About Marlowe

Marlowe is a market driven neighborhood bistro housed in a rustic-chic and inviting space. Bright and bold flavors from a three-star chef and a little family history create an exciting new restaurant concept nestled in San Francisco’s slick SoMa neighborhood. Marlowe was created by restaurateur Anna Weinberg along with a few partners and pals.

Offering a menu of classic bistro favorites with unique and flavorful twists, Marlowe Executive Chef Jennifer Puccio, who earned three stars from the San Francisco Chronicle for her cooking at Cortez, created a mix of snacks, appetizers, mains and sides made up of the kind of food she loves to eat when she’s not working.

The cuisine of Marlowe was a perfect dinner for my last night in San Francisco.

Patrons are loud Silicon Valley types so know that you may be sitting next to a loud venture capital deal happening at the table next to you. Otherwise, the food is good but maybe over-hyped; the wine is wonderful. I came for the decor and was not disappoint at least in that. Good for Instagram photos.

We came here for a double date and it was perfect. Loved the signature cocktails. And the crispy brussel sprout chips are a must.

Good food, nice service, crowded, popular place, noise level unacceptable. The Hamburger & the Rack of Lamb were perfect. As the evening wore on we were finally able to talk to each other. Perhaps it would be better to come later to this place. Service was pleasant & right on time. The prices seemed fair.

Good place, good chef, reasonable prices but terribly noisy.

The menu rarely ever changes which gets very boring. They need to change it up. Also, they always have super LOUD music playing and with the marble and acoustics it would already be a very loud restaurant, but with the blaring music you have to yell across the table at your dining companion which is annoying and unprofessional when you're having a business meal.

Food is decent. Service was painfully slow. Waitress was very nice just meals all came out at different times. First two were fairly cold. Cocktails took almost 30 minutes to arrive.

We arrived a little early and they sat us right away. Our waiter was attentive and met our every need and the food was exceptional. I would highly recommend Marlowe to anyone.

What a pleasant surprise; lovely cocktails (also the alcohol-free glitter bomb) and great food, amazing fries with aioli and delicious ribeye.

My husband and I drove up from Santa Cruz for our anniversary and chose Marlowe for it’s fine reputation with the SF Chronicle. From Kristen our amazing waitress to the innovative “Baker” cocktails to the reality incredible burger & fries, everything was perfect! Truly a fun night in the city. We’ll be back with family and friends in tow!

Phenomenal as always - Marlowe never disappoints. The winner dishes today were the polenta with mushroom and farm egg for vegetarians and the fried chicken sandwich for non-veg. And the service was fantastic as well. We used to only come for dinner, but are now likely to return for brunch.

All the dishes and food was quite good but enjoyment of it was curtailed by the noise level. It was impossible to have a conversion without screaming over the noise in this crowed trable to close environment and unnecessarily loud bad music. The decor was dull and unimaginative common B B (boring black) & white. The high gloss white and black porcelain tiles only added to the noise level.

We got our reservation 1 hour before dining which was perfect because we had to be in the neighborhood for an errand and Marlowe has been on my list for a long time. I’ve heard so many good things and was frankly disappointed. It was extremely busy and that resulted in it being very loud. A lot of big groups celebrating for the holidays; many of which had too much to drink and were practically screaming. I go out so no judgment but didn’t expect that from a finer dining scene. I wanted a nice date night where I could hear my husband across from me more than the drunk lady across the room. The food was really rich but not amazing, not a lot of health or vegetarian/pescatarian options. My husband got gr burger I’ve heard so much about it is was “fine.” Our server was nice but wasn’t exceptional however when waiting for our table (in a small standin space they have for waiting guests) multiple stopped by to ask if we needed drinks which I appreciated.

We'd been to Marlowe on other occasions - didn't remember service being so slow (i.e. the time it took for our meals to be delivered to the table) once we had placed our order. Food was OK but nothing really special, given the very large price tag. Staff were helpful with facilitating the presentation and cutting of the birthday cake we had brought in with us.

Obviously a restaurant more for the young, downtown business set, my sister and I were nevertheless received very cordially and seated where we could tuck our niece's baby (in her stroller) out of the way. It seemed that we had the only table in the restaurant where that would work, so we were very happy. Hamburger was delicious: flavorful and cooked just right. My sister loved her angus steak salad. With all the added taxes etc., we were a bit surprised by our bill, but for what we needed (walking distance from Adobe's offices on Townsend), it was perfect! An added bonus is that the SF flower market is near by. Would definitely go here again, should I need a restaurant in that area. Marlowe has a limited, but very tasty-sounding menu.

Came here on my sister's recommendation of the amazing cheeseburger. Lived up to expectations. My girlfriend and I split the burger and prosciutto. The burger was great, the prosciutto was prosciutto - nothing special, wouldn't get it again unless you love prosciutto. Great ambiance and service.

Everything was fine till they offered and sold my friend an after dinner drink and then asked us to leave before she could drink it. Then I got to stand outside alone in a sketchy neighborhood and watch the staff hang out inside while I waited for my car. Sell her the drink or don't but you can't have it both ways. Just a disappointment and embarrassment for me for picking the restaurant.

Delicious food in a cozy atmosphere. My girl friends and I shared a scrumptious meal together recently and absolutely loved it. The cocktails are on point and the food was perfectly prepared. I will definitely be coming back! Yum!

So noisy we could not hear the waitress or each other. Food was just fair. Pork chop was good. Burrata was gross. Burger was ok. Shrimp had mealy texture. We asked them to box our leftovers and then they lost them. A very fair experience.
