Martine's River House
Seasonal Dishes. Classically Inspired. Contemporary Feel.
Loved Martine’s, would highly recommend. Delicious food, friendly waitstaff, great ambiance.
Lovely setting, good menu, attentive and amiable service.
We love the outdoor patio here on the river. Very pretty and much less crazy than The Landing. We went for lunch and had a very healthy pork loin taco. Drinks were good as well. It's not a huge menu but what they do they do well. It got so crowded in New Hope around dinner time we ended up coming back, but ate at the inside bar. Very generous drinks, great brussel sprouts! Nice group of people there too, and the workers were very friendly and competent. i would have no problem recommending Martine's.
We went for dinner on a warm spring evening which was perfect for eating on the back deck overlooking the river. But they were so busy that the service was slow and a little lacking. The food & drinks were great though so we’ll definitely be back.
We went to Martine’s for restaurant week and will probably return. The service was outstanding as were our appetizers. We both had the fried chicken as a main course but it was very disappointing. The restaurant week menu was quite limited so we’d like to see what it will be like with the full menu next time.
Food has not been as good as in the past our last 2 visits within past 3 months. Would go for drinks and apps in the summer to enjoy the view but not for great food . Something is different .
Martine's is known for it's scallops so I ordered them. Mine came with the burnt side down so that I wouldn't notice - I noticed. They should have redone them. There were only 3 tables taken on a Friday evening with a show at the Playhouse starting later that evening and they still didn't take the time to do the right thing.
I was disappointed by the hostess. I made a reservation and she ignored us. Then they put us upstairs by ourselves. I asked to be in the main dining room. They moved us downstairs. I noticed she put another couple at a open table who came in after us and told our waiter to stick us upstairs. Poor customer service. She was very ignorant. Our waiter did open up a table for us after I complained about being put upstairs.
Martine’s is a perfect spot for any meal any time. Cozy with a view of the river, the food is excellent and the drinks and wine selection very good. We head to Martine’s for lunch and dinner whenever we can.
Normally the food at Martine's very good, but during my last visit I ordered the chicken and it was dry and not very appetizing.
This was my first time at Martine's. The food and service were very good. Definitely going again.
Limited, over-priced lunch menu. Nice view.
Closed and cancelled my reservation and no one reached out. Very inconvenient had friends from out of town visiting.
We had a overall good experience at Martine's. We both had the scallops. They were good, but nothing special. Service was adequate, although our waiter did not introduce himself. I think we go back and try some other menu options, but there are other places we would go first.
Great little place tucked back off of the main road through New Hope. Beautiful view of the Delaware. Only downside was the hostess seemed overwhelmed trying to get everyone seated. We had reservations and didn’t get seated until 45 minutes later. We waited at the bar and I think she would have forgotten about us if I hadn’t asked her when our table would be ready.. other than that the service was good by the waitress and the food delicious!
Meals were delicious and perfectly. I had lamb chops, my spouse a steak, each prepared to the temperature requested. Vegetable substitutions cheerfully accommodated. One of our go to places and a perfect celebration location.
Very few menu options (5 entrees if I remember correctly). Have had better quality for less money. Nice location.
The service was terrible. Waiter didn't acknowledge us many times and food was extremely slow. Many tables came and left while we waited for our meal. Waiter never once said sorry or acknowledge the long wait. Just unacceptable.
Have been there several times and always have a great experience. Food is great and service is very good.
Excellent all around!
Martine's serves excellent food and the location (looking out on the Delaware) is amazing. The two times I've been there, however, I felt the service was slow--especially the first contact by the server. Nice restaurant.
One meal was excellent - the other was overcooked (dry).
Very loud that caused confusion over our order.
Waitress was very accommodating and respectful -
My crab cake appetizer was bland, almost tasteless. The sauce that should have given it its flavor was a tiny drop on top of it. The other 3 members of the party enjoyed their salads. They ran out of my first choice for an entree and I ordered the lamb chops special. I was glad that they had run out of the scallops. The lamb was perfectly cooked to the medium rare that I requested. The broth under it that the vegetable were in was magnificent -spicey and plentiful. Unlike most restaurants, the dish was served with a spoon for the broth. I couldn't finish it and took the remainder home. There was enough to fill a soup bowl. Everyone else enjoyed their steaks which were cooked exactly as requested and the portion was more than ample. The tira misu was pleasant and attractively presented. The problem with the restaurant, which was very full on this January Saturday night was that it was so noisy that you couldn't hear the person that you were sitting next to, even if you were basically yelling. There is nothing to absorb sound in the room and the ambiance suffers from not being able to enjoy the company with whom you're dining. It was too dark to take advantage of what must be a lovely view of the water in daylight or early evening. At times the service was understandably slow, but our server stopped by our table to let us know that our food would be coming soon. It was nice to know that we weren't forgotten.
We had a lovely dinner at Martine's. The flavors for our mains - the lamb and scallops - were incredibly well balanced. We had a perfect table overlooking the river and excellent service. It was quite loud in the restaurant, though I think much of that was due to one extremely loud four-top!
Drinks good. Cozy bar. Nice views. Food was fine, nothing to gush about and not terrible. A definite for pre-dinner drinks!
Our waitress was friendly and exceptional. Great service. Did not interrupt conversation at 4 top table. She was attentive to ordering special ordering requests. We will be back because of her great, friendly service.
Thank you very much for your kind review. I will make sure that I point out your wonderful review to Erica, it's always nice to hear a compliment. Thank you again and hope to see you soon Neya
I have been coming to Martines from the very beginning.
For some reason the night we were there, everything about the food was off.
We were very disappointed.
Food and ambiance very good. Our dinner was 2 hours and 15 minutes long. The wait staff of 3 could not adequately handle both dining room floors . There was a big time gap between salad and entree.
Don't plan anything afterwards. We will go again knowing this.
No vegetarian options on a holiday prix fixe menu (which they did not tell us about when they called to confirm). So we left and had to scramble for food elsewhere.
The service was poor and slow, the food was mediocre and the prices were outrageous for what we got ($140 for two entrees and 3 drinks). We were handed the check without being asked if we wanted coffee or desert. And if you're gonna charge those prices, put the butter in a dish, don't serve it in wrapped butter continentals like a cafeteria.
This was a 1st date/ blind date visit for me. Food, Service, Ambiance, is reliably good so it makes for a great dining experience
Came here for Thanksgiving-just 2 of us. Upon sitting down, my friend had a funny look on her face-turns out her chair was broken! We told the waiter and he did not take the chair away, he just said, "oh, no". We asked for water and the waiter spilled some on my menu (which was laminated). He apologized, took the menu, shook off the water on the floor, and gave it back to me. Still had spots on it so I wiped it with my cloth napkin. We never received any bread or were asked if we wanted any, yet there were small plates on the table, and we later noticed bread on other tables. I waited quite awhile for my wine, then the waiter came back and asked me again what kind I wanted. It was 4:30 and I ordered the Thanksgiving turkey special. I was told that they were low on sweet potatoes, and was asked if it be okay if they gave me regular mashed. I wondered if they would run out of everything for the later diners. Our food finally arrived, and we looked at each other after a few bites, "Is your food hot?" "No, not really". My turkey was lukewarm but the potatoes were hotter. The turkey was good, but not slices as I had expected, but small chunks- there was a bit of gristle and some skin too. The vegetables were a little under cooked, but good. We decided to get dessert, apple pie and pumpkin pie, and I ordered a decaf coffee. The pies were small slices and very cold as if just taken out of the fridge. The crusts on both were thick and tough-hard to cut with a fork. My coffee was lukewarm. I complained to the waiter about the coffee and he apologized and took it away. He came back with another cup saying, "This is from a fresh pot". As I was up until the wee hours of the morning, I think he probably gave me regular, not decaf. Considering the lengths they went to to confirm that we were coming (a phone call, another reminder email and an email to confirm (again), you would think they would be ready to serve an expected number of people a HOT meal.
Went to Martine's for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner, and they did not disappoint. We were pleased with the food and service. And the chef even accommodated our request for pumpkin pie.
Beautiful spot on the Delaware and lovely when the weather permits sitting on the patio. Our server was great and we got our food promptly which was important because we were going to a show at the Playhouse. The food was good, but not great, and we were put off by the note on the menu about "no substitutions." In this time of customer service, that doesn't set the right tone.
Our waiter was outstanding! Unfortunately I do not remember his name. He couldn’t have been more pleasant! One in our party had limited things she could eat and he worked this out for her perfectly.
Beautiful view of the Delaware River from the inside tables, nice place settings, and the food was very enjoyable. Just wish parking was easier in New Hope.
One of my all time favorite restaurants (for decades).
Sadly, we were never able to reach the restaurant... after frustrating 40 minute search for parking (and paying for parking that actually didn't exist in one of the locations recommended by the restaurant when we called to let them know we were running late because of parking), we gave up and drove down the road for a more relaxed experience. Unless you are Ubering in or staying in town and can walk there, don't bother. Also not very impressed that when I called to cancel the reservation, the restaurant didn't bother to pick up my call. Given that you can't cancel a reservation on Open Table once you have reached your booking time, they no doubt wasted a good half an hour with an empty table.
Very nice atmosphere and service was great. The food was of good portions and very nice presentation. Good value for the price and overlooks the river for a romantic evening dinner.
Food was Amazing! Our waiter was our best friend by the end of the night. Cozy atmosphere. Will be going back.
