We thoroughly enjoyed our pre theater brunch at Marseilles. The food was good. The service was excellent. We ordered the bottomless mimosas which were wonderful! We will return.
Absolutely perfect dining experience
Always very good French bistro choice. One of the best restaurants in the theatre district.
Have been going to Marseille for over 10 years. It is consistently fantastic. Ambiance, food and service is exceptional.
A fantastic experience at Marseille. My wife and I had theater tickets immediately following our reservation, so we told our server we only had about an hour to dine. He was extremely accommodating and served us graciously and efficiently. The goat cheese tart was out of this world, and we were both extremely happy with our entree selections (hanger steak and steak frites, respectively). I would highly recommend Marseille for a romantic evening out, even if you're a bit tight on time. I only wish we could have stayed to sample the dessert menu!
perfect for pre-theater. Good food, reasonably priced. Unrushed efficient service.
Outstanding service. We had a reservation for 4 then it grew to 5 and then 6. The staff was fast to accomodate us and very attentive to our table. The breakfast food was pretty good. THe ambience was very nice and felt like a little french cafe. We had a nice business meeting and were able to hear each other across the table. It is one of the few places that take reservations for Breakfast that is somewhat close to the Javits center.
The food was absolutely delicious and the waiter was extremely accommodating and even gave us a free dessert. It is a beautiful restaurant with a real Parisian vibe. Would come here again!
Sunday evening with my wife and cousin.
Great service and good food.
Nice menu with entrees from pastas to steak and duck. Their special house cocktails were not great...but good wine list. We all ordered something different and all enjoyed our selection. Nice goat cheese tart, and the steak au poivre was really good....as well as good service.
Always great food and service. Always consistent. Great wine list.
Excellent post-theater dinner on a cold Sunday evening. The food and wine were delicious, price was right, and service was attentive.
Lovely warm surprise for brunch on a cold Sunday morning.
Marseille is my go to restaurant in NYC. It never disappoints and when I bring new people to Marseille they are converts.
First time. It was without a doubt one of the best dining experiences I have had in the
theatre district. Can not wait to return. My whole party felt the same way.
I think, sadly, my son and I (on dinner break from a one-day Harry Potter-thon) made the wrong menu choices; had we chosen differently, our food experience might have been better. We both enjoy escargots, but fennel (not a personal favorite) had been added to the garnish. We still ate them!--but not an all-timer for me. We both ordered the duck breast (we like duck but don't make it ourselves). My son ate his two substantial slices, plus one of mine; I ate only half of the other. The treatment was, as best I can put it, mushy. I guess I should stick to duck confit! I shared my views, pleasantly, with our server (best part of our experience) --"Sorry, but I just don't like Duck that way." He offered a free dessert -- a chocolate and raspberry coulis experience that was delightful. Other diners (and there were many) seemed satisfied, but for us, the experience didn't add up to enough to merit a second visit. But thanks, server !
I've been to Marseille's twice. I really love the Seafood burger and the bottomless mimosa special for $19 at brunch on weekends. Service could be better, it was a little slow and they were not too busy. But, I would definitely go back. We had a lot of fun!!
Always a delight- whether it’s pre or post theater, dinner and/or drinks with friends, it’s terrific. Wonderful food, great atmosphere. They even have banquets! Go!
Burger was greasy and way salty. (and I love salt) Fries were crispy for about 1 minute and then got soft immediately. Returned Croque Madame for too much salt and weird taste. Fried calamari were fine.
Couldn't hear ourselves speak due to noise level.
Cozy French restaurant near the Theater District. Good service and food.
Excellent service and perfect for after theatre or any time!
The food was very good as usual. We went for lunch before the theater
On 2 recent visits, our server (same person each time) was overly occupied talking with his coworkers or spending time at a customer's table telling about himself while we sat and waited very long for our order to be taken and our drinks to be served. This spoiled what was otherwise a great meal and very nice atmosphere.
Love going to Marseilles! One of our favorite places. Feels exactly like a visit to France!
Good food. The portion of the mussel dish was very satisfying. Delicious too. I always go to Nizza next door and decided to try Marseille. I was pleasantly surprised!
Marseilles offers consistently good food and service, and the ambiance reminders you of bring in a Parisian bistro.
Food was outstanding, as it’s been in the past. Menu was innovative, and food tastes were fresh and unique.
Would definitely come back!
Great place for brunch. Avocado toast is the best and the waffles too.
Good place to go pre-heated. The food is good and not too expensive. Service was very good and they are definitely aware that people are going to the theater.
Marseille was wonderful, as always.
I had two out-of-town guests with me for dinner recently and they both loved it.
I've been to the restaurant many times and it's always reliable - it's my favorite choice
for pre/post-theatre/movie dining in mid-town. Food, service, ambiance are all excellent.
We went before a show. Very festive decorations for Christmas, great service, really nice food and lots of fun.
Service was very attentive. The food was delicious.
Great food. Excellent service. Nice ambiance. Marseille is a gem.
We stop here each time we go to NYC, and it’s always perfect!
I went here for the first time on Christmas then I want to thank the staff and restaurants for opening up for such a special occasion. The prefix Christmas dinner Was beautifully written and as a chef I was impressed with the choices. I have heard from other people in the industry that this is your favorite place to go to before A show. The manager who open the bottle of wine was very professional. We had a beautiful Chardonnay from South Africa. The boullibase Monkfish What’s the licious as well the tuna tartare. I had the Rib steak Which indeed was prime quality. The mushroom risotto is fantastic here. Creamy and precisely on the money. Just heard some wonderful especially in the eggnog Brulé. He was so impressed that we went back on New Year’s Day me before the show and had another great experience. What I’m bringing home here is that the reason I went back was that everything was perfect. No I don’t work for the restaurants or I don’t know anybody. I am just uploading the fact that here is a restaurant that has been in business for a long time and that they know how to bring it home from start to finish. There is no aggravation or disappointment like Usual problems you have at restaurants. As somebody in the business I’m not asking for much and I am humble but so happy when I can really enjoy going somewhere else and I have great food and service. This is the place to go to if you want to good New York City experience with a touch of Europe. I will be back
Except for our waiter over charging us on our bill. The food was excellent.
My party of 4 (reserved a couple of weeks in advance) was seated in the area near the bar. This area has different chairs (all wood backs), different water glasses, etc. it is also where the waitstaff congregates. The dining area has a more upscale look and feel. I mention this because we wanted this to be our special New Years Eve experience and the seating near the bar just isn’t the same. After sitting in this area for a while and seeing numerous other patrons being seated in the restaurant proper ( and NO ONE else being seated near the bar) I inquired why we weren’t seated where everyone else was seated.
We were moved to a much nicer table near the window........
When our food arrived the steak was almost blood raw in the middle (not the medium we asked for). While the steaks were removed from our bill, the rate deducted was debatably incorrect ( due to a pre fixe menu price, etc). After asking to be moved, then pointing out the poor steak preparation, it was too much to then have to debate the discount.
In the end it was just terribly disappointing. There are too many other restaurants in New York to try rather than risk another attempt at Marseille.
Took a group of 8, everyone was very pleased with the food and service and they made sure we were finished in time to make our theater show. Menu had something for all, good options for our 3 vegetarians
Always a great meal, with attentive service and wonderful food.
