Marseille offers the tastes of France right in the middle of New York's Theater District. A perfect place for your group to gather before or after your time at the theater.View Private Dining Details
We have visited Marseille many times. It’s our Theatre District reliable place for brunch or lunch. The atmosphere is charming. The food is tasty. The price is reasonable.
I am French I am US since years, and my friends just don't go over there.
Service slow like reaaallllllyyy slow. Poor quality of products...
For 2 persons with only 2 glasses of wines total, we spent $265....
We ave never had a bad or just good experience At Marseille! It is our go to restaurant before theatre or just meeting friends.
Come early if you want relative quiet. The place is lovely. We were here of just appetizers including their delicious onion soup. One it got filled up. It was pretty noisy. But I guess this is nyc.
Service was very good.
Met a colleague for an early dinner, food was very good, reasonably priced, and service was attentive. Would definitely go again if I need a pace in that part of town, and have already recommended to an out of town acquaintance staying in the theater district.
Always reliable, tasty, and super sensitive to Broadway show times. Martinis are generous too.
Marseille is always outstanding! From the ambiance, to the service, to the food - Marseille is wonderful!
Calamari was outstanding! The best I have ever had!!!!!
Very nice restaurant with very good French food and service. The place has a definite European feel to it. Highly recommend this place.
The food was delicious. My friend and I both ordered the pre-fixed lunch. The mussels were plenty and the broth was delicious, it came with french fries. My friend got the soup of the day and I chose the duck liver mousse. We both enjoyed our appetizer. We didn't have time for desert because we didn't want to be late to see our play. There were many tables that were going to a play that day; therefore the dinning room was buzzing. I would go back there again.
Very nice restaurant if you love Sunday brunch...loved the eggs Copenhagen and my husband enjoyed his feta omelet. I love bloody Mary’s and this one didn’t disappoint.
Perfect for the theater. Food was outstanding service was excellent.
My daughters and I got together in NY to enjoy a girls’ weekend and went to brunch at Marseilles. The menu was so good it was hard to choose so we decided to get three different dishes to share. I got the omelet with gruyere cheese, bacon and caramelized onions...heavenly! The blueberry scone, mini spice muffins, coffee, everything we had was delightful. Great service too. We will tell our friends about it and can’t wait to come back.
Loved the food and the ambiance. The monkfish was well flavored, not a huge portion but a fair sized one. Loved the blueberry tart and the basil ice cream.
We had a great service. Thé good was fresh and tasty even if the monkfish portion was a little small.
Everyone was happe with their meal.
Pleasant surprise with good food and nice atmosphere. Had beet salad and shrimp linguine. Both were well prepared and tasty with some unusual flavors. Dessert was good as well. Will probably return
Food was excellent, we shared two vegetarian appetizers, one entree, and a dessert. All was delicious. We had to leave by 6:30 to get to a show and they made sure we were done by then. Very nice place for dinner.
We were slightly disappointed in the bouilabaisse and the French onion soup -- these dishes did not have full flavor. Otherwise a good dining experience. There is no bar, so the ambient noise level was quite tolerable. The location is highly convenient pre- and post-theater.
Been there many times and always have good meal and service. Can be a little loud at times.
Our server was great! The omelettes were excellent. Feel like I’m in Paris!
This has to be one of the worst trained staffs in the City. Our server was getting food questions answered in the kitchen (all we wanted was spinach added to mussels) while one in 5 of us had their drinks. It took 20 minutes for everyone to get their cocktails and the restaurant was more than half empty. There were 3 staff members 10 feet from us at the host stand chatting and I couldn’t get anyone’s attention.
Took a literal hour to get dinner and we had a youth with us. There were too many service oversights and missteps to write about. We sent the Chopped. Mediterranean Salad back because the tomatoes weren’t even pink in spots. The food wasn’t bad but it also wasn’t good enough to redeem the service. We may have found the one bad restaurant in NY.
Disappointing. The puff pastry on the goat cheese and tomato tart was so hard it was difficult to cut. There was a black pudding like film on the duck liver mouse that was just awful. The cocktails were served with so much ice there was barely any liquid. The potato gratin served with the chicken tasted like it was a week old. The only redeeming dishes were the hanger steak and creme brulee.
Sorry- very disappointing, would not return or recommend.
We never miss an opportunity to dine at Marseille. Pan perdue with mushroom ragu was great!
Had a nice dinner.Great food and waiter.A little loud.Tables really close but a lively ambiance.
Was looking to celebrate 70th birthday that was not to expensive. We had a lovely diner with very attentive service. Noise level is pretty loud, but it's a bistro so I was expecting this. It's located in the theatre district so it actually calmed down after showtime. Definitely would go back.
The food is good and the service is very good. We come here pre-theater for lunch and if early, we are not rushed.
it's worth the walk to 9th Ave ...........RS
Pleasant atmosphere! Service was friendly and helpful. A good choice for lunch in the theater district. Surprisingly, I unexpectantly met some friends whom I knew from many years ago. We all enjoyed our lunch and, will certainly dine there again.
Great place for a date, or that special someone.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time at this restaurant and the ambiance, food, and service were all done at a high level. I also thought the prix fixe was a good value. I will definitely recommend and return to this restaurant.
Perfect for pretheater dining. Fast and efficient service. Prix fixe menu is a good value in the area.
Our second visit, and it seemed better than our first. Overall everything was wonderful; our server even asked if we were going to the theatre (we were), and was mindful of the time for us. Highlights of the food-- the lamb (Saturday evening), and the summer chilled asparagus soup. We look forward to going back!
A long-time favorite. Food and service always good. Nice Parisian ambience. Good menu. Delicious desserts. Moderately expensive, but consistently good. Pleasurable dining.
Delicious food and great atmosphere. Waiter was incredibly stand-offish, did not bother to interact with us at all. Didn't even get to catch his name because he whisked in and out so quickly constantly.
I wish we'd been able to spend more time there! This was dinner in between Broadway shows, so we didn't opt for the 3 course prix fixe menu. Entrées were beautifully presented and very good. The atmosphere was actually like many restaurants in France, especially in the south. Calm atmosphere and quiet enough to have conversations. Very extensive wine list, desserts sounded lovely as well and I wish I'd been able to partake! Hoping to be back on my next trip to New York.
As per usual, we enjoyed our lunch before the theatre.
Marseille is a great on-the-fly French go-to spot in NYC that offers an amazing and extensive wine list and some delicious hors d'oeuvres. I have only been to France once in my life so it doesn't make me an expert on authentic French cuisine but I will say that the restaurant certainly has that French "feel" from the atmosphere down to the typical French bistro chair. The cocktails are delicious, the appetizers were scrumptious, and the steak that I ordered was to-die-for. Had a great time and I do plan on going again.
Pre theater dinner with my mom. She always complains that the escargot doesn’t have enough garlic. That said, a very good spot for the purpose.
Marseille never disappoints. We live in the neighborhood and it is our go-to place when meeting friends from out of town, for holiday dinners with family and when we just want a night out. The bar is a great place to meet friends--it's not a loud pick-up bar, just a perfect place to stop in for a drink. The reservation desk, wait staff and management are courteous and professional, warm and welcoming.
It was good... but not FABULOUS.
The online menu is not up to date.
The Restrooms smelled funky.
