Pretend it's 2004 and get excited about Mas (farmhouse) again. A decade later, this is still one of the best fine dining experiences in New York City.
Food was good but for the price and level of service, we would not pay for that overall experience again. All was just okay but given the prices, everything needed to be great...much better then it was.
Mas never disappoints. The food, the service and the ambiance and the attention to detail make it one of my favorite restaurants. This time, I had the duck which was tender, delicious and perfectly prepared. A truly wonderful dining experience.
I.T was dear
Would definitely go back!
Nothing special. It is terrible. We went because read the good reviews but all ended up with full of disappointments. The price is a rip off for a little restaurant. For the same price of a half main course, you can have a decent pre fix dinner a few blocks away.
Service is under par. No real waiters or waitresses. It just let non english speaking bus boys run tables who dont even know what's on the menu. It gives me a cheap feeling. They are all in a rush makes the place look like a fast food place.
Please note: quinoa has sands in it!! Yuck. The appetizer meatball is like a ball of all salt. The chef must be cooking mindless or with eyes covered.
Very small portion of food. Nothing worths mentioning. We paid double for food we can get better anywhere.
Dined at this restaurant a few days ago and we were all very disappointed in general despite the good reviews it had... Waiters were kind of friendly, but they gave us no menu course explanations on each dish as they came to our table on the tasting menu we've ordered, along with the wine paring, which the wines did not pair very well either. All the dishes were below average & most were very salty... Now understand why this restaurant did not have any star ratings on either the NY Times nor the Michelin...
Great as always
Simply fantastic! A great spot for anything from a formal business dinner to a nice date night. The menu is robust and creative with everything from the white asparagus soup, yellowfin tuna, to the short rib (one of the best dishes in Manhattan) being delicious.
Also, DO NOT leave without getting dessert. The 5-star pastry chef is one of the most creative and talented chefs in the city. Every dessert is an instagram worthy work of art on a plate and in your mouth. Mas is worth the trip for dessert alone!
Outstanding in every way
My new favorite restaurant!
Usually an amazing experience, but there was a group of 10 people at a table right in center of restaurant that was very loud. Took away he whole special experience- mad should think about limiting the big group reservation.
AlwAys fantastic food and service
This was quite a disappointment. We had been looking forward to Mas for quite some time, and tried the 6 course chef’s tasting menu.
The food was poorly presented, lacking flavor, and quality was below the standards of other restaurants at this price point.
Our server was cold, unfriendly, and not knowledgeable or helpful. For $600 including cocktails, wine, and gratuity, we will not be returning.
Would recommend establishments such as Perry St or Dovetail for a much more enjoyable and delicious experience.
Wonderful, cozy atmosphere with incredible food!
The experience was near 5 stars; the food, the wine, the service all stellar. The layout of the restaurant and the noise level unfortunately deprived us of the kind of intimate experience the presentation deserved. For the cost we might have enjoyed larger portions but all in all an excellent restaurant.
The food was excellent.
Food was amazing, service was amazing. A five star restaurant.
Food was excellent; service great; had expected a wee more quiet and dim lighting - over all very lovely
Delicious food, fantastic service. Amazing bartender creating great cocktails while we waited for our table. We love the small intimate dining room.
This is my second time at Mas and it was as good if not better than my first time. We opted for the four course meal plus a wine pairing which was a sublime choice. The sommelier was on top of each course and provided for a perfect meal for my wife - who was celebrating her birthday!
Thanks again Mas ! Sublime start to finish.
Great atmosphere. Excellent Service. Perfect drinks. Superb food. Amazing desserts. What else is there to say? The best restaurant in New York? Probably.
Chic smallish bistro with sophisticated food and service
Amazing wine list good for special occasion or just a great dinner out
Amazing night. Service, food, everything! Can't wait to go back.
Food was delicious and beautifully paired with the wines we had. Great time.
We were more than pleased to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary at MAS! Everything was exceptional and delicious, from the ambiance, the hostess, the food and the fresh selections, the wine, to the entire staff...it was a special occasion and we felt extremely special! We will surely be back!
Dinner was absolutely fantastic - we brought some wine and they paired the courses we ordered with the wines to create an incredible experience. The short rib entree was one of the most incredible things I've ever eaten.
Excellent food. Menu is great because you can make an entrée an appetizer and vice versa. The service was also great. A bit pricey but worth it!
The restaurant was okay not amazing or extraordinary.
Staff was welcoming and very accommodating, even though two in our party were almost 2 hours late! Terrific experience.
Perfect experience on a cold January evening. Cozy & chic. Don’t miss the Potato wrapped Halibut!
Fabulous New Year's Eve Dinner, highly recommended. Great food, good service, friendly staff, good wine list. And Amazing Food.
Been twice - food has been on point each time in every way, and the sommelier has simply knocked it out of the park with his wine pairings and explanations/conversations. We’ll go back as much as we can afford. :-)
Truly amazing food. Almost parallel in all of NYC
Yellow fin tuna appetizer was a perfect opener. Half portion of lobster and short ribs was a creative update on surf and turf. Service was friendly and personable. A wonderful experience.
We took my daughter and her boyfriend here for her 21st birthday dinner. We had the smaller of the tasting menus. All was lovely, food, service, ambiance, etc. All the courses were fine, and the wine list was also very nice (including numerous affordable French wines). While it was not cheap (our prix-fix was in the $80's) it was quite a nice value and compares very well to other top places. We had not been back since it reopened after the fire; it is back and running like its old self.
One of the most lovely restaurants in Manhattan. Terrific food in a gorgeous setting with professional and friendly waitstaff. Wine list is creative as the restaurant tries very hard to offer interesting choices. This should be on everyone's must try list!!
They are amazing and so friendly and accomadating! They treat vegans and vegetarians with the same respect as regular diners and it shows in the food!
Always spectacular, you will dig deep, but worth it. Have been a couple times and will return again
I have intended on eating at Mas for sometime because I knew it took pride in its use of farm fresh ingredients. Although I found the food good I think that there are so many better options available to the New York diner. The setting is rather unremarkable and the service is mediocre. The menu is diverse and certainly not extensive. This is not necessarily a criticism but in other restaurants I could make the same observation about, the selections I actually was excited about were few and far between. I can’t really say anything “bad” but I can’t honestly recommend Mas to a fellow diner. I feel the dollars spent here could be put to better use at so many other restaurants.
We had a family holiday dinner at Mas Farmhouse and it was superb from start to finish.
