Marseille offers the tastes of France right in the middle of New York's Theater District. A perfect place for your group to gather before or after your time at the theater.
Marseille Ratings and Reviews
Cozy French restaurant located in Hell's Kitchen near theaters. Our group of four had a lovely dinner and couldn't have been happier with the food, service and ambiance.
I had the buratta to start followed by an excellent Branzino with a curry butter sauce. Our friends started with calamari followed by steak frites and were very pleased as well.
Overall, I would definitely recommend Marseille for an evening with friends where the food must be good and the ambiance cozy. Marseille is perfect for a lovely fall or winter dinner whether you are headed for the theater or just a lovely place to spend a few hours.
My husband and I love this restaurant. We've been there several times and the food and ambiance is wonderful. The wait staff and front desk host are always pleasant and willing to go out of there way for you. No attitude here for sure. The food is delicious and also a good value. Don't hesitate to make a reservations. Been there for date night as well as for a friends get together.
We came for brunch before the theater and were happy with our choices. Unfortunately my polenta with short ribs was not as good as it should have been. The ribs were dry although they were in a red wine sauce. My table mates enjoyed their food. The Pom Frites were excellent and a large portion which we shared. The cookie dessert was delicious. 6 small but really good cookies/brownies. The service was quite good, friendly and helpful.
Went here for my mother's birthday brunch this Sunday. Completely delicious food with a great wait staff. Everyone was extremely professional, and all of our food was delicious, especially the French onion soup and Pain Perdu. It's definitely a splurge, but well worth every penny for the atmosphere & great service. Can't wait to come back!
This is our favorite brunch restaurant in NYC. I had the spinach omelette with feta and my companion had the eggs with crabmeat. There was a generous sprinkling of Xavier on the eggs. The bloody mary came with lots of veggies and horseradish. Glad the 'Brunch Bill' passed last year so you can now get a bloody Mary as early as 10am. Nice for a treat on a travel weekend!
The brunch menu had a good selection; I particularly enjoyed my seafood burger. The spinach and cheese omelet was generous and well done. When you ask for well done fries, you actually get them. Service was a bit uneven, we asked for a cup of tea 3 times before we got it.
This place NEVER disappoints! I’ve eaten at Marseille on romantic date nights with my husband, large groups, & even when my parents were in town to see a show which was my most recent visit. They’re staff is very accommodating, professional, & personable. The setting is gorgeous chic brasserie as you’d see in Paris. And, of course, the food & drinks are AMAZING! I HIGHLY recommend eating here!!!
A little bit of Paris in NYC on 9th Avenue. I love coming here when I want to enjoy simple French food, like Chicken Paillard or Steak Frites. Excellent pastry and sorbet selections, and well-chosen wines to pair with your meal. It can be a bit noisy at times, but it's good, café ambience. Two and three-course prix-fixe offerings allow you to pace yourself. It's a go-to place before a matinée, and you won't feel rushed.
We arrived early and had a couple drinks at the bar, which was nice with good service, but then did not get seated until after our reservation time. Although we were promised a nice seat, we ended up in a corner bench seat which was pretty close to the next table. I had peking duck which was very "gamey" and dry. I could not eat more than a couple bites. Waitress never asked how food was and never came back to see if we needed anything else. Noise level was high and not able to have a conversation. My husband's meal was also forgettable. Disappointed given their high ranking.
I always know I can rely on getting a delicious meal at Marseille. The appetizers, salads and entrees are diverse, made with the freshest ingredients and scrumptious. My hanger steak was cooked to perfection. The ambiance is lovely. Never too loud, like many midtown, theatre district restaurants can be.
Marseilles provided the perfect scene for a late dinner friendly catch up. Our server Nic was attentive, quick witted, knowledgeable and articulate about the menu and wine list. The food was good and our group was delighted to find out about the reverse happy hour. The crab cake, steak frites and crème brûlée were the standouts of the meal. In addition to the great location and wonderful ambiance, Marseille is the perfect spot to discuss the genius of Ben Platt or cast your own Tony award predictions over after-theatre dinner and drinks.
I have been to Marseille several times and have never failed to enjoy the food and the
ambience. The menu is adjusted to coincide with the season. On my most recent visit
the wait staff seemed to be slightly overwhelmed by a restaurant full of diners and service
was a little slow. Our waiter apologized and brought us a tray full of cookies "on the house."
I definitely recommend this restaurant and will return there myself.
Marseille has a very friendly staff that is accommodating and attentive. The Prix-Fixe menu is a good value with a diverse mix of menu items. There are seasonal dishes along with well established menu items that give an opportunity to continue to return to enjoy this restaurant time and time again. This is the cuisine of Marseille, France. The ambiance is traditional French bistro look with fresh flowers, and a lovely bar visible from the single large dining room separated by a divider. The lighting is warm and romantic throughout the whole restaurant. (The lights get dimmed at dinner.) Great desserts end a delicious meal with classic French Style.
