We've been here many times over many yrs and they never disappoint. Marseille's is a great pre theater place for both lunch or dinner.

I've been to this restaurant many times but unfortunately our lunch was very disappointing. We asked for salmon to be cooked through and sent it back twice. Someone else at our table ordered grilled shrimp with her salad and it came out well done and cold. The waiter took one salad off the bill so that was redeemable. While having lunch I received an email stating my reservation was canceled. I spoke with the hostess and she said she would get back to me but never did. I emailed opentable and was told the restaurant canceled my reservation and did not rectify the situation. Service and food has gone downhill at this old standby. I will think twice before going there again.

The food, ambience and service were excellent. We ordered salads for our lunch but they were a little bit on the small side for the price. That being said, everything was fresh and tasty. Can’t vouch for the main courses but I would go back to this restaurant.

This is a great little french restaurant in the theatre district. Feels very much like a Paris Bistro, so that is fun. and the food and service are good. also, the noise level is not bad -- enough to feel energetic but not so much that you can't hear the people you are dining with.

Marseille has been one of my favorites when I meet family to see a play. This time around the food and drinks just did not match other visits. A few of the dishes were not explained well, so the specials we ordered were not exactly what we were expecting and a classic Manhattan was not a well made cocktail like it ha been in the past. Hoping this is just a fluke, and I’ll try again.

While the service was good, we ordered the duck liver pate and the cheeseburger. Both were below average. The Mediterranean salad was good but not great.

Dessert was nothing unique or special.

The food is just okay in my opinion. The calamari is soggy to because of the sauce and my drink is very tart. The complimentary bread is old and very hot. Obviously left in the warmer too long. They don't look at special request when I reserved so obviously didn't know my seating preference. My main course is Bistro Steak which I found too salty and the greens were garlicky. There was a change in server in between our meal and I didn't find any of them accommodating or welcoming. Will not recommend, will not come back.

My husband and I have been here at least a dozen times and it never disappoints! The food is delicious and the service is outstanding! The prices are so reasonable for the quality—which is one of the reasons we try to return every time we are in the city! It is a wonderful experience!

First time at this restaurant. Very casual atmosphere which was nice on a very hot day. Nice selection of wines by the glass. While my wife’s Bronzino was well prepared and very good, the Duck Breast was absolutely sensational. All of this was at a very reasonable price point. However, the icing on the cake was the service. Our server was mot only efficient and knowledgeable, she was one of the most friendly people I have ever met. We look forward to returning.

I have been coming to Marseille for 20 years, and it never disappoints. The duck entree was delicious albeit a bit chewy and the asparagus vinaigrette was perfect. One in our party thoroughly enjoyed the modules marinerre with the fantastic bread.

We went for Sunday brunch, pre-theater. Everyone ordered something different and everyone was wowed by how good the food was. The service was excellent and very friendly. The maître d' is always around to make sure everything runs smoothly. I always look forward to my next return visit.

Planning brunch before a show on Sunday means planning brunch. We love brunch at Marseilles. The atmosphere is very nyc, the food is delicious and the service is excellent. This past Sunday the Lorraine omelette was fluffy and beautifully seasoned, the croissant was light and tasty. The Bloody Mary was just the thing and the coffee flowed. We never felt rushed and were actually encouraged by our very solicitous waiter to take our time. An excellent choice as always. We look forward to our next meal there.

I’m vegan and allergic to dairy and egg. We choose this restaurant for brunch because when i went there for mother’s day with my parents they had a lovely avocado toast dish that was already vegan with lots greens, tomato and pickled mushrooms. When i arrived they had changed their dish to contain a fried egg. I ordered it without the egg and i got a small dry piece of bread with some avocado and massive hunks of tomato. everything was unseasoned. I reached out to the restaurant and have not heard back.

My third time at Marseille but the first for my companions. Both food and service were excellent. We started with hummus and pita and an appetizer special of tuna. Both were very good. For dinner we had trout and salmon. The portions were large and the fish was done beautifully. The sauce for the trout was very good. The wine that our waitress recommended was excellent. Service was appropriately attentive and very friendly. We would definitely go back!

We have been going to Marseille for many years (pre theatre dinner) and has always been great. This time, June 26, 2018, it was awful. The menu was different. It didn't have some of our favorites. The service was terrible. We then learned the chef was changed and there was new ownership. We had tuna tartare, which was mostly avocado. The duck mousse was all water. The breast of lamb was really tough.
The Tuna niscoise was unedible.

Too bad, this was one of our favorite restaurants in the theatre district

This restaurant is consistently a delight. The wait staff is very pleasant. The menu is varied and consistently good. One of my favorite go to restaurants in the theatre district. The specialty drinks were beautifully served. In my reservation, I noted that we were celebrating a birthday and they brought us a lovely cookie platter with a lit candle. What a nice touch!

I love going here because they have the best mediterranean salad in NYC! I always add grilled shrimp. Also love the Lillet Spritz! Service is always terrific and fast. Great any time if day.

As always, both food & service was good. This is one of my fav places to eat whenever I'm in NYC & we've been coming here for quite a few years. Love the decor, ambience & the service. And yes, as commented by another reviewer, the espresso martini is DA BEST! If you're too full for desserts, this is an excellent liquid alternative.

We enjoyed our meal. Food was very good. Service was attentive but busy. My only issue with the restaurant was the noise level. Louder than needed background Music, dishes and silver clanking, and of course people talking. When the lights were lowered later in evening, ambience improved.

Enjoyed the pre-theater experience. Place was crowded, noisy, and busy, but we were seated immediately as per our reservation, and Francine, our server, took very good care of us the rest of the way. Food was delicious, service excellent, and the whole experience very positive.

Having not dined at Marseille for some time, we were disappointed with the get you out of there as fast as possible atmosphere. The prix fixe dinner was good but we felt rushed; we had to request both seafood forks and steak knives, they didn't serve us drinks ordered until appetizers were finished, the wait staff kept trying to clear our dishes when we were not yet finished. We will not return because of the rushed service, not the food which was good.

We love Marseille! It’s a large, light-filled, attractive space, with friendly efficient staff serving excellent food. We went there for brunch and came back a week later for brunch again. The tuna Nicoise was excellent and the Mediterranean salad were terrific, perfectly cooked tuna and salmon on top. The omelet was perfect - mine was organic eggs with carmelized onions, gruyere cheese and bacon. It came with a variety of warm breads We’ll be back!

This was not my first time at marseille, but was probably the best experience, even though things have always been great. Our waiter , Jason, was friendly , professional, warm, and very accommodating . He listened to our special requests, and easily took care of them. When I ordered my meal to be prepared a certain way, he spoke to the manager to make sure they could do it. The manager came over to talk to me to make sure he would be able to prepare what I ordered the way I asked for it to be prepared. He too, was friendly and professional, and eager to help. Everyone who helped us was fantastic. The food was superb, and everyone’s order was perfect. Thank you for the great lunch experience!
