Marmont Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
My friend and I shared the Filet Oscar and it was excellent and cooked just the way we like it - medium rare! We also shared the caesar salad and side of mushrooms. Salad was very good but mushrooms were terrible. They were thinly sliced, mushy and way too salty (we're also both saltaholics so if we say they were salty..............)!It was a Monday night and at 7PM we were the only ones at a table although there were 3 couples sitting at the bar.
Although recommended third in a list of steakhouses by our hotel's concierge, the Marmont proved to be anything but the typical steakhouse. In terms of décor/ambiance, the place resembles the dive bars of my college years, with dingy furnishings, strange lighting, and a bar that takes up most of the room. The restaurant (if it makes sense to call it that) was nearly empty on a night when the hotels and the good restaurants in Philly were overflowing with people, which is the worst impression a restaurant can make on new guests. Although the food wasn't nearly as bad as the rest of the restaurant would suggest, it will not win any awards. My ribeye steak was way too thin and not cooked properly, two serious errors that should not be make by any decent steakhouse. In the end, the place should probably be renamed the Marmont Bar & Grille and pitched as a late-night cocktail spot with decent food. At least then it would have a chance to live up to its name/reputation, instead of falling woefully short.
Horrible service , food was just ok .. my husband steak over cooked .. no one even asked how it was .. waited for drinks .. silverware ... waitress didn’t ask if we wanted coffee or dessert . It was very expensive for such a horrible experience and horrible service
Overall good experience! Our food took awhile despite us being one of three diners.
Worth the wait!
Our drinks were not good. We questioned club over tonic. The waitress said she made them. We learned from another waitress that there were specials that our waitress didn’t tell us about. Would have been nice to know.
Overall good food! We would go back.
We were a little worried when we got there and there weren't any other guests (but it was a Monday...), but the food and service did not disappoint. Bathrooms were downstairs, so I'm not sure that it would be good for someone who isn't able to do stairs. We all had steaks, brussel sprouts and asparagus. All were very good, but the brussel sprouts were amazing!
ordered the 222 medium & it came out well & it wasn't the 222!! I asked my waitress & she said it was. I guess she didn't realize that I was their 2 week prior & got the 222! it was much bigger that what I was served this time around. I was really pleased with my 1st experience their, that I passed up Barclays Prime just to go back to Marmont. I must say I was thoroughly disappointed.
Had the restaurant week menu (they kept it one week afterwards); excellent food (steak, potato soup, cheesesteak eggrolls). The steak was perfectly done, a good cut and tasted wonderful. The Marmont is a bit beat up on the inside, and doesn't immediately look like a place that'll have great steaks - but it did!
The service was sub-par; we had to constantly hunt down our waitress to get our water glasses refilled. The food runners kept coming out and automatically placing the food in front of the wrong people without asking whose food belonged to who. Otherwise, the food was delicious.
From the time we were seated the wait staff was so attentive. Made sure that we were taken care and kept us posted on when meals would arrive as well as making sure we were satifisfied. The food was amazing. Season to perfection, moist, tender and well cooked. My starter was crab bisque. Real lump crab meat and the flavor was great. Calamari as the appetizer fried to golden perfection. I got the 12oz steak with mash potatoes. Whipped mash loaded with flavor. Over all I will go back as I was very satisfied with my meal.
I enjoyed my dinner. Came here during restaurant week. Got a 4 course meal for a great price. The crab bisque was excellent! The fried calamari I really didn't care for.. It wasn't fried hard enough & I didn't care for the marinara sauce they served with it but my entree was great I got the rib eye with the mashed potatoes & a side of asparagus. The meal was great! The place was small as were the tables.. But I would come again
This is my third time at Marmont and my boyfriend's first. It's hard trying to talk him into trying a new restaurant for steak (he's a barclay prime, the prime rib kinda guy) so he reluctantly agreed. Despite it being restaurant week, the food was awesome and the service was great. I had the rib eye, he had the ny strip. This is now one of his top spots for a good steak! We will be back! Thanks, Marmont, for the great service during what's historically a hectic, poor-service week for many restaurants!
We were coming for restaurant week and looking forward to trying this place out. We made our reservation and arrived on time. However, we were told there would be a 15 minute wait, so we could sit at the bar or wait outside. We were taken aback as we had made a reservation and were there on time - a table should have been ready for us. We waited at the bar. Eventually the hostess lead us to a table that was shoved in a corner right by the door. It was hot and cramped in this spot. No one came to take our drink order for a few minutes, so we decided we were done and walked out. My boyfriend attempted to notify the hostess that we were leaving but she wasn't paying attention so he gave up. Will not be back.
I was very pleased with the service including the day-of call I received confirming our reservation. The wait staff was courteous, polite, and attentive. However, the food was less than exceptional. In fact, while all four of us ordered the NY Strip cooked medium-well, it was apparent that none of them were properly cooked to specification. That said, my server was very kind in taking back my gray colored steak (which had not a speck of pink) and having a new one prepared. This greatly elongated our dining experience - but I appreciated the gesture. While I was very happy to have a steak that was not as dry, it still was much more akin to something I would expect from an Applebees. Sadly, Applebees is only a fifteen minute drive from our home - we traveled in excess of an hour to dine here. I should add that the ambience may have been better had we not been joined by a table celebrating a 21st birthday immediately to the right of us. In all, the experience was not horrible to be sure; but it a was far below our expectations.
