Masa - Boston Ratings and Reviews
I was charged with organizing a brunch for myself and three friends from outside the city; Masa did not disappoint. The staff was friendly and helpful, the food was ample and delicious (I had the southwest benedict and it was the best benne I have ever had), and the drinks are excellent (and strong!). I will be returning in the future for sure!
Based on internet reviews, my wife and I made reservations for Sunday brunch at Masa. The menu was quite interesting, reflecting the southwestern influence of the chef-owner. The huevos rancheros topped with queso cotija and crema and the eggs benedict over biscuits with avocado cream and green chile hollandaise were excellent. We plan to return for the brunch fiesta and the tapas & tacos.
This was our second visit to MASA and we were again so delighted with the food, the atmosphere (lively and fun) and the outstanding service. What a great place to bring all ages and enjoy a wonderful birthday brunch! Thank You to everyone for making our day so special.
Our dinner was...good.. ok...at $60pp I expect a little more...shared 2 apps and entrees..everything was cooked very well just not very exciting..scallops and duck together ??...great service and ambiance...
I'd go back if only for the bar which is nice..
Oh and don't even think about trying to park...use valet tho it's only available weekends..
We dined on Sunday morning and had THE nicest waitstaff. Accommodated late orders and didn't rush us out at the end like other places do. LOVED the cornbread starter and had awesome cappuccinos, followed by the eggs benedict with a side of chorizo. 10/10 would recommend.
Extremely over priced for small, simple meals and portions. Can not stress the over pricing enough.
When we went, they said they didn't have the right meat to make us the burgers so they had us order something else and gave us a "free dessert" it wasn't until after paying that we realized they charged us for the dessert too
Visiting and decided to enjoy tapas at Masa on our last night in Boston. We weren't sure what to expect - we walked in and the place was nearly empty (mind you, we had a late-night reservation on a Sunday). We were welcomed, though, and service was great. We enjoyed some savory drinks, including a delicious watermelon habanero margarita with just the right kick. The tapas definitely hit the spot, including the grilled elote (which can be tough to get right, particularly for those of us who grew up in the Southwest). Overall, an awesome place with some tasty takes on Southwest dishes. Thanks for great food and drinks, Masa - we'll definitely visit again!
The food was really amazing, I had their french toast option and it was absolutely incredible. It was sweet but not overwhelming, I normally like to have something savory for brunch, but this was worth not choosing eggs. My mom and I loved the cornbread and jams they brought out too. We both had drinks which were unique and refreshing, the coconut mojito was another good choice we made. Plus the service was quite nice, you could tell the manager and all the staff cared about making guests happy. I really enjoyed the brunch and will definitely come back!
Come for brunch and get the crispy Texas Toast. Like no stuffed French toast you have had before...you will dream about the texture and crunch. So sad I was on the run and couldn't take home leftovers - will definitely go back so that next time I can eat the whole thing!
My boyfriend and I recently tried out this restaurant because we had received a coupon and were long overdue for a date night. We went on a Sunday evening and it was very quiet when we arrived, with people only at one table and a couple of others at the bar. The hostess greeted us and asked where we wanted to sit. We chose the outdoors, so she walked us outside and told us we could choose any of the four available tables that we wanted. We chose the farthest of the five outdoor tables, in the corner of the patio. Immediately when we chose it, she said, "You can sit at any table but that one. That table is only for four people." This was odd, being as the place was basically empty and chances of a party of four coming in while we were dining were slim, but we chose another table anyway. But not even two minutes after we chose another table, another couple was seated at the table we were told we couldn't sit at. I was a bit upset, but I didn't want to let it ruin the night. When another couple was seated at the table next to us and we were asked to squeeze together to accommodate them, I had had enough and asked to be moved inside. The inside is nicely laid out and we were the only ones seated in the dining room. So it was quiet and romantic - exactly what we had been looking for. And then the food came. I ordered the filet mignon and it was excellent. I highly recommend this dish. However, my boyfriend ordered the fish of the day and was deeply disappointed. The fish was monk fish and it was overcooked and bathed in salt, as the mussels that lined the dish were as well. The only thing that tasted halfway decent on his plate was the salad. While we're willing to give this place another chance - maybe for brunch - I won't be giving out any recommendations for this place.
We had a good experience at Masa, and would happily return. The food was fantastic and reasonably priced, the margaritas were ok and certainly serviceable (not spectacular, but then again I ordered a run-of-the-mill margarita. My hope is they improve as one climbs the price ladder), and the service was attentive and friendly. We were there for my wife's birthday, and they took the time to bring out a little something sweet at the end of the meal to celebrate. It was a wonderful touch. Overall, I'm looking forward to our next visit!
