Met friends for lunch. It was great. We sat for more than 2 hours no body rushed us. The food was delicious.

This is our “Go to” place in midtown for great food, service & atmosphere. We love our regular wait staff (Sonni & Tahir), as well as Gabe, the wine guy! Great staff, from the greeters on, suggest great management! Keep it up!

By pure coincidnce, I was in this restaurant four years ago on the exact same day. Dinner is lovely and the service was quite wonderful - attentive yet not over-bearing. I had the goat’s cheese tart, the salmon and the beautiful chocolate mouse. Everybody in the table loved the food. Ambience was good and patrons are well behaved.

Special thanks to Kristin who has been patient and lovely the whole night. It was great being in Marseille once more. Thank you.

One of our party became ill before the entree was served, but after she had ordered. When her food arrived she was unable to eat it, so the waiter offered to keep it hot in the kitchen. Unfortunately, she became more ill as time passed and was not able to eat. The waiter showed such concern and said he would speak with the manager and not charge us for the uneaten dinner. The manager came to our table to express concern. They were so incredibly lovely.
This has been my go to place in the theater district for awhile. Through their kindnesses they have endeared the place to me forever.
So sorry I did not get the waiter’s name.

Our table was missing napkins and knives and we had to ask for them—twice. Otherwise, the food was good and the wait staff friendly.

Some form of misunderstanding as the dinner menu wasn’t available for brunch as I had been told when I called in, before making the reservation. But we ordered some good dishes and had a good time anyway. I didn’t appreciate that the waiter forgot to bring the birthday dessert for my husband but there was a shift change so there might have been another misunderstanding.

Marseille has been a favorite of mine in the theater district for many, many years. Last Saturday, I went to a matinee and had brunch there for the first time. It was excellent, both food and service.

Dinner before the theater on a Thursday eve—the food was delicious (short ribs and my friend had bouillabaisse). We started with the Lillet spritz which was light and tasty. The meal was excellent. Service outstanding. And we loved the atmosphere—it was a first visit for both of us. The restaurant is more spacious than expected, good for old friends to catch up meaning the noise level isn’t too bad, and fun people watching. Will definitely go again soon.

Friendly and professional service. All the French bistro classics, prepared very well. Conveniently located for the theatre district.

A notch better than what is offered in the area. Convenience to the theater and a little bit of ambience is what brought us to have dinner here before Moulin Rouge.

One of our favorite NYC places. I have NEVER had a bad meal at Marseille. The escargot were delicious and my Long Island duck was prepared perfectly. (I have had duck 3 times in NYC in the last month and this was by far, the best!).

It’s a little expensive, but something more affordable can be found on the menu, and the service and food are very good. I remember I stopped going there years ago because the service was rude, but it’s all new people now, while the menu remained more or less the same: reliably tasty.

When I’m looking for a place to eat in an area of NYC that I’m not familiar, I check to see if one of Kieth McNally’s restaurants is in the area. You can be pretty sure of good food and an interesting decor. Service can go either way. But it won’t disappoint.
I wanted a change from my go-to restaurant in the theatre district (Victor’s Cuban Restaurant) so was very pleased to find Keith had opened Marseille. It’s really perfect for before or after theater dining. It’s just enough out of the way of the Times Square craziness but walking distance to several theaters.
The food was very good. We both had the French onion soup. We’d been wanting a decent FO soup and this didn’t disappoint. We also started with the mushroom tart which had plenty of meaty mushrooms. The soup was so rich we decided to split the steak frites. The steak was cooked to order and the fries were excellent - crispy on the outside. We asked for more bernaise sauce and the manager brought us an ample amount. Yum. Who needs ketchup.
The drinks were well made. They also offer a carafe of a house wine, which was decent.
There weren’t many people there - it was a Monday - and our server seemed Annoyed that we were taking our time. I felt judged. Older couple from out of town. Toward the end of the meal she introduced a new server and said, ‘They’re sending me home.’ I wanted to either ask what she had done, or suggest she get some rest and maybe be in a better mood tomorrow.
In all, I feel I’ve found a good go to option for pre or post theatre dining.

Beautiful evening. Our hostess greeted us and wished us happy 30th anniversary. She said they fulfilled our request for a nice table. It was indeed. Our server Shameem was outstanding. He was super polite, professional, attentive and kbuekedgrable. He told me breast duck was sold out so I inquired what other dishes he recommend. I took his advice on the halibut. It was divine. My husband had the NY strip and ER both had the French onion soup as starters and shared apple tart for dessert. We are so thrilled to celebrate our milestone anniversary here. We would love to come back in our next visit to NYC. Thank you all for a special and memorable evening.

Under "noise level" I wanted to say "too loud" but you only offered "energetic". Hearing loud rock music blaring from the bar area and in the dining area ruined the French ambiance you have attempted to create. It sounded like an 80s pick up bar. I think something calmer and more "French" would be more appropriate. We always love dining at Marseille before a Sunday matinee. This time we went after the theatre. Is this loud music you are using trying to create a different environment later in the day?

We had to wait at least 15?minutes before we were seated, but everything turned out ok. This was a pre theater dinner and we were concerned. But once we were seated we were served quickly. The duck special was excellent.

My husband had a really lovely birthday celebration-The food and service was so excellent-we so enjoyed being seated in a quiet corner area! If so the best restaurant to have an intimate celebration of life & love! We appreciated the care that was taken to give my husband a Happy Birthday!
Thank you!

Great spot with delicious food. Better service after "pre-theater" dinner times. Inside & outside seating and far enough away from Times Square to enjoy the neighborhood.

Good place to dine pre-theater because of location. It can be quiet and pleasant at non-pre-theater hours, but is pretty loud between 6 and 7:30, except on Mondays. Excellent and extensive selection of wines, reasonable prices for the quality.

Excellent food. Poor inattentive service. Catching up with your coworker and having your lunch at the hostess stand while I’m waiting to be acknowledged and greeted, not a good start. Having to flag our server down EVERY time we needed something not much better. Good thing the restaurant was relatively empty, otherwise our experience would have been MUCH worse, I’m sure. I guess the restaurant was going for that true European experience, where time is of no consequence.

I went with two friends, pre-theatre. One friend and I had the full dinner, appetizer through dessert. The other only wanted soup and a small plate, but was treated just as well, and pronounced himself very happy with what he ate--he particularly liked the onion soup. I had duck for the first time in ages, and really enjoyed that. The service was a little absent-minded, but that has not been a problem in the past. Despite a nice leisurely dinner, we made our show with time to spare.

First, I arrived exhausted and early. The staff was entirely accommodating: I sat at a table near the bar, and a waitperson refilled my water glass regularly.
Then, my guests arrived: service was excellent. The food was delicious. It is such a dependable restaurant.

The food is very good as is the service. However, the noise level is high and it's hard to have a conversation. There is no need to play music when the dining room is full. It's an intrusion on an otherwise good experience
