Marseille offers the tastes of France right in the middle of New York's Theater District. A perfect place for your group to gather before or after your time at the theater.
View Private Dining DetailsAlways consistently good food. Waiter was extremely attentive and friendly. And a great choice if you have to go to the theater-- food comes out quickly.
Overall, it was a subpar dining experience. The service was decent and the staff was friendly. However the food was underwhelming. My son had the Hanger Steak and did not care for it. It was very chewy. My other son had the duck and it was prepared beautifully. However, the sides that accompanied it were bizarre. Sauerkraut? I started with the duck Pate and it was mediocre. Not horrible, but not great. I wanted the lamb chops until I heard they were deep fried. That did not appeal to me. I settled for the chicken, which was dry.
On a positive note, the bread, escargot, and apple tart were outstanding. Place definitely has potential, but disappointed in the entrees.
Tasty, well prepared French cuisine. Great, attentive service for a group of 10. We were very happy and highly recommend the food, ambience. It gets a bit noisy, however. We shall return!
We had dinner after theater tonight.
The service was outstanding.
I had an excellent Bellini to start.
The escargot was delicious! Very garlicky and buttery-perfect for dipping the crusty baguette that we were given.
We had a number of items on the menu, sharing a number of things. Portions were adequate. All were delicious! The bistro atmosphere was inviting and comfortable, reminiscent of being in Paris.
We always enjoy brunch at this great location before the theatre! Great service and selection.
Excellent food and service.
Close to the theater and good food
Food was delicious. Our waiter Johnny M was most welcoming, attentive, congenial and anticipated all and every need and desire. We’ll return early and often!
Just always very good experience.
Noise level.a bit high,though
Excellent hamburger and steak frites. Wines delicious. Great service. Kale salad a little underwhelming, compared to the excellence of other dishes. Cookies at end were a lovely surprise.
Cute French brasserie - above average food, friendly wait staff and very easy for theatre goers. Roast chicken was excellent
This is our go-to pre- theatre restaurant. Food is always solid, love the decor and the location is very convenient. I recommend making a reservation as it is a popular pre- theatre restaurant.
Food and service were very good. The Salmon was excellent! Good place for pre theater dinner.
Pretheater dinner within an easy walk to Broadway theater...we had been here previously about 1 year ago. We remembered the French onion soup which was just as delicious as last time. Also ordered shrimp beignets which were similar to shrimp tempura and also good. The hanger steak steak was prepared well and very tender as well as the spinach. The lamb chops were prepared in an unusual way...breaded...friends would not order again. Their sides were good green beans and scalloped potatoes. It’s a pleasant restaurant for before or after the theater.
The food was edible, but nothing special. The food presentation was good. The temperature of the food was adequate. The service was exceptional. The serving staff was always attentive even with a crowded restaurant. They have a fairly large wine list available. My biggest complaint was the dishes. I initially ordered lamb chops, but changed my order when the server indicated that they would be deep fried. Why would you deep fry a lamb chop? I instead ordered the duck breast. This was served over a bed of potato and sauerkraut. Odd combination which I did not particularly like. I also found the restaurant to be a bit noisy. This is a small restaurant so I would recommend a reservation if you decide to visit. I would not recommend this for children.
We love Marseille for pre-theater meals. The food is great, good choices so everyone is happy, and the service is always friendly and professional. They strike just the right balance when they
know you are heading to theater, not rushed. but aware of curtain time.
This remains the very best place in the theatre district to eat. It never disappoints.
My friends and I enjoy having brunch at Marseille before the theatre. The restaurant is conveniently located. They have an extensive brunch menu. Our server was excellent. She checked to make sure we had what we needed but did not hover. We had a very enjoyable, leisurely brunch.
Really like the vibe at this place.
The food was good, good steaks. Very good dessert. Waiter was very good and attentive without overdoing it.
excellent food and service. The waiter was exceptional. will definitely return.
we came here for brunch before our matinee show at the Shubert which was right up the block. the ambience here is very French bistro and nice vibe. open and spacious and service was friendly and quick. food was delicious as well as the cocktail, though that might have been made to look prettier. otherwise it was fantastic.
Was really good food. Both servers were amazing and helpful. Very nice and chill atmosphere with fun people.
Reliable and tasty as always. Great Thursday night wine bargain specials.
We both thoroughly enjoyed the trout as our entrees. It was perfectly prepared and the spinach and capers blended very well. Also enjoyed the mushroom tart as a starter. We also enjoyed a pre-dinner drink at the bar. They have a lovely bar where you can also eat if you wish.
Fabulous pre theater eatery with great menu choices and wonderful service!!
The service was quick and attentive. Our server asked if we were going to see a 7pm show and made sure we had a well paced meal that left us enough time to get to the theater on time. Our server was very warm and engaging.
Had an early reservation for a pre-theatre dinner. Excellent pace of meal. We enjoyed the escargot and calamari appetizers. The calamari was lightly fried and delicious. As entrees we had the chicken, which was excellent and full of flavor, and the steak and fries. Dessert was ice cream and coffee. Attentive service.
Marseille, is one of my go to places. Its consistently outstanding. I love the prix-fix dinner menu
Consistently good food and service
I have been to Marseille many times, and it has always been very good to excellent, and was excellent last visit. The decor and ambience are just wonderful, I really feel like I'm away in Europe while there. It is one of my favorite places in terms of ambiance. The service is great, friendly and professional without being your friend. The food is wonderful, though I wish that they would bring back some dishes (a moroccan lamb sausage tergine was my favorite but is no longer offered). The management of the Tour de France restaurant group does seem to have cut back on the number of offerings and there is some 'sameness' emerging across the restaurants, which is unfortunate. The sound can be a bit loud during prime time, and the view from the restaurant to the street is not good (Port Authority area); here, try to get an inner table. It is a bit pricey but not unreasonable.
The food was delicious, the service was prompt and kind, and the venue was lovely. Thanks all around for a great experience!
Always lovely to dine at Marseille. They had a delicious roast chicken on the menu & a delightful frisée salad with pears & blue cheese. Always a GREAT wine list & an attentive sammelier to advise if needed. Service was excellent. To start... I had the best Cosmopolitan cocktail I’ve ever had... and that is rare.
The food was good but could better. The service was excellent. We will back!
Dependable .
Was a wonderful night!
My goat cheese tart went beyond the expected sharp or tart ti bitter. But the salmon was very good and my companion enjoyed her roast chicken. The creme brulee was subpar but the chocolate cake was good. The main problem is that the menu is very limited and does not even carry all the dishes shown on their on line menu. This was especially disappointing when I dined there on Good Friday wanting to eat fish. Basd on their on line menu their was to be a choice of salmon, branzini or dorade. But there was only salmon. Also they advertise pistou, but that too was not on the menu.
Service is lacking. My companion dropped her fork and needed to clean some food off her dress using the napkin. No one came to pick up the fork or to supply a new one (and new napkin) until asked.
I get the impression that this old standard is in need of resuscitation.
We were all meeting in the city to welcome our son home for spring break and some of us were visiting the theatre that evening. As always, the food was excellent as was the service. As we did not all arrive together, it made it more difficult but the restaurant was up for the challenge. We are never surprised by this place.
Delicious!
I've been to Marseille a number of times for brunch and decided to head back for dinner this past week with my cousin who was in from out-of-town. First, I want to give major props to Fiona who was so kind in scouting out a quiet table I had requested in the corner. The drinks are delicious - I ordered the jalapeno margarita which is reason enough to stop into Marseille. My cousin had another drink but then switched over to the margarita. We ordered the mushroom tarte, tuna tartare and octopus - all delicious. No dessert but they brought us over complimentary cookies. Our waitress was fantastic - wish I had gotten her name so that I could give her the proper recognition she deserves.
I'll definitely be back - this restaurant delivers on all levels! Highly recommend!
