We went for dinner before a B'way show. Service was attentive, cocktails were well-prepared, the wine list is extensive. Food was very good, from apps to desert. Got us out in plenty of time for the show. We have eaten here several times and have always been pleased with the experience.

Waiter was not very informed about the menu nor did he bother to check about the questions we asked and rather just gave his assumptions. For example, we asked if the onion soup was made from beef broth and he replied that there was no beef in the soup. We were skeptical and asked the manager who went to check. By the time she came back our order had already arrived. We found out the soup was made with beef broth. Since I don’t eat beef, I find this error unacceptable. What if an allergy was involved? Except for the escargots, the food was average.

Decent pre-theatre restaurant but not up to its standard of past years.

This is a reliable pre and post theater venue, to which I go regularly. The service and food are of high quality. The atmosphere is congenial.

The food was terrible compared to how it usually is. They clearly messed up for Valentine's Day. The place was pretty full, but they somehow did not appear to be prepared for it.

Valentine’s Day. Seated and waited and waited. This was early not crowded. Found someone to find our waiter. Ordered cocktail, brought wrong cocktail. Got another. Ordered meal , chicken and a fillet. Chicken was just ok. The steak , well the first clue was I could not cut it with my steak knife. I wish I was joking. My spouse thought I must be using the wrong side of the knife , unfortunately I was not. After a few minutes Of cutting I got one piece of steak in my mouth and chewed until I realized it was not going to happen and had to stop after one bite. Waiter got manager who was a really good guy which is why we gave the second star at all. How any “chef” could let that go out from his kitchen is beyond me. We are not “ Send food back” types especially celebrating together. Ruined our meal experience. Manager took my drink off the bill but we did not even want that, we just wanted to get out of there. At least the Broadway play after was amazing.

My spouse and I enjoyed a pre-theater lunch on Valentines Day. The food was excellent, especially the Winter salad and trout and profiteroles for dessert. Service was very good. We were warmly greeted by the hostess and then treated very well by our server(Kyle). Overall, it was a very nice experience and we will be back.

This was my first visit to this restaurant. The food was excellent. It is a charming French place in the Theater district. I ordered from the prix fixed menu and enjoyed it all. The mushroom tart and crispy salmon were both delicious. I will return!

Ordered steak. wasn't the freshest meat. First bad experience. But they removed the price of the entree of the bill! Would still recommend and plan to dine there again.

We had an early reservation - 5:30pm - on a Saturday. We arrived on time and the restaurant was sparsely occupied. Given the number of empty tables we were disappointed at being seated in the bar area, mainly because the seats in the dining room are padded and the seats in the bar are plain wooden chairs. Our server, however, was attentive so we decided to roll with it.

We ordered drinks which were quickly served, but I was somewhat disappointed with the selection of wine by the glass. I chose a Napa Cab which I was satisfied with, but given the extent of the wine list would have appreciated more selection.

After reading the reviews online I chose the bouillabaisse which was very good with lots of big, juicy parts pieces of seafood. Unfortunately I found it to be overly salted. My wife had the shrimp beignets which were basically shrimp tempura, not at all what either of us expected. She was happy with the dish, but they certainly weren’t “beignets”. My dinner entree was the steak frites, ordered rare. The meat was very tender, but again too salty. The fries were light and crispy. My wife had the lamb chops which were HUGE! Our server explained when she ordered them that the chops were breaded and deep fried. They were delicious! The breading seemed to be strong with Parmesan cheese which really added to the dish. If I had a complaint it would be that they were over cooked, but all in all the portions were generous and I felt this was the strongest dish of the night.

The waiter was very attentive, and when I gave him my credit card he waited until my wife left the table before coming to tell me it had been declined (my fault for not filing a travel alert with my credit card company before going to NYC). At first I couldn’t figure out why there was such a delay in him coming back with the slip, but if this had been a “real” date I sure would have appreciated his discretion.

When we left there were only two empty tables in the whole restaurant.

Had wonderful dinner here after a matinee. They were very welcoming and allowed us to wait at a table with drinks before they started serving food, which was wonderful. Drinks were very good and the wine selection was excellent. Food was well prepared and there were some unique offerings on the menu. Enjoyed our meals and our time spent here.

As always, Marseille is a gift. From the food to the service to the ambiance, Marseille is the best place in the theater district, hands down.

I love this restaurant! I have never had a bad meal and this visit was my first brunch and it most certainly will not be my last! I firmly believe that the entire experience is worth the price I paid.

Food: 4/10
Service: 10/10

Appetizer:
Burgundy Snails - probably the best part of the meal. They were perfectly cooked with butter, garlic, and a delicious breading. But the portion was much too small.

Main:
Herb Crusted Lamb - This is not herb-crusted; it's fried. Honestly, it was not good at all. The breading was so thick, lacked seasoning, and it just did not compliment the lamb well at all. If anything, it overpowered the lamb. My friend called it "sad fried chicken."
I had never had fried lamb and let me just say: I never want to have it again.

Dessert:
Crème brûlée - It was lack luster. The custard was too runny. The fruits were out-of-season, so they tasted like a watered down/bitter mess.

Ultimately, I was just not a fan of the food. French cuisine is definitely botched at Marseille. Though the service, ambiance, and plating presentation were excellent, I would not recommend the establishment to a friend.

Shout out to the entire FOH staff: waiters, owner and whatnot; all of them were so friendly and attentive. The food itself for Restaurant Week was just okay, great location for pre/post theater though! Again, exemplary service here.

This was a Restaurant Week lunch. Starters of a mushroom tart and onion soup were very good. The entree of Tagine chicken was excellent. Our desserts of apple tart and lemon tart were also very good. The only hiccup was a hair in the lemon tart. They brought another one and comped our wine. We would definitely go back to this restaurant.

A friend and I visited Marseille for restaurant week. The food was exactly what I had been craving; the escargot was delicious, the sauces were fantastic and that liquor infused caramel ice cream was very satisfying. Would definitely go back.

My wife and I took my daughter to Marseille for her birthday. It also was a restaurant participating in New York restaurant week. We had checked the menu online and it looked good. We were very happy to find the food to be excellent. The service was as well. My wife enjoyed it so much she returned with her sister for dinner a few days later. Good choice for French food near the Broadway theatres.

My friends and I had a wonderful dinner enjoying the $42 menu of Restaurant Week. The escargots were the best I've ever had outside of Paris. The lamb chops were delicious and inventively prepared. Of a wide choice of desserts, the Meyer lemon tart was perfect. Next time I am in NYC for theatre, I will dine there again. A lovely reminder of France in the theatre district!

Enjoyed the Restaurant Week specials, although all items were available on the regular luncheon menu. We started with traditional onion soup au gratin and a mushroom tart. For our entrees we both enjoyed the trout which was nicely prepared over spinach. For dessert we shared the almond financiere (cake) and lemon tart. Everything was perfectly prepared and they have a nice wine list by the glass. This is a definite favorite in the theater district for both lunch and dinner and they have a nice bar for a before dinner drink.

I have been to Marseille a few times for lunch and dinner and it is consistently excellent. The staff and waiters are so friendly and attentive, they have a great menu - something for everyone, and the choices are interesting with an authentic French feel, as is the ambiance. The burgers are fabulous and there’s an excellent wine list. Been there pre/post theatre and can’t wait to return.
