About this restaurant

  • Neighborhood gem
  • Charming
  • Great for creative cocktails
Opened in 2010 and relocated to its current location in 2014, Marlowe is a New American bistro located in San Francisco’s Soma neighborhood in the former COCO500 space.

Brought to you by Executive Chef Jennifer Puccio and award-winning San Francisco designer Ken Fulk, Marlowe focuses on classic comfort foods with flavorful twists, like Chef Puccio’s signature Marlowe Burger, seasonal poulet vert, brussels sprouts chips and quail egg topped steak tartare.

Taking inspiration from the butcher shops of the past, Marlowe is designed with a sleek but comfortable feel, featuring white subway tiles, white marble, deep blue banquettes, wood block tables and specials listed on rolls of butcher paper.

Showed up early for our 5pm dinner, they don't serve dinner until 5pm. Bummer. Limited bar menu. Burger and Braised Lamb were good but the lamb was not hot (temp), just warm which I don't care for. My wife tasted 3 of their white wines and did not care for any of them, bitter, tart. I had a cab, their pours are skimpy. Seating is "cozy". Not sure I'll be back.

Solid. Food, drinks, service, ambience — everything was great. Lamb riblet appetizers, New chicken dish and cod were standouts. Sat at 6:40 out at 8:05 for an 8:30 show

Fun place . Food not as amazing as it once was. Still good . The hamburger itself used to have more meat . Fries still excellent.good access off Freeway if meeting those coming from east bay or peninsula. City vibe without the hassle of driving into town

Beautiful day for lunch in the city. Bright interior. Grilled gulf shrimp app and grilled skirt steak salad were both really tasty. The cocktail sauce was killer. Great service. The other plates coming out of the kitchen looked amazing. They're killing it

The food was delicious. The bourbon cocktails were great, but others fair. Waiter was great, but food service extremely slow!! Main meal took over thirty minutes to be served. No apologies either.

Marlo is always my choice for brunch before a San Francisco Giants day game. The servers are friendly and knowledgeable, the kitchen staff is top-notch, the bartenders know how to make great cocktails, and the food is fantastic.

Once again, the Team at Marlowe knocked it out of the park! The four of us started with the grilled octopus: absolutely divine and exceptionally prepared, the gougeres, which are simply sensational, the burrata and prosciutto, beautiful ahi crudo and a dozen oysters. Everything was perfect. Our server Caleb paced our meal beautifully and provided supreme service: it's front of the house staff like Caleb and the host/maitre d' that make dining out the romantic experience with food we often miss but is still alive and well. For our entrees my son had the bacon burger, which was cooked perfectly medium rare, I had my favorite entree - their black cod, my husband had his favorite, the braised pork cheeks, and our guest has the bone marrow and bread as an entree with a side of fries. The cheesecake with berries and sesame crunch crumble was light and the peanut butter bites were fun to share and enjoy with our espressos. Marlowe is certainly a SF gem with a beautiful menu done exceptionally well, every time.
