Offering a menu of classic bistro favorites with unique and flavorful twists, Marlowe Executive Chef Jennifer Puccio, who earned three stars from the San Francisco Chronicle for her cooking at Cortez, created a mix of snacks, appetizers, mains and sides made up of the kind of food she loves to eat when she’s not working.
What Insiders Are Saying
We’re still on the lookout for a Soma go-to, near the ballpark. Marlowe is a base hit but not a home run. (Clever, we know.) That's what we're here for.
Way too loud
Fabulous food, atmosphere, service. loved it
Excellent service and the food was delicious! Great drinks too!
Need some sound muffling material in the restaurant. Tables much too close to one another.
Great, had the chicken sandwich and it was a home run, service was attentive without bring overbearing, we were able to have a pleasant conversation the entire time, do while busy at lunchtime, noise level was fine. Will definitely go back.
I loved the Poulet Vert, and I don't normally order chicken. The asparagus and spinach were delicious. The fava bean hummous was a touch underseasoned. Nice wine list. Reasonable prices and selection.
Went on Mother's Day so did feel a little rushed. Servers were helpful but we were told we only had 10 minutes to put our order in since the kitchen was going to close
Celebrated Mother’s Day a bit earlier. Everything was great...food, service, and atmosphere. We all loved the food...a dozen raw oysters, baked oysters all around, Caesar salad, bone marrow, pork chops, salmon and fries/Brussels sprouts on the sides. All so delicious and perfectly cooked. Our server Dave was great and recommended the crepe brûlée and Loretta’s Vacherin. Both did not disappoint. A perfect way to end the night. Thanks again!
Marlowe was a first time experience. The food and drinks were good but pricey. The deafening noise was a turnoff and the tables were so close together; it was difficult to get in and out of the banquet. The appetizers left me cold. A deviled egg and oyster appetizer consisted of just one small portion of each. I will not be coming back again.
Food was good though very few options for main course 5-6?, some of them mainly staples
Tough to say I wouldn’t recommend but that is the reality. I’ve been here several times and the “it” factor is a little less each time. The major problem this time was that my burger bin was stale (very stale...like tough and cardboard like) and the fries were lukewarm. It’s still a fine place but there are others out there with more attention to detail.
Noise level was terrible - tables were very close together and made it impossible to enjoy our meal
Lovely place to enjoy dinner. Food was great and the space is really beautiful.
Our server was GREAT!! He checked on us often, kept our drinks full, was very pleasant! The food was served pretty quick and tasted wonderful.
Perfect spot for a birthday lunch. Menu offered plenty of creative options. Their burger and fries are tops. Nice vibe and excellent service too. ‘This is a place I’ll frequent. Don’t miss the funny gallery wall near the restroom
The food, drinks, and atmosphere was top notch. I would definitely return to this location.
Pricey and loud. My money would have been better spent elsewhere. Service was very good.
Overall a good weekend brunch spot! I imagine it’s much busier during the week. The drinks and oysters were amazing! My egg scramble was alright nothing special. But I loved the cheese used ! I wish I got the frittata, it looked delicious. My bf got a burger which he said was good but the fries were the perfect way.
Marlowe has been my go to for the past 11 years for breakfast, brunch/lunch and dinners whenever the Giants are in town. Just a plain topnotch place to go to.
Compliment the management for providing a complimentary serving of the French Toast Toy Soldiers and Deviled eggs on our last visit on April 28th brunch. That was what we were going to order. Enabled us to try the tasty seasonal scramble and polenta for the first time. Third person in the party ordered her standby Marlowe Burger. Staff is always congenial and attentive.
Went there for brunch - lovely bright atmosphere, delicious libations, and ate every morsel of our entrees. Yum!
Service and food was great. I’m not a huge horseradish guy which many things had. Chicken sand was on the salty side. As like many places in SF, it’s not fun to spend $90 for 2 people on breakfast. However, you a reading a review of someone that loves McDonald’s Breakfast.
We love the atmosphere, decor + the food. The employees are always super friendly. It's a great place for lunch after a morning at the flower market.
Food was good, but we had to ask for our Easter brunch cocktail four times and were almost done with our meal before it came. When we said we no longer wanted the cocktail, it was merely acknowledged by the waiter. The maitre'd said and did nothing.
Our waiter David was the sweetest. The gem salad was excellent.
Hostess was pretentious. Everyone else was friendly!
Had a very enjoyable Saturday brunch with friends. None of us had been to Marlowe before. The restaurant has a lively, warm ambiance with ample sunlight and an industrial-chic vibe. Service is friendly and attentive, food came out promptly, cocktails were tasty and each of us savored every bite of our meal. Everyone said they’d go back again for certain!
Ongoing road construction along Fourth Street to bring light rail to Mission Bay makes it a challenge to get to right now (Spring 2019) so I advise allowing extra time to get there.
We were old friends who hadn't seen each other in awhile and travelled long distances for dinner together at Marlowe. Ali (Alexander), the manager, made sure we all had an outstanding evening at Marlowe- the service and food were both exceptional, even by San Francisco restaurant standards! Thank you for making our very special gathering truly a night to remember.
Perfect for any occasion
Had a nice comfortable time! No real complaint other than... when you order “Deviled Egg” you might expect one whole egg cut in half yolk deviled, not half of one egg! But, it was tasty!
Great atmosphere, great service, great food! Highly recommended
Food was excellent but expensive. Great service and great wait staff. Small and quite loud, tables are very close together. All in all, I would go back just for the food.
Way overpriced, very cramped, food less than good. Not recommended.
Space and ambiance was good. Had dinner here and food was just okay. Nothing to write home about.
Pork chop was dry and not much taste, angus ribeye was tough & didn't have the marbling as expected. The sides & starters were slightly better than the mains.
Delicious brunch. Space is beautiful but very tight. They were accommodating of children. Forgot that we were celebrating a birthday though I had it in the reservation, but they fixed it. Would go back
The food and service were both outstanding. This was our second time and we were pleased on both visits. This was brunch, and we brought friends. The frittata, scramble, burger and fried grit cake all got a thumbs up. The atmosphere is very sleek and pleasant. We will be back!
The food and cocktails were amazing!! Delicious, fresh and creative. The oysters, burger and chicken sandwich were so fresh. Loved the blood orange margarita with black salt, featured drink. The service was impeccable. We had our toddler with us and the hostess quickly brought a high chair, crayons, and interacted with her. Our server was friendly and the entire team was engaged and happy to work there. We had a great time and would highly recommend Marlowe for lunch or dinner!
The service is always excellent!! The food is great.
Always a wonderful experience!
We had a reservation and had to wait for 20 minutes to get seated. They did not seem too bothered by it.
Nice place. Hear the drinks are great but I don’t drink. Space and ambiance very good. Both my guest and I did not care for our lunch. I hear I should have ordered a burger. :0(. Too many other places to go to for great food.
This is the kind of place you might go for a birthday party, bringing along some Mylar balloons. Marble interior, extremely loud 2011 kid cudi soundtrack, vaguely NYC vibes.
