised that they automatically charged us 20% tip, but it would have been nice if it had been stated as such on the menu ( I looked before hand, it was not there).
The original reservation was for 2 but friends fro out of town stopped by. I called the restaurant and easily updated the reservation. Table was ready on arrival and in a quiet location as requested. Service was quick and efficient. All orders arrived together and the food was great! We appreciated the non-disruptive attention from our waiter (Larry) who was attentive but not cloying as in some restaurants. Everyone was totally satisfied with his/her meal.
This meal was incredible, we had several different items including drinks and were extremely happy with everything! We had the Volcano Oysters, Calamari, and Tuna tartar for appetizers. We ordered the Sunrise in NY, KC Cucumber roll, Seared scallop cucumber roll, and my boyfriend had his go-to Spider roll. Several pieces of nigiri including Sea Urchin (glad I tried it but not a fan) finished off the meal. We will ABSOLUTELY come back!
We were visiting Tallahassee, FL for the first time, and wanted to go for a nice dinner. Masa exceeded our expectations! Excellent service and food and perfect atmosphere! Trendy and popular place but not too loud. We also loved our seat in a private booth. Would definitely return and would definitely refer to others!
As soon as you enter you are greeted with a smile and our table was being held. We git there a little early so it was very nice to be seated right away. The waiter was very attentive and we were taken care of quickly. The sushi was fresh a bery good. The main entrees like the chicken teriyaki and mongolian beef were very good. Will go again if in town.
We had lunch for our daughter's graduation celebration. We had a cute little private area with a round table that allowed us to talk and see each other, it was super great. Also our server was wonderful. The food came out quickly and it was delicious and hot.. a biggie for me when there is a larger group and it is very busy. Would recommend for everyone and every occasion.
thank you Kathleen and family
We've eaten at Masa before and have enjoyed the meals. However, this was our first attempt at lunch. Nothing extraordinary about the meal to speak of. We ordered some simple sushi rolls and the Honey Walnut Shrimp with Tuna Tartar as an appetizer. Could have spared a few more chips with the tartar--only 4 were served. The shrimp meal was served as a bento box, which there was no indication that is how they serve the lunches off the menu; and it was unappealing. The interpretation of honey walnut shrimp was not what I expected. Essentially it was praline walnut halves sprinkled in among the shrimp prepared tempura style. The spring roll was mushy and the steamed rice just OK.
Service was average; again, nothing great. It took several attempts in hailing anyone to get some soy sauce.
May try again for dinner only as that has been a better experience for us. There are better Asian restaurants within a few blocks where the lunch meals a far superior.
