High quality sushi at $14.99 for lunch and $25.99 for dinner. Weekend brunch special art $15.99 with ramen.
Great deal you would never experienced before.
Very good Maki. Exceptional service by very friendly staff.
Great dumpling appetizer.
Came with group of 6. Service was great—timely and attentive. Quality of sushi was mediocre at best. Flavorless and sushi fish fell apart to touch, as though freezer burned. Appreciated the cheerful server but won’t be back.
I love this place and I’ve been here quite a few times. The atmosphere is great and the waitress is really nice. Food comes out fairly quickly. My only complaint is that each time I go there, it seems like their rice becomes more and more dry almost making it impossible to eat the sushi. Also, the rice to fish/other ingredient ratio has become a lot higher in rice. Not sure if it’s done on purpose so we get full faster but I’ll say that I was not as pleased w the food this time around. :/
Great service, mediocre food.
Great can’t wait to go back
This was our second visit. I didn't think I would like an "all you can eat" sushi restaurant but this was far from an "all you can eat" atmosphere. The staff was very helpful and attentive on both visits (different servers), and the food was very good. So far, favorite rolls are Red Elephant and Kamikaze. Favorite starters are Sake Carpaccio and Pa Dak. Nigiri sushi was all good! The one disappointment was the Flaming Shrimp roll. The flaming part was fun but the roll was a little bland for our taste. Still glad we tried it and would recommend for the novelty of it. Excellent value and off-street parking on the east side is a nice bonus. This is our new go-to sushi place in Milwaukee.
Food was good, been consistent. Not amazing but then average. They will not do sashimi, so you pull it off the rice but do they charge you for the rice?
Our waiter was about as green as you can get. Struggled and forgot. Not sure if they can keep front of the house staff. Appears constant stream of new people. I needed something and asked the sushi chef, he barked for the waiter to come... I could have done that.
Seems like they should have this down better.
Food was solid. We had a good time either way.
The value was great. I wish they had eel as an option. They really like their aioli on their rolls and we’re a little to heavy handed with it which detracted from the quality of the finished product. Our waitress was nice and attentive, if a little monotone. She also forgot some of my orders, but I was so full it didn’t really matter.
Perhaps they are still working out their new format, but it doesn't work. I am always wary of all-you-can-eat sushi but I like Kanpai and I wanted this to work. It doesn't. Service was agonizingly slow (perhaps a strategy for making money off all you can eat?), options are limited, and sushi was average. After waiting forever, we finally got our plate, started to eat, then they took it away because it was the wrong order! I've NEVER had that happen in a restaurant. Please go back to a regular sushi place and I might return.
The food was phenomenal!
The food was excellent- the all you can eat sushi was well worth its price of $25.99, and also included unlimited appetizers. We had a party of 11 and sat in a private room, where we took our shoes off. It was very fun, and had a very nice ambiance. My only complaint was that it took quite a while to get our checks at the end of the night, but we did split them up, which obviously was a bit time consuming considering how large our group was. Definitely plan on going back.
Terrible experience from the beginning to the end.
They may get better in the future, but there are many other places oriented to customers satisfaction instead of strictly following their menu guidelines with no adjustments or substitution...
Poor service, dirty restroom, questionable quality food.
Clean and quiet. The food was good and came out in a timely manner. They had a private room for a bigger group as well.
They was scrambling. Shared a bit too much info on just how frenzied they were. Didn’t inspire confidence.
I would definitley recommend Kanpai 2. The food was great and the staff very friendly.
We love sushi and we love Kanpai 2! Our waiter Paris is a favorite of ours as well. Overall great experience. Very tasty food and good service.
We had an excellent waiter who explained the menu. He even tasted the low sodium soy sauce to make sure that the soy sauce he brought us was what we asked for. He also have saki suggestions!
The food was good - same menu as Kanpai in the 3rd Ward. The service was very disappointing. The hostess denied our request to move to another table. We were told it was a "flow" issue - whatever that means. No one else was seated at the table we requested the entire time were were there. The waitress was not engaging - she seemed more interested in hanging out at the bar. We got two bottles of wine, and she did not open either one or offer a taste as is customary. There were birthday presents at the table, and no one offered a simple "happy birthday."
I will be sticking with Rice & Roll or Kawa Ramen & Sushi for my east side sushi needs.
Fresh & tasty shushi for a family get together w/ wonderful service to make for a great evening.
We went to Izumi's since it opened and were saddened when it closed last year. I was intrigued that another Japanese restaurant was going in to the space, and I had never been to Kanpai's Third Ward location. We went as a group of 9 for my birthday and were seated in the tatami room. The food was fresh and delicious and the service was great. The atmosphere of the tatami room was perfect for our group. I highly recommend Kanpai!
Sushi was super fresh! Will definitely come back here
Service was terrible. Food was dry (rice and dumplings).
Tip was included when they handed us the check and we now know why the service was poor. Food good. Only two waiters for food and drinks for the whole place.
We really wanted to like KanPai 2 and were excited to try it.
Unfortunately it turned out to be marginal sushi at best with poor knife work (HUGE chunks of fish that were hard to eat) and an uninspired menu that is focused on simple dishes of basic rolls and sashimi.
Really disappointed overall
We return whenever we are in Milwaukee. Excellent. Artful.
Great place with great food. Not busy which was both good and surprising.
Love the sushi (and drinks and appetizers) at Kanpai. Food is just as good as the third ward location, and the ambience here is even better. It was quiet on the slow night we dined here. Great flavors. Great drinks. Great service. Parking can be a pain in this neighborhood, but we found a free street spot not too far away.
Great location. Parking in back. Wonderful remodel of prior resturant. Service was excellent. Food average. Hope they are still working on it.
Food is fresh and delicious. Everything we tried was very good. Would not change a thing regarding our selections. The avocado appetizer was outstanding. The rolls were good and so were the main entrées. Restaurant and restrooms were spotless, except for the windowsills. A little tidying up in this area is suggested.
I’ve dined at many sushi restaurants in and out of state, and by far, this place serves the FRESHEST sushi. Portions are generous and sashimi cuts are nice and thick. Price seems reasonable for its fresh ingredients served here. Cheap doesn’t always mean value when you are talking sushi.
The avocado appetizer was excellent. All of our food was fresh, presented in a creative manner and very tasty. Service was great. Highly recommend this restaurant for everyday dining as well as special locations.
Food was great and beautifully presented. Went with another couple, and we all were pleased with our choices. Will definitely be back!
This is the second installment of the best susi restaurant in town. They know what they’re doing. It’s a great place with great service to get great food that is good for you.
