Offering a menu of classic bistro favorites with unique and flavorful twists, Marlowe Executive Chef Jennifer Puccio, who earned three stars from the San Francisco Chronicle for her cooking at Cortez, created a mix of snacks, appetizers, mains and sides made up of the kind of food she loves to eat when she’s not working.
It was terrific - and I came to support my local neighborhood restaurant! Many thanks, Susan
Service and food were awesome, love this place.
Never disappoints
Amazing breakfast with very thoughtful service and beautiful atmosphere! Definitely going back
Excellent hostess. Danash made my guests and I feel so welcome and comfortable. The food was amazing. Everyone was very happy. We liked our table and our servers. Thank you! Look forward to returning.
No frills but good food. Appetizer salads are great, and pretty large portions. A no-brainer place to go have dinner with coworkers or clients. Service is consistently good. Awesome drinks, too. A bit on the expensive side on the wine list though.
Absolutely delicious!! The brussel sprout app are a must but truly everything was mouthwatering.
It was a nice spot for a date night
My best friend got engaged and we went here as a celebratory brunch. I asked if they could bring a glass of champagne to us as we sat down, which was done without question. The service was great and the food was even better. Thank you for helping make the meal special!
We really enjoyed the food, especially the clams. We will definitely be back.
Food was delicious and very hot when it cane out which I loved. Service was rather slow but it was ok since we weren’t in a hurry. I had a Pimm’s Cup which was a little short on gin.
We were seated timely. Immediately realized the noise level was beyond comfort, nearly impossible to convert with table mates.
As for the food, the octopus & squid salad was great! The pumpkin soup was flavorless, cool, and just a nebbish kind of thing. The salmon dinner was OK, salmon cooked perfectly, but the seasoning was a bit harsh. The pork chop was way overcooked, extremely dry, something I would never have expected at a place were it is one of 6 or 7 entrees. The green beans accompanying the chop were perfectly cooked and flavored with butter.
The service started out great, but after the salad we were essentially left to our own devices for 30 minutes! Hmm, maybe that explains why my pork chop was so dry??? We actually had to flag down or server to insist we get our entrees served.
I do not recommend going to Marlow unless you do not mind parting with a considerable portion of your paycheck for, at best, a mediocre meal with poor service.
Pretty solid start to finish. Sincere and timely service -seems like they work the room as a team. Steak temp was a little off for me but all the food was super tasty. Brussel sprouts, tartare and NY steak & fries.
The tables are really packed in so you feel like every spot is a communal table (even though it’s not). The Brussels sprout chips are $9 for basically the dregs/leftovers/shavings of a roasted Brussels sprout pan - I was expecting something more innovative. Awkward to share. The polenta wasn’t creamy - it was chunky- and not that warm. The two things you want in a polenta are creaminess and warmth... the side of cauliflower was ok, but the cheese on top seemed cheap and the cream on the inside watery. When we asked our server for advice on dessert she recommended against our top two choices. The chocolate ice cream and merengue cookies she insisted on was good but it was basically a scoop of ice cream on a wafer thin cookie with chocolate sauce -$11. Maybe the burger is just the star of the show here and we should have let our server order for us.
Too much truffle oil on the polenta. Ruined my tongue for the day.
Butter was too big and cold for the pancakes. Plus side: pancakes were delish and HUGE.
Good burger
Rock shrimp were tasty
Enjoyed the place
It’s always great going to Marlowe
The service and food is always consistent and exceptional!!
Marlow is a very elegant location that has excellent food. The service is really good and the cocktails a lot of fun. It is just a little to expensive for my taste.
Excellent neighborhood gem with great and attentive service, a nice wine list, and good food. The menu is limited but the food we had was very enjoyable. It can be a romantic spot depending on where you are seated. Noise level is acceptable for a trendy restaurant.
Oysters on the half-shell were nice. The deviled eggs were amazing. The pistachios were basic. The brussel sprout "chips" were tasty. The Marlowe burger was genre defining. I have never had such a rich, beefy, soul-satisfying burger! So fantastic that I cannot wait to return and sample the rest of the menu!
This spot is a favorite Food is superior
Hip fun place in SOMA. Lively Sunday brunch scene. Efficient service. Really good food and great drinks.
Awesome food, service and ambience
The meals did not appear as presented - a pork chop was not a pork chop and did not come with the sides presented in the menu; salmon was good but nothing special - sides not particularly exciting - was excited about going but disappointed
If you want a fresh new vibe, this place is fun and open with a great staff. The food was good, but we were shocked with how expensive it was. We paid $100 pp and split burgers, salads, with two starters and dessert and we brought our own wine. It was expensive given we split our main entree and had the cheapest thing on the menu..the burger! Our waiter Francisco was amazing though and it was fun and within walking distance of the train so we didn't have to drive.
Great service and stellar food!
Loved it! Delicious polenta, but that dessert, Loretta Vacchion (sp?) DELISH!!
Went there for a Sunday brunch with a friend.
Don’t forget to make a reservation cause the place was full...
I really enjoyed my frittata who was way to big for me. 😅
I gonna go back for sure with my hubby!
Fantastic! Excellent
Food and service and delicious bloody Mary’s!!!
Food was great. The place is tight so the noise level was pretty loud though. Not in a bad way, but was hard to hear conversations at the table at times. The space is small so many times wait staff walking by kept bumping you passing by so that got annoying after awhile. Overall a good place though to have a great meal.
We had a very nice meal on a Sunday evening at the end of the holiday season. Varied menu options for everyone- some wanted lighter fare, others something more substantial. Good food, service and ambiance. We even found street parking in front.
We had dinner after our Cirque show. The food was great! Got seated right away. Crowded night ~ good vibe. Brussel sprout chips, pork and polenta dishes were quite tasty! All good, except for Our server. He couldn’t really be bothered, when discussing menu items. Walked away when we were in the middle of selecting items. After we ate, we asked for the pork chop dish and polenta dish be packed up to go. For some strange reason, he tossed the yummy pork meat and pork ribs (uneaten), and packed up the polenta. Maybe he ate our leftovers? When asked where the pork was, he stated he threw it out because he thought we didn’t want it (even though we asked for 2 containers). He never offered to make it right, as in knock off a portion of the bill, or throw in dessert. He barely apologized for it. We get it, mistakes happen. But try to make it right, Marlowe.
Wonderful meal with my daughters. Thank you
Very disappointing. A smile never cracked the face of the hostess, who barely looked at any arriving guest or paid attention to anyone. Seems very clear she didn’t want to be there. The waitress’s favorite expression was “we can’t do that”.
- Can’t provide the “toasted pistachios” because they’re only available at lunch; brunch apparently doesn’t qualify. She didn’t try to make an inquiry about it.
- Can’t make a separate Bloody Mary because they make the mix in advance. It was so spicy you couldn’t find a single person in the restaurant drinking it.
- Can’t cook the “candied bacon” any crisper because it’s too thick. BTW, no “candied” taste at all.
- Thought we’d try the “French Toast soldiers” but they were not hot, almost cold. Didn’t choose to mention it since every preceding question earned a “we can’t do that” response.
It would be easy to be accommodating and simply say something like, “let me see what I can do“ and then make a genuine effort to resolve it. Very consistent with the last visit we made there for dinner. There’s almost no known brand name of alcohol in the house, so they offer a local alternative you probably never heard of, and of course, they won’t let you taste it. Might be a liquor law, but they could probably sell a $1 sample and you wouldn’t mind.
I think we are finished with this restaurant.
Their red wine selection -by the glass-is fair. This is my opinion. I believe the same for Cavalier
Delicious as always. The grilled octopus salad was very good.
Our overall experience was pretty good. Liked the space and atmosphere. We made our reservation for 2:30pm through OpenTable. When we arrived, on time, the hostess was annoyed at our reservation time, even though they had it listed as a valid time on OpenTable. She said that they just closed the kitchen at 2:30pm, but that if we ordered right away, she would see if the kitchen would make it...wtf?
We ordered right away and waited a reasonable time for the food, which came all at once. The server explained that it was because the kitchen closed. I want to note that another table of 4 sat nearby us 10 minutes after we sat. They were served as well, without the snarky comments about them being even later than us.
For the food, our requested medium-rare steak and sunny-side up eggs, were served well-done and over easy. As I noted to the server, it wasn't a deal breaker, so we ate it, but wanted him to know. He just said "Ok" and walked away.
I would recommend Marlowe in a random dinner and not on NYE!!
Loved this place. Great food, great drinks—especially the “Juicer,” a serrano chili infused gin cocktail.
Fantastic as always
Great place to go for dinner before Chase Center events. Convenient parking. Not too far to walk either. Perfect Burger and Caesar salad. Loves the Deviled Eggs. Our server helped us get out on time so we didn’t stress. We’ll be back before the next Concert.
