Beautiful deck dining for brunch. Amazing food! Very helpful staff.
Food and service were really good. However it’s tough to hear the person across from you because it’s VERY loud. Despite that, I’ll go back.
Loved everything about this restaurant except the noise level. Easily the noisiest restaurant I’ve ever eaten in. Excruciatingly loud. Had to shout to communicate with table mates. Waiter had to crouch next to us to hear and be heard. Needs some fabric on windows and elsewhere to absorb some of the sound. Maybe acoustic ceiling panels? To top it all off they had a band with electric guitar playing in bar area adding to the general noise of dining room. I would only recommend this place to a friend with the caveat that thy should not expect a relaxed dinner or an intimate conversation .
Fun atmosphere with well-spaced tables. Service friendly and professional. Food was very good and the menu has good choices with interesting specials. Quality of food was excellent and the portions were generous but not overwhelming.
Second visit to Marygold's since its opening. Food was interesting and well-prepared, selection of wines by-the-glass and boutique cocktails was quite intriguing, server "Mary" was alone worth the trip--kept us informed and entertained.
First time there - have eaten at their sister restaurant though ! Wonderful “ summer “ night in October to be outside . Great staff & waiter named John - amazing calamari appetizer and our main entrees were terrific too . Topped it off w beignets that were scrumptious ! It was a perfect dinner All around ! Can’t wait to have my daughter’s bridal shower there .
The duck dish is amazing.....paired with the cabbage & sweet potato puree......yum! The drinks we ordered were a little on the sweet side, so looking forward to trying others when we are there next time. Super pleasant staff, lovely atmosphere.
We had brunch at Marigolds Sunday and the food was delicious, the service was great and the new decor is beautiful.
We were very disappointed in the food an atmosphere. Being part of an Inn you would think it would be more cozy and the food would be better. The bread was nice an doughy but cold which ruined the beginning of our experience. The calamari was over cooked. It came out so quick that you know if was precooked and thrown into the fryer again. My husband's Wagyu stead had no flavor. I had the cod with lobster sauce. A portion of it was cold and the cod had no flavor. The flavor came from the lobster sauce drenched all over it. The manager very quickly thanked us for coming. He spoke so fast I didn't hear much of what he said, however he never asked how our meal was. For appearance purposes, white table cloths would have been nice and would have dressed the place up. It reminded me of a cafeteria. The best part was the waitress. She was very sweet and attentive.
The acoustics in the bar area leave much to be desired. The service and food were good, nothing exceptional. Fish was slightly dry for two diners.
Thanks for such a wonderful evening.
Your outstanding service and hospitality are appreciated. The fed was delicious and can’t wait to come back
We had a fantastic time and loved all the food we got. The staff was excellent. We stayed after dinner and moved to the bar for drinks and had a great time there, too! Musician was excellent.
This was our first visit to the newly renovated Newtown Inn, now Mary Golds. We ate outside on a pretty patio. The menu offered unusual, creative dishes and the food was very good with one caveat. The chef and/or kitchen staff are too liberal with their use of butter and other dressings. Less would be better.
We sat in the bar area for dinner. It was pretty loud but we could still carry on a conversation. The food and service were excellent! The four of us all loved our meal. The renovations are beautiful! Wonderful night!
Very good avocado toast
Excellent Service, waitress was wonderful. She walked us around the whole place, wonderful tour. Excellent food recommendation as well.
Very pleasant women from North Carolina. Steak Frittes was awesome.
Great Expereince! Johnny the manager was super and made sure we had a great evening. The food was very good as was the whole experience. The staff is very friendly and makes sure that everyone is well taken care of.
Always great food and service!
Food was great, service was a little on the slow side, was almost 20 minutes from sitting down that we got our drinks and put our entree orders in. We were inside and the patio was open, so maybe that explains it, but the bartender was not making that many drinks in the interim…
We celebrated my sisters birthday with brunch at Marigold! What a wonderful experience from start to finish. Johnny and Julia really took care of us and it was a perfect experience. Can’t wait to come back!
Great place but so noisy we kept saying what to each other.
Good food though extremely limited lunch menu. Wonderful waitress. Noise level...owing to a private party loud and raucous for 1/2 our time there. Absolutely no atmosphere or charm to the decor...at least don’t have dead baby’s breath on the tables as decoration.,!
We were the only customers at Marygold's at 4:00 Sunday afternoon, so service, noise level, attention, etc. were close to ideal. Food was well-prepared, interesting and tasty. Entertaining cocktails were offered plus an adequate but basic wine list.
The experience food was great service was excellent ambience was amazing. A little pricey but worth the money.
The food is among the best in Newtown. The chef is skilled. It’s a well run restaurant and the renovation was spectacular. I highly recommend.
Different Menu, very good choices!
Always a pleasure to dine at Marygold’s
A bit too loud. Can’t hear each other talk during dinner. Great service, food, and drinks.
Fabulous place .. waitress was awesome
Food was outstanding, as was the service, especially when the restaurant was very busy. I would highly recommend Marygold’s to friends and family. Loved being able to use the rocking chairs on the porch after dinner in such a lovely setting. The only factor I would try to improve upon is the noise level in the restaurant. It was difficult to hear table conversation due to the load noise. Overall, 5 stars.
Very good food off a somewhat limited menu. Service was attentive and the overall experience was great.
Meal and service were wonderful, and we will go back. But the noise level made it truly difficult to hear one another at our table for six. We'll just have to stay away from popular nights (weekends) and have an earlier dinner (not a big fan of that). But please know there are sound-reducing methods that could help!
Great dinner. Relaxed setting, good service, some interesting and creative dishes. We recommend the ribeye steak, the whipped ricotta and cucumbers, and the tuna tartare.
Great atmosphere! Staff is wonderful. Portion sizes are a bit small, but the food is delicious! Make sure you save room for dessert, you will not be disappointed.
Just ok... we were a little disappointed in a couple of things. 1st thing we ordered was the Grilled Octopus which they were out of, so our 2nd choice was the Asparagus and Cherry salad. Considering the name was asparagus and cherry salad, I would have expected to have a lot more asparagus and less mixed greens, but it was mostly mixed greens. The asparagus looked like slivered almonds, which had no taste at all! Lastly my husband ordered the Roasted Halibut... the description said it had capers in it, and there was no capers to be found!! Overall, it wasn't what we expected and especially for what we paid... unfortunately we won't be running back there anytime soon.
Last minute reservation for us that turned out very well. Live music added to the enjoyment.
It was our first time at Marygolds. The service, atmosphere, food and drinks were on point! The scallop risotto a must people! We will be back!
Delightful dinner outside on the deck with our family!
Having never been to Marygolds were we just thrilled with every aspect of our experience. Every staff member was incredible- friendly, professional and knowledgeable. The atmosphere is lovely and the food was exceptional.
