A day trip to the city and a friend’s recommendation brought us here.
Goat cheese tart and baguette for appetizers. Duck breast and short ribs for main entrees
All were delicious. Well prepared.
Always love going to Marseille, never fails to deliver. Hostess and staff friendly and efficient, food and drinks delicious. One request- please bring back the Mediterrean salad, was disappointed to see it wasn't on the menu.
The food was great and most of the wait staff were very friendly. Our server (can’t remember their name) was awful though. It took forever to even get water. Every time she came over she said, sorry, I’m not ignoring you, I’m just so busy. She would then proceed to stay at the table behind us for up to 5 mins talking and being friendly with them. Anytime she would randomly come by, she would say, “you guys cool?” then go to the table directly behind us, loudly exclaiming, “how’s my favorite table doing?!” while spending extended time with them and ignoring other tables. I don’t mind a busy server or anything like that, but to ignore all your tables and exclaim you basically only care about the one is really awkward and uncomfortable. The only time we got drink, food, bill etc was when another server saw us alone and came over to offer their help. It just awkward.
Always a pleasure to dine at Marseille as they honor their reservation. Service is very attentive. Nice menu choices and reasonably priced.
Had a 5 pm reservation for 4 people but got there early. They kindly seated us right away and we enjoyed a very leisurely and delightful time.
A great location if you're seeing a show.
Service was excellent and our table was perfect. Food is good.
I judge a restaurant quite often on whether the waitstaff is able to keep my water glass full without me even knowing it. They do that very well at Marseille! Our food was delicious; my friend had the goat cheese tart appetizer and she said it melted in her mouth. I had the duck breast, and it was so tender; the wait staff is extremely attentive (I dropped a menu at one point on the floor and then a fork another time on the floor, and our waiter was quick to get it before I did). I love that they clear the entire table before we ordered coffee and dessert so no clutter on the table (not even S it's one of my favorite restaurants in NYC. Do go there!
The staff at Marseille were friendly, attentive and accommodating. The tiled floors and layout inside are beautiful. The food was great, and we stayed a long time at our table, enjoying a great meal and conversation. At not point did we feel rushed to leave.
The staff at Marseille graciously allowed us to be seated 30 minutes early so we could come in from the cold and await the arrival of our brunch guests. The peppermint tea that we sipped while waiting was soothing on a cold winter day. Service was friendly but somewhat forgetful (it took three tries to get cream for coffee). Three of us had avocado toast and it was quite good, while the fourth had eggs benedict and pronounced them excellent. The room is open, nicely lit and quite comfortable. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming... There were lots of families with kids enjoying a Christmas treat. We would happily return.
Our go to place for everything! We love it here. Ambience Service Location. All 5+ Stars!
WE LOVE THIS PLACE! We went for brunch 2 weeks ago and liked it so much we went back with friends. Great food, outstanding service, chill Parisian ambiance, and surprising value for NYC. The entire staff, from manager to wait staff and hostesses, are all warm and friendly. If you haven't been, go!
It took an hour for us to get our food. That was after we had been seated without menus or water for 30 minutes. The service was very lacking in attention. The food was ok, though we had to rush to eat to make it to our show in time. Overall a disappointing experience.
Love the food! The oysters and escargot were fresh and delicious. But the service was rough and ready. We had a table that was wobbly and when we informed the team, they were surprised and while they attended the situation with shims, they almost knocked over all our drinks. We had Steak and frites, croque madame and eggs benedict. The main courses were scrumptious and we cleaned out our plates. We ordered a Meyer lemon tart with very high hopes coming from the main course, but we were disappointed. The lemon curd wasn’t set and the addition of the blueberry compete made it a soppy mess and ruined the entire dish.
Very nice server but way over booked with tables. Even the bus boy couldn’t bring me more coffee. Otherwise, love the place and the food.
Food was very good. Wine list extensive but very few less pricey choices available. Rather noisy and difficult to hear fellow diners.
Unrushed with excellent service without being intrusive.
Get the octopus and babaganush
This is our Go To spot in NYC! We always bring new guests every time and they are always so impressed with the quality of the food. Perfect for pre theater or a romantic date night.
Our server, Jessica, appeared to be very busy and was not attentive to re-filling drinks, etc. I order the burger and fries and the cost was $22 which I thought was very high. A little disappointed in the menu selection for a French restaurant
This was the perfect place to grab dinner before a show. Great food, no long waits, and kind staff.
Great pre-theater spot. The service was outstanding, good food and it felt like we were in Paris
The perfect choice for brunch! Service was excellent. The servers must be the friendliest in NYC. And food was excellent. Love this place!
The escargot was tender and was not overpowered by the butter and garlic. There was a good balance between the garlic herb butter and escargot. I just wish there was more bread to dip in the butter.
The Honey Glazed Duck was cooked to a perfect medium rare, it was also extremely tender, and the sides compliment the dish really well and was full of flavor. There was no need to use the salt and pepper on the table.
The creme brûlée was to die for. The creamy custard had a rich vanilla flavor and they didn't go overboard with the caramelize sugar. The extremely thin layer of caramelize sugar was just enough to give it the infamous crunch you expect but not overpowering that it upstage the custard.
The only downside of the entire meal was the soup. The onion soup came out first and looked amazing. The cheese was melted perfectly and arrived bubbling hot. The only issue was it was so bland and flavorless that I thought I lost my taste and need to go get tested to make sure I don't have COVID. It tasted like the soup sat in a warmer all day and all the condensation watered down the soup. The crostini was overly soggy and also tasted like it was soaked in water. My eyes were seeing onion soup, I smell the onion, but tasted nothing. My glass of water had more flavor. I had to lick the lemon I had at the table to make sure it wasn't my taste buds.
Overall it was a pretty amazing meal, the duck and creme brûlée definitely took center stage.
The food and service were excellent. We've liked this place for many years. It never disappoints!
Waitress was either brain dead or drunk.
Manager asked us to leave -AS we were paying the bill!
Food was good- as usual. Hard to screw up French bistro food.
Food is exceptional - I've been coming here for pre-theater dinner for decades; the bouillabaisse is my favorite. It disappeared from the menu for a while, but I am delighted that it's back. Food is always delicious, and they always get you out on time for your show.
Had a lovely French meal just before seeing Moulin Rouge. Octopus and steak tartar to start and then we both had the duck. It was all delicious. And the service was very friendly, and they made sure we were out on time
Post Broadway dinner. Starters were good but the mains were just okay, my bowl of pasta was small enough to be an appetizer.
Love this place! Always good food and a warm atmospheere
Spacious.. room between tables. Nice food
Have been going to Marseille for a while now, even during the pandemic and seating outdoors in the winter. However just a little disappointed this time with the latest menu, price and portion size. I get that it's probably due to post Covid business conditions, but I hope it doesn't stay that way.
It was my first time to the Marseilles and it will not be my last. I had the Escargots and the Petite Bouillabaisse and they were prepared perfectly. Wife had the Branzino and my friend had the Moules and they too very much enjoyed their meals. The portion sizes I thought were quite good. We very much enjoyed our desserts too; three scoops of Ice Cream and the Brulee. Service VERY attentive and I believe our service person had a rather pleasant French accent. Noise level was not a problem. I thought the atmosphere was well done. If you are looking for a restaurant with a French flair, I would recommend the Marseilles.
Excellent, as always
Repeat visit to a pre theatre favorite. Great waitstaff, fresh food, clean bathrooms and lovely vibe.
Had a wonderful lunch and a glass of wine. Service was great. My order was perfect and pretty fast service,
I have been to Marseille many times and was surprised by the decline in the quality of the food . They were short on staff which is often true these days. I felt the staff made an effort. The portions were small. I thought the quality of ingredients had fallen. The request was for a rare hamburger and it was well done and everything was cold.
Wonderful restaurant, but they forgot to ask for our proof of vaccination.
Marseille is the perfect choice for that pre-show gathering. The food is solid and the service is excellent!
Marseille is our go-to place for weekend brunch. Menu choices are excellent. The restaurant is decorated tastefully and the staff is thorough, knowledgeable and engaging. We took friends there for the first time this weekend and they left saying it wouldn't be the last time they were back.
Excelente servicio y la comida exquisita, muy recomendable
Food as always was delicious and the service is great…highly recommend!
