Everything was great
We enjoyed dinner for 6 before the theater last night. The staff was attentive and made sure to get us out to our show on time. Everybody loved their entrees from the bouillabaisse to the salmon, hangar steak and hamburger. The appetizers were good too, we shared the humus platter and the calamari, no complaints, and no leftovers.
We dine here often before seeing a show because everything is delicious, the staff is courteous and the French bistro ambiance is a welcome escape from the bustle outside.
Excellent service and food. Ideal for a pre-theatre meal.
The food was wonderful
Best mussels and fries ever!
The apple tart was perfect
Service was attentive and seamless
Despite the pre-theater “rush”, it was an unusually relaxing and luxurious atmosphere
Diners seemed to arrive at staggered times to assure the time and attention to food preparation as well as the service to provide s perfect experience
Than you Marsielle
Great spot to meet up with family but a bit noisy. So if you need a quiet place to talk, try for a booth. We had great service and the food was tasty!
The restaurant was very NOISY. Too noisy to hear the person next to you. Go somewhere else.
The portions shrunk, the prices soared and the wine by the glass choices are horrible
Thoroughly enjoyed a pre-theater dinner at Marseille. The trout is a favorite of ours and we enjoyed it. The berries with chantilly cream for dessert was refreshing and light after the meal. Nice wine list and excellent service.
Overwhelmingly surprised at how good my experience here was. Impeccable service that accommodated us above and beyond what was needed, great food. A total sleeper -- especially as a skeptical NYer who wasn't sure since the restaurant is so close to the theater district. This place could be in SoHo, Nomad, wherever, and still deliver.
The cocktail was good and the entree and the dessert were exceptional.
we were ignored by our second waiter, i was given a diner and order the NY prime and I got flanker steak, it used to be much better
This is a very good local restaurant which strives for French authenticity. It's cozy and quaint and good with tourists and locals alike.
It is a pleasant French bistro that is conveniently located near the Theater District. We went for lunch as we were going to a matinee. The atmosphere reminded me of A traditional Paris bistro. Food was good not great. Service was good not great.
And a place I would return tonhhjj
We were very impressed with how our waiter handled a particularly difficult patron at the table adjacent to ours. He had the patience of a saint and the tact of a diplomat.
IT'S ONE OF MY FAVORITE EATING SPOTS. SERVICE IS ALWAYS OUTSTANDING AS WELL AS THE FOOD.
We came in for a post theater meal. I always love that Marseille retains its warm cosy vibe all year round and consistently serves some straight up french comfort food. The fries are so delicious I had to break my pre-holiday diet!
The service was excellent and the meal was vet good.
A pre-theatre meal with my nieces! Service was great, allowing us to have a relaxing meal despite some time constraints.
We were in the City for the holidays. My mother had been in the past, and really wanted me to try it. The ambiance? Top Not h. The food? They were OUT of three things on the pre-fixe menu as well as a dessert we wanted. Our server didn’t feel compelled to tell us until we kept ordering...choice 1, choice 2, etc. until finally I said “,Perhaps you should lead with that information. Service was fair at best. Yes, it is the The City, however every other place we went...non-touristy spots, were sublime. And to be honest, it wasn’t a packed house. Our drinks didn’t get refilled. I had to flag a second server to get another glass of wine. The list goes on. I am sure this is not the typical experience, but I was sorely disappointed. Fortunately, the wine and ambiance kept me in the holiday spirit.
Marseille is consistently outstanding in every way -from the food to the service to the ambiance. It's my very favorite place for dinner whenever I'm at the theater.
The food was great. The only problem was with the service. The server did not bring me a fork for my entree when he brought out the others. We got the attention of a busboy who took several trips around the table to determine if I really needed a fork
This is our go-to spot for pre or post-theater meals or anytime we are in the times square area and it never disappoints. It is easy to make a reservation on open table and know that we will have a wonderful place to eat - with a full bar, wine and beer list and specialty cocktails, a menu with something for everyone, and lovely desserts. We particularly like that it feels more like a nice restaurant and less like a big chain restaurant over-charging tourists that are everywhere in this part of Manhattan. We arrived early for our post-theater meal but they sat us and let us order drinks even though there was still 30 minutes until the kitchen opened. We shared the hummus, grilled octopus, and fried calamari to start. Everyone enjoyed either one of their steaks or the chicken and then we tried the bread pudding, cookie plate and warm chocolate cake (without the raspberry sauce) for dessert. A perfect ending to our holiday Saturday in the city together.
We are long time customers of Marseille...have generally been ok with everything. Saturday nite tho was not great.....a table near the door on a very cold night, asked to be moved to any of the many other tables that were empty... and was basically ignored by the front door staff. We sat for a very long time before we ordered drinks (restaurant was not busy at 5:00p.m. Drinks took forever....food: lamb inedible: tough, gross...goat cheese tart had a huge piece of tomato on the top of it which rendered the puff pasty a soggy mess. Pasta was ok, nothing special, hamburger, well, any kid will eat a hamburger..... Our waitress was trying her best and was very kind to our special needs nephew...we appreciated that, but we'll think twice before coming to Marseille again. You must do better.....
We were disappointed they don’t do the special fixed price menu on the weekend. Brunch was good though. Always suthenticslly French
We’ve been to Marseille many times over the years, and it never fails to impress. Our group of 6 had great pre-theater meals, while celebrating my birthday. Our waiter couldn’t have been more delightful, offering a complimentary dessert and drink to celebrate. After the theater we came back for drinks. One of my favorites!
We had just returned from a week in France and dined at Marseilles to extend our French vacation. We were not disappointed. I had the French onion soup and toast chicken and felt like I was back in Paris. Service was good and the wait staff was sensitive to our need to be on time for an 8 pm show. I will definitely dine here again!
Food was disappointing. Bread was dry with no selection. Bouillabaisse was bland - no flavor whatsoever. Even the sorbet was bland. Service was attentive but felt strained and unnatural. There are many successful French bistro style restaurants in the city with excellent food but this isn’t one of them.
Nice place, good food, easy access, definitely a place to come back!
Charming pre-post theater. Delightful surprise in the food far surpasses usual pre-post theater fare.
Dinner for 4. Appetizers were delicious—pate, soup. Steak frites—very good. Mussels not as good as they’ve been in the past. Very convenient for the theater.
We were particularly pleased by the attention given to our theater schedule. After an early question about our timing, service was prompt and we had an easy walk to our theater curtain time. Thanks to Marseille for good food and considerate service.
I was 20 minutes late for my luncheon reservation. I told the waiter we only had 35 minutes to eat because of a 1pm curtain. He not only helped us select items that could be prepared quickly but continued to monitor our progress. The level of service and caring was incredible!
I have been to Marseille many times before and have always been pleased. There’s no place better in the theatre district!
Lovely restaurant , great food, friendly (mostly) attentive and always courteous service. ( asked if we’d like dessert, brought menus ...and disappeared for 10 min) Our party of 3 , pre- matinee lunch- food was flavorful,well-prepared and presented s. Dishes we had~ chicken grand~ mere, spinach- goat cheese omelet, and lump crab salad over endive with asparagus, mustard vinaigrette and hazelnuts...the last dish was overloaded with scallions-ahhh! Dessert was delicious, apple oatmeal tart with caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream. Reasonable prices, close to theater, nice ambiance and delightfully NOT noisy:-) Will def go back
Great. Really fabulous restaurant and love the food.
A pre-theatre dinner was just wonderful. We had a quiet and comfortable banquette and were able to enjoy our conversation. Our server was charming, knowledgable and professional. We enjoyed cocktails, a goat cheese tart, mussels, a cheeseburger and chocolate desserts and they were all delicious and prepared exactly to our liking.
Our meal was well paced and our server paced the meal so well that we were not rushed and still were able to be ready for curtain time without hurrying.
The theatre district has few excellent dining options. Marseille is a consistent and delicious choice.
We had a wonderful meal and our server, Nick, was so helpful. His recommendations were spot on.
Marseille is a wonderful restaurant. It never disappoints. The food is excellent, as is the service, and the ambience is delightful. It’s always a good choice for brunch, lunch or dinner.
Nice casual French dinner. Good food. Nice for friends get together.
This is the third time eating at Marseille. And one again everything was delicious! From the appetizers,
crab meat cocktail, mussels ( which was an entree but we shared it) absolutely delicious and the escargot.
Then dinner, duck special, trout, salmon and steak.... This was the first time for the couple with us.
Everyone enjoyed it! We will be back!
Too loud, sent steak back as overcooked, service was ok...nothing outstanding. Would look elsewhere before returning to Marseille.
