Onion soup was excellent but a little pricey. I enjoyed my monkfish and my wife liked the taste of the branzino but it was not completely deboned.
I went for lunch during Restaurant Week for the first time although I've been to Marseille many other times over the years. I've always enjoyed the food but this lunch was not good. I don't know if, as the rumour goes for places participating in Restaurant Week, they put less effort into the food. But it certainly seemed that way. The tomato soup was fine but nothing special. The trout, however, was drenched in butter and sauce. I didn't finish because the trout and green beans were just saturated.
My friend did say the risotto was good and took it home.
We had a wonderful lunch - will definitely be back.
Always the perfect pre-theater meal!
We always have the best time at Marseille. The food and the service are always fantastic.
Visited for a pre-theater dinner, so was watching the time closely. Service for the entire restaurant seemed slow and our waiter informed us there were problems with the stove. The waiter seemed to be watching out for us and our schedule. As usual (come here quite often) the food was delicious when it came. The restaurant offered complimentary dessert and after dinner drink which was appreciated, even if we couldn't linger over it. All in all, they handled their unfortunate problem very professionally.
As always we enjoyed our brunch at Marseille. The good is always wonderful. This time the server was not the best at the beginning but he did finally seem to warm to us. However we felt that we were an inconvenience to him. But the ambiance was great and we met some wonderful, fun fellow diners at tables around us. And the good was excellent.
My dinner was memorable and one of the best I've ever had. I had the special: Branzino on a fennel fume-like sauce. Branzino is one of my favorite fishes and I order it often but this was unlike any preparation I've ever had. My friend had moules frite--and continues to rave about them. I tasted the sauce. Delicious. Great dining experience in an area of the city better known for tourist twee.
Great for our group of 10. Quick, professional service, and delicious food for breakfast.
Great service. We all enjoyed.
We love the ambiance, food, waitstaff, decor. It's a wonderful place and in the theatre district for a quick walk to the shows.
Always reliable, always delicious, often available in the heart of the Theater District. To quote an old show tune, Who could ask for anything more?
Very nice food and service was prompt given how busy they were.
We were very disappointed. Had been there before with better results. Portions were very small with barely anything on the plate. I could not find a beet on my Three Beet salad. I did not return it because we had a show there get to, but this should not have happened.
First time dining here and we all so enjoyed the experience. One in our party had been here before and recommended having lunch before a theatre matinee on a Saturday. Our reservation was honored right on time and the service was excellent. We had two teenagers with us and they devoured the hamburgers and french fries. In fact all our food was delicious. We definitely would return and hope to have dinner sometime also.
First visit of many before for brunch and all was terrific. Would always prefer some of your utestesual lunch or dinner entrees at brunch but to no avail i.e. mussels, steak fritte. Some in my party of 8 would have liked more selection.
Our go to for broadway
My daughters 16th birthday trip to NYC.
Nice place to go to for lunch before a matinee.
I met a friend whom I hadn't seen in several months. The hostess seated us at a corner table, where we could talk easily. The trout and chicken were delicious -- and also the creme brulee! Very pleasant service.
Really loved the restaurant and will definitely come back! Super busy so must make reservations (duh, we're on open table). Service was excellent and the food fantastic! Highly recommend!
Loved it. Food great service was great.
We went for brunch. There were a lot of good choices and food was good. Shakshuka was a little bland
Usually great for lunch tried dinner this time. Good fish. Mussels not great. Will go back for lunch or a burger next time
Got there at 7:30 on a Friday evening. Crowded and noisy with the pre-theater crowd. It emptied out by eight o'clock. I was prepared to be underwhelmed. The butter & oil that came with the bread was fresh from the refrigerator and hard. The bread seemed old. The sale was underdressed, but was nicely served.
The entrees we ordered, duck breast for my wife, brook trout for myself were long in coming. However, when they arrived, they were perfect and delicious. Overall a very good meal.
We enjoyed the meal but everything was heavily salted, from the aioli to the burger and fries
We were five for dinner at 5 pm and had to leave by 6:40 Pm to make a nearby theater performance by 7 pm. We made it easily. Service was impeccable, courteous and very prompt. We had appetizers, dinner and coffee and not rushed at all.
The five of us had a variety of entrees as well as the excellent French Onion Soup and Octopus Salad. The entrees ordered included a lobster pasta, roast chicken. Long Island duck breast and trout almondine over French cut beans. Portions were ample to large, served hot and promptly. All entrees were in the $26 to $30 range, moderate for the heart of Manhattan’s Midtown Theater District. A must recommend restaurant!
The bread was hard and overdone. The steak au poivre barely had sauce. The vegetable couscous was dull. The staff was wonderful and the drinks were good but the detail was missing from a good French restaurant.
Great location, food, price and service. Will recommend to friends.
They lost my umbrella
Beautiful atmosphere, kind staff and delicious food!
Great restaurant! Fabulous brunch menu. Staff so friendly.
Third trip to Marseille. Server was either very overwhelmed or new but the old guard servers seem to be a bit more on top of things. Slow start by service was made better by outstanding NY strip and mussels along with great wine recommendation from sommelier. Creme brûlée was sinful. Outstanding meal. Can’t wait for the next NYC visit to return to Marseille!
We love Marseille, it’s always a great dining experience!
Great!!! Great service!!! Great food!!! Beautiful restaurant! Big thumbs up! Loved our meal & the entire experience.
Great food and service. Very nice place in a great location. Thumbs up!!
Marseille is dependable. The quality of the food is consistently very good. The service can be a bit haphazard, particularly when shifts get changed, so a wine discount did not make it onto the bill and an order of asparagus was forgotten. This is the first time that I have been in a few years and the menu seems identical. Steak tartare and bouillabaisse worth ordering. They could have a few more dishes.
Great food and service as always
Made a reservation before a broadway show—a holiday treat to myself. Was seated quickly. After about 15 min a waiter brought a menu. That waiter never came back. Flagged someone down to take my order. This new waiter didn’t share the specials of the day, didn’t offer water or bread, nothing. Just took my order and didn’t see him again. Food was brought by yet another person. No one asked if I was ok with food, needed another drink, etc. Finally, just I was finishing, they seemed to assign a waiter to my table. He was very polite when picking up my dishes, clearly trying for a tip that we was not around to earn.
On top of this, the food was mediocre at best. The French Onion soup was almost all bread, and the Halibut was overcooked and dry.
It was almost $100 for food and drink for one person. A total waste of my time and money. Moreover, the floor manager walked around and clearly made eye contact with me twice, but never approached my table to ask how things were going. Though he did at other tables where there was clearly much better service.
Will not come back to this restaurant again.
