As I said I was charged a tip of 18% regardless of the service. Never been to a restaurant that automatically added tip to the bill. It was not appreciated
Good food great atmosphere
I made a 10pm reservation for my anniversary. I called ahead of time to make sure me and my handicapped fiance would have somewhere to sit, just in case at table wasn't ready by the time we got there. We arrived on time and was seated at the bar until a table became available. After we ordered our delicious drinks, we were seated(the wait was about 10 minutes). We ordered 2 NY strips(made to perfection), lobster bisque(I wish I could bathe in it), crab cake(was pretty good but not the absolute best. The greens that came with it was delicious)Cheesesteak rolls(2 pieces but very tasty and filling),lobster mac & cheese(bubbly awesomeness), and calamari(meh). Overall food was a 8.5/10. Service was amazing. Drinks were nice and strong, but not overwhelmingly strong. Place is small, but the ambiance was nice. The only thing I would really change is the crappy music. Overall service was a 8 out of 10 because our waitress kind of forgot about us but to be fair, it's the last day of Restaurant Week and I'm sure it was a madhouse before we got there. Overall experience was a 9. We are definitely coming back to try the rest of their menu!.
We have made Marmont a staple for dining and again it has lived up to all of reviews. The food was amazing, the service was great and the atmosphere was wonderful!!!!
I had the tilapia stuffed with crabmeat served with risotto. It was delicious. I asked to sub the risotto for the mashed potatoes but they gave the risotto in error. They immediately brought the potatoes. This turned out to be a good error I tasted the risotto and it was delicious and not under cooked which is what I was afraid of. The only thing I did not care for was the cheesesteak rolls they tasted like the were made with ground beef instead of steak. Also this is a small cafe sized restaurant but the decor and ambiance is very nice.
Our reservation was at 6:30 but due to tables being full, we had to wait at the bar for about 40 minutes. The staff and management were extremely friendly, offering us free drinks and a plate of fried calamari for the trouble.
The food was excellent, their crab bisque especially leaving a good impression to our party.
I would definitely go again (perhaps on a less busy day!).
Despite making a reservation, a table was not ready for my party. Then we were seated beside the hostess station and computer where my toddler daughter was given a chair that kept getting bumped by servers at the computer. The food was an additional debacle. We ordered and requested our toddler’s food to come out with the appetizers. The first issue was that what we initially ordered for her we were advised after 10-15 minutes that it was a mistake and it was not offered on the menu. We quickly changed the order and it still did not come out for another 20-30 mins. When our toddler selection came, my daughter did not even eat because she was so cold ( from being placed in front of the door) and tired. The second issue was regarding the preparation of our main course. We requested med well plus and despite being sent back to the kitchen, the steak still remained pink. It was restaurant week and I guess they were more concerned with quantity and not quality. You get what you pay for. We will not be returning to this restaurant, discounted prices or not.
It is a small place but the staff is very good the food is amazing and It makes for a great night out. You just have to expect that even with a reservation because there are not many tables you may wait a little while.
I had a reservation for 7:30, we had gotten there 10 minutes early so they asked us to go to the bar while they flipped some tables. We ordered drinks and were waiting as they sat other tables, which were there before us so that's fine. Then at 8 they were seating other people and when we asked when we would be seated they said that should just be another minute and to just hold on and have another drink. By that time I realized that there were more people standing at the bar waiting for a drink then there were seats in the restaurant. Finally at 8:30 we decided that we couldn't wait anymore and decided to go somewhere else for dinner. Highly recommend Jim's Cheesesteaks!
I went to Marmont this weekend to indulge in Restaurant week. I’m a foodie so i wanted to try someplace new and where my husband and i can both enjoy a decent meal. He’s a steak lover and i don’t eat meat and the menu options were perfect. My food was delicious however my husband didn’t enjoy his as much. He ordered NY strip but received Prime Rib which had a lot of fat. The manager pretty much brushed it off and came off a little arrogant. While leaving there was a party of 12 waiting to be seated and my husband told them about his experience and the entire party walked out the door. He missed out on revenue all because he wanted to be cocky. The bartenders provided great service .
I had a 7 reservation and was seated at 8 pm. I was very disappointed
Waited over 1 hour to be seated after having a reservation. The reservation was at 6:30 pm and was seated a little after 7:30 pm. 3-4 parties were seated before us. The only waiting area was at the bar which was packed. Food was ok but not worth the 1 hour wait with reservation. They were very behind on their reservations and offered free drinks. If you didn't have reservations you will be turned away since they were booked or overbooked due to restaurant week.
We were seated by the door that constantly opened. It was about 28° that night. It was VERY crowded and my friend was late so I couldn't be seated until he arrived. Even though it was restaurant week, I seemed to have spent more at this place. But I did have a separate order of asparagus and I had food to take home. I would go back just don't sit by the door in the winter
Delicious as always
Long wait even with a reservation. It was very cold because we were seated near the door and everytime people came in or left we froze. Food was average .
We’ve been coming here to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries for ten years. The food was great as usual, although the bread pudding, which we usually love, seemed to have too many raisins in it. More raisins than bread pudding. Overall, we had an enjoyable experience like we always do. But because it was restaurant week and there were a couple of large parties already seated before us, we had to wait an abnormally long time to be seated. Our resv was for 6pm and we weren’t seated until 7pm. This has never happened before and I would definitely come back and recommend it to others, but they need to impose a time limit during restaurant week, at least for large parties, since the place isnso small.
Perfect every time! Food is always amazing! Highly recommend whatever the special of the day is.
Food was cold & rushed
Let me start by saying Marmont is one my absolute favorite restaurants in Philly. I'm chalking this experience up to the hectic demands of restaurant week. This was not Marmont's quality of food or preparation. Reservations were for 9 but weren't seated until 30 to 40 minutes later. Ribeye steaks were overcooked, came out cold and full of fat and gristle. Hoping this is all the fault of restaurant week. Will return in hopes of getting good quality food that we're used to.
Some of the food tasted spoiled
I was thoroughly disappointed to have this as my first restaurant week experience. Everything from the waitress placing her hand over the top of my glass, no potato soup unless I waited 20 minutes, vegetables extra, onions for the steak extra, no steak sauce, and charge for my beverage (bottle of Snapple Ice Tea) only to receive 1/2 of it. The worse was watching a waitress wiping the seat of the chair then wiping the table with the same cloth! YUCK!
Looking for a good steak? Go anywhere but here.
The food was very very good. The best Mac and cheese I ever had from a restaurant. However the wait was long even though we had reservations. I believe it was long because of restaurant week but there was no seats for waiting and we had to stand anywhere including next to people tables that were eating.
Went for restaurant week so it was a little hectic. Front area got crowded quickly since there is not much of a waiting area at all. Kept apologizing to the people at the table by the front door who were trying to enjoy their meal since I had to shift into their space every time a person came into or exited the building - there was nowhere to stand besides blocking the front door. Once seated tho, the service and food were great. The crab bisque was amazing and the steak was a substantial ounce - unlike other restaurants who only serve a 6oz. during the promotion. Definitely one of the better valued meals I've had during restaurant week.
This is always one of my stops during restaurant week. Boutique style steakhouse, I like the ambiance. Can get loud when the restaurant is full and tables are close so don’t get too personal with your conversations(random but had to say it).
We were seated more 30 min after our reservation, and weren't given anything for the wait. The crab bisque was very good, the marmont salad was pretty good. My med rare NY strip came medium, my date's med rare ribeye came rare. We were never asked how we liked our meals. Whenever the door opened, the temperature in the room dropped 10 deg. Not what I was expecting for a Philly steak house.
Excellent service, tad small, little more divey than expected. Overall great food, very nice staff; recommend if in olde city.
How can they charge $9 for 🧅 and not tell you before you get them that was a total rip-off and my steak was horrible
Seemed a bit overwhelmed with restuarant week but after we got seated great experience... good food good service..will be back!!
When on philly restaurant week, very crowded but food was excellent
First visit & everything was wonderful. Will recommend to others
I dined during restaurant week on 1-15-20. I was seated right away and a waitress was at the table in a timely manner. It’s a small dark venue. The bar takes up most of the rear of the restaurant. I order the lobster ravioli, the combo calamari(not on special) and a Caesar salad. The food was average nothing to write home about but good. I also ordered a mango martini which was nice but taste more like orange then mango. My companion ordered the rib eye which had to be sent back due to it being Very over cooked. The replacement was satisfactory. We also order bread pudding and chocolate cake... I didn’t taste the cake so I can’t comment but the bread pudding was dry and lacked flavor. I used the restroom to only wash my hands, which they only have 1 ladies room. It could use some attention. The things that were good were very good . The things that were bad were very bad. For this reason I would give them another try.
The food was excellent and great customer service. I loved for restaurant week that the food you received the regular portion you would get on regular menu. This is my second time I have be there I defiantly would come back again.
Loved the food.
We had an amazing time here. The service was good. The food was good even though. They have the best potato soup I've ever tasted in my life.
Excellent service by Bill
Creative cocktails @ a slick bar... great Steak frites, and awesome staff! Favorite spot in Old City!!
Loved my server kita! Very outgoing and humorous! All the food was fantastic! Got myself a cowboy steak and man was that the most delicious 30 ounce steak I’ve ever had with a good portion of Brussels sprout to eat with it! Would totally go back especially for the lamp lollipops and crab Mac and cheese! Just to die for!
Tried something different and went for the special steak of the evening which was oven roasted, it was delicious so much flavor. I left enough room for dessert and had the creme brûlée yummy. Thank you Marmont for always satisfying my food needs!
I had the tiger shrimp for my appetizer. The staff was very welcoming and kind. The ambience was great, went there on a first date, I was very impressed by the the food. I had the filet mignon Oscar and it was cooked to perfection. My server Bill was great at recommending the Malbec wine to go with my steak. I highly recommend going there for the excellent food and great service. I will definitely be going there again!!!!
Amazing Fried Shrimp, prepared perfectly very big! The baked brie is a perfect way to start your meal! They had an expansive cocktail list.. the sparkling lavender martini is a must have! The ambiance is cool and interesting, perfect for just hanging out or a date night.. my server was helpful and knowledgeable! props to the chef for the awesome apps and the perfectly cooked steak! Will be back soon!
