Marvino's Italian Kitchen
Marvinos is an Italian restaurant serving authentic flavors of both Northern and Southern Italy. The aesthetic inside the restaurant is as authentic Mediterranean as it gets. The warm lights reflect off the stucco walls, and pictures and trinkets from Italy and Sicily line the walls. Marvino's also has a special catering menu, so it is able to accommodate large groups who have a craving for pizza and pasta.
Marvino's menu is all about the pizza. Not only are there several different takes on pizza on the menu all the time, Marvino's is constantly adding new seasonal varieties to experiment with new flavors and give regulars something fresh to try out. One such example is the Houston Texans chicken pizza with jalapenos, Mexican cheese blend and BBQ chicken.
I look forward to HRW so I can try out new restaurants. I had always wanted to try Marvino’s since it’s in the neighborhood. It was the first and last time that I will visit. The food was mediocre at best—my Eggplant Parmesan was overcooked and flavorless, as was the spaghetti Pomodoro that accompanied it. The restaurant was noisy and the tables too close to enjoy conversation. The waitstaff seemed harried and inattentive. My water glass was never refilled during the two hour dinner! It was a very disappointing evening to say the least.
We had three birthdays and had a great time. Not a lot of noise so we could have a conversation. Thank you.
I know I’ll regret leaving this review.... this is the BEST new find for me. I could eat here every day!!! Service, food everything is fabulous. Had one of the lunches for restaurant week. Best Fried Green Tomatoes I’ve ever tasted. Salad with salmon....sooo good. Brought half home for another meal. And delicious Bread Pudding for dessert. All for $20!!! David our server was attentive and personable. Will return soon for sure. First statement means everyone will be flocking to this place... but it is large so hopefully I’ll always get in.
We were a party of 6 on a Sunday evening.
Service started off slowly and then got worse. They were obviously under-staffed and it showed. When we were able to flag down our waiter, he'd pass of the request to a busboy and then be surprised that whatever we asked for never showed up.
The food was, without exception, very good. HOWEVER . . . how can an Italian restaurant run out of Chianti?? That's totally inexcusable. I mean, it'd be as bad as running out of cannoli. Wait for it ... yep, no cannoli for you!
That's just an indication of our experience.
The salads are the best ever! Portions are very big ( lunch the next day). Everything going by makes you want to come back and try them all. I highly endorse and recommend this restaurant!!!
Pleasantly surprised by the attentive staff and service. Food was excellent and the fact they participate in Houston Restaurant Weeks was an added bonus! Will definitely return soon
Our waitress Jessica Pena was amazing. She should get a raise. A definite keeper.
We would definitely go there again! Only consideration is that it seems a bit more pricey than Houston restaurants in general
The food was great, service was great, very courteous staff. The music was nice, and kept at a reasonable volume. The whole atmosphere was enjoyable. Would definitely go again.
Our visit was good. One thing I notices the manager never came to our table and he passed by our table several times. He had to pass by our table to get to two of the tables he visited. Either you visit all tables or don't visit none at all. :(
My son was impressed ( and he is very picky). Food and service was really great.
We have been to Marvino's many times but never for Happy Hour...and what a joke! Their website clearly reads "Enjoy complimentary buffet style appetizers. We expected to find a buffet offering a number of different appetizers...not! While our drinks came fairly quickly, we waited at least 10 mins to receive a plate that had 2 tiny meatballs. Ordered another round of drinks but did not receive any more of the tiny *but tasty) meatballs or anything else for that matter. We didn't notice until we got home, but we were overcharged on 2 drinks ($7 vs the $4 they advertise). When we checked in for dinner, and let them know we had a reservation via OpenTable, the hostess said "yes, we have open tables". I tried to explain but it was too much for her. She went and got one of the managers and he said the exact same thing!
They don't know what OpenTable is?? We all enjoyed our entrees at dinner but the services was mediocre. They were out of the wine we wanted so the server offered something else and charged us the difference instead of matching the price of what we ordered. It was only $8 but it the principle of the thing.
Over priced for the amount of food.
Wedding soup had uncooked vegetables.
Sangria tasted like colored water.
Could determine which plate was medium and medium well.
$250 for fathers day was a waste of money.
Two couples met for dinner out. We had a drink at the bar first. The bartender was very knowledgeable... he made my husband a Rob Roy, it’s a very old school drink that most bartenders today never heard of! We all ordered something different to eat and everything was delicious! Very nice experience overall!
We went for a business lunch and the food was very good. It felt very much like a family style meal as the tables are round. The server accidentally spilled oil on one of the guest's blouse but immediately took steps to fix it. The manager was also very responsive so we were appreciative and impressed. Accidents happen.
Everything was good however I had to ask for clean silverware. The place setting on the table were dirty.
Great service and special table attention
The waiter was a little overwhelmed because it was 26 people. The manager said it would be to waiters assisting us and taking orders but it was only one..this is my second time visiting the first time I gave it a 5 with just me and my wife, but this time I guess because it was 26 people things was not very organized. First it took too long for the waiter to bring out the bread I really had to tell him to bring it out...second we needed one more person taking the orders from right to left management should have sent to people.
Third the bread finally came out after we had been sitting down for 45 minutes and one of my guess went ahead and place this order he could not wait for the appetizers.
The appetizers came out pretty fast wasn't too long but my waiter was not in tune with the guess he should have started taking the appetizer order as soon as he and the other person working with him set the bread down... Our Waiter keep Leaving and coming back as though he had something else to do.... He should have remained and paid attention at all times but because it was just him he was trying to go back and help the other person bring the bread and bring the water....
For 26 people we only had one waiter and a server bringing food that was not enough.
And for the food once we ordered, took too long to come out and that is the same thing that happened when my wife and I came we got the bread very quick we got our appetizer very well but my wife and I was a little annoyed the first time because the food that we ordered took too long and it was just the two of us... Our waiter his name was Chris, overall I give him a 5 he was patient but he was overwhelmed. I tipped him 20% plus an extra $15...
But please have the waiters bring out the bread immediately with some butter.
I suggest very strongly.
Please put a English word with Italian words.. on the menu, it's hard to order food when you can't speak ltalian. We speak English.. it's embarrassing to ask what does this mean.
Post Senior Graduation with family
Great Service! Excellent food and serving size! Marvino's is my to go to restaurant whenever I crave Italian food.
Great service from Jose. He was prompt, efficient, knowledgeable, and watchful for beverage refills. The food was outstanding in flavor, presentation, and quantity. Each of the six diners were impressed with Marvino's with only two of them being repeat customers. A great restaurant for a great meal, great service, and great value.
As always the food was great. They sat us quickly. We have been to places over and over again that even tho you have a reservation you still have to wait especially on busy days like Mothers day. Not the case at Marvino's. Our waitress was AMAZING! I wish I got her name, sorry. Food was great as well.
Great food and the service has always been remarkable. The price is very reasonable and I highly recommend trying it out for yourself.
We were disappointed by our Mother's Day visit. The restaurant was serving a prix fixe menu; they did not have that posted on Open Table when I was making the reservation.
The manager and the staff were unwilling to discuss an option for my disabled son. He has a limited diet, but can usually be accommodated with simple changes. The waiter and the manager told us they could not serve a simple pasta dish because they were only serving the prix fixe menu.
We came here for my boyfriend’s birthday dinner. This is easily our favorite Italian restaurant in the area. We didn’t have a great experience this time due to one of our servers. He was rude to all of the tables in the group area that he was taking care of, and audibly sarcastic and overall disrespectful.
Having said that, every other experience here has been nothing short of amazing. Some of the best flavor I’ve ever had. The manager here is great and will usually stop by your table to see how everything went. I definitely would recommend this place, with the right server.
Thank you for making my son’s birthday dinner special. Great service. Great food as always!
My lunch order was wrong. I ordered fish and received chicken but everything else was good.
We had their Easter Brunch!
Easter Sunday lunch reservations. We were there by 11:20. The waiter was polite and then apologetic as we waited forever for our entrees. They informed us a few days prior that there would be a set menu to accommodate all. But this apparently did not help. Despite waiting for an hour, the poached eggs were hard boiled, the steak was warm at best, etc. Portions were large. I can’t imagine how long people had to wait as it got crowded.
Attended Easter brunch here with family after church. The menu had good variety, portions were just right, food was well prepared and presented, staff was professional and friendly, and brunch price was reasonable. Altogether a pleasant experience.
Family Easter gathering. Wonderful service and delicious food!
Service was slow. Food is outstanding. Very nice place with great food. Waitstaff requires patience.
We had a delicious dinner at Marino’s. My husband said his Lasagna was the best he’d ever had. Our table service was excellent the desserts looked scrumptious (but we were too full to partake) and it was just a delightful evening all around.
Marvino's never disappoints! The bowl of bread and bread dip that comes out in the beginning is wonderful. It's different kinds of bread. I think they have the best Chicken Parm in town, and I consider myself a chicken parm connoisseur! Their drinks are always good as well. We will definitely be back and continue to bring new friends to experience this great establishment!
Very nice atmosphere. Have noticed over the last couple visits that service has been upped a notch (spread the knapkins, do drink menus before food menu...) That’s nice. We have gone to get fresh oysters, which you wouldn’t expect at an Italian restraunt, but the are very good. Food is 4 out of five. Service is 4 out of 5, but you can tell they are still trying to up their game. Price is not cheap, but one of the best places in Cypress.
The value for this menu is terrible, tiny salad for price. One dish was under cooked they offered to replace meal which came after everyone else was done. Did not offer to even comp a dessert. Lunch is ok value but dinner is a rip off.
The service by our server was excellent! Chris was a great pleasure for us and very efficient. The food was fantastic and the atmosphere was very enjoyable. We will be regular customers as well. Thanks!
A great restaurant in Cypress , Texas. Have been there numerous times. Food is always delicious and service is good. The manager comes around to see how everything is going, which is nice.
