Marlow Tavern did not honor an Open Table reservation for lunch because they booked a private party for the entire space. They should have blocked reservations for the relevant time. At the very least, they should have offered to comp wine or dessert on a return visit. They lost my good will and I will not return.
Everything was just perfect!!!
That’s the second time I ‘ve been to Millows however, I was really hoping not to find the same rude staff working there as before. Well, turns out it didn’t happen, to be honest, was even worse then the first time, so I assumed this is Millow’s standard service quality.
I simply don’t understand why they kept pushing us to finish our lunch and get out of there so badly. The place was quite empty, with a few available tables yet and wasn’t closing time because guests here and there kept showing up. We just finished lunch, and the grouchy waiter put the bill on our table then return to pick up the folder and when he realized that we weren’t ready his reaction was even more unpleasant. He didn’t even offer a dessert menu, and we wanted dessert.
Of course, I am not stupid to go back for the third time to this place, but at least maybe through this review I can spare someone else’s time.
Lovely space with gracious host and staff. Tasty farm to table options and an extensive wine list. Good choice for families, foodies and anyone who appreciates food prepared with care with the freshest ingredients.
We had a rough start as the waiter didn’t come over for 45 minutes. Once we got the manager attention they recovered.
Very good meal. Decided to give it 5 stars (4.5 wasn’t an option) due to the quality of the food (and coffee) to be absolutely superb. I truly enjoyed the simplicity and perfectly balanced dishes we ordered.
Only issue, which really wasn’t an issue was the Brunch Menu was different than what is posted online (menu said Fall 2019).
Duck appetizer was good. Lobster pasta entree was a small serving and was disappointing in flavor and texture. Service was very disappointing. My husband's pizza came out before my entree and he was half way done before my entree came out. My dessert menu arrived with a piece of tomato on it. Server just didn't seem engaged.
A fabulous experience with delicious food and a warm and friendly staff. We will definitely go back.
Our favorite restaurant in the neighborhood. Solid food choices, excellent cocktails, nice atmosphere. Our neighborhood "go to".
Great time! Met with a friend. Food on point, service on point, drinks delicious. Would definitely come back.
Arrived with my 9-yr-old, and she deemed the pizza the best ever! When I go to Marlow, I feel as though I’ve been welcomed home by my family. Everyone is warm and accommodating.
The staff were very nice. They mistakenly included meat on our vegetarian pizza but were mortified that they had done that and comped us on the pizza. The food was delicious and the setting is very nice. We sat outside.
Scallops dish, octupus dish were tasty and done well. Great balanced flavor cooked perfectly. Outdoor seating is nice with a view of the Cathedral.
Wonderful beginning to end. Told them I was having a friend/biz meal....they could not have been more accommodating with the right amount of attention paid to us to impress my associate.
He was very happy to have come uptown from CPW for a “neighborhood” restaurant experience. As he remarked when we left, “this is what I miss about NYC when I stay in midtown”.
And this is exactly why I live on the UWS.
The best restaurant ever at this lovely corner spot across the street from St. John the Divine and near Columbia. Focused, interesting menu that will satisfy any food issues, including a desire for very good food that is locally and responsibly sourced. Wine/beer list better than that at larger places . Staff is very warm and very professional - a thin line to walk. Have been here several times, most recently for a reunion with a dear friend that lasted hours. Looking forward to returning.
Lovely, charming Italian restaurant on a quiet corner on the UWS. Beautiful outdoor seating. Menu was average in variety but the food was good and the ambience even better. I will be back.
This place is a gem, eating outside on a balmy late Spring evening looking at St. John the Divine cathedral corner, after strolling throughout its grounds. Super pleasant service and delectable food, it captures the ambiance of Morningside Heights.
Excellent place, normal size portions, servers are knowledgeable and courteous.
If you can eat foods exactly as they prepare them, then this is good food. If you have any dietary restrictions or needs, then go somewhere else. We were told tonight that the kitchen couldn’t even be asked about a special request varying the menu because they have a “house policy” against honoring such requests. Will be interesting to see if this attitude can survive a site and area that has seen significant turnover.
Our local favorite -- great for friends from other neighborhoods, and a nice spot for us mid-week.
Terrible!!! One person got served when others done and meat was cold and raw
Will NEVER go back!!
We booked because it’s near the Cathedral and were pleasantly surprised with it. Great ambiance and food. Great service too.
I have dined at Marlow many times. I've always enjoyed the food and the service is usually quite good. My most recent dinner there was consistent with my previous experiences.
Our two "rare" hamburgers were so raw, they squeezed out the sides of the bun when bitten.
The table water comes tepid, without ice.
The tiramisu resembled tiramisu in name only. My father would have joked that it probably sat next to a real tiramisu.
It was a perfect venue
Was a busy day and had difficulty getting seated/good service
Food was great and very fresh
Wonderful ambiance, excellent service, and --most important!--fabulous food!
We all had different dishes and they were quite spectacular!
We went for half-price wine night but they had canceled it. The halibut lacked flavor. Their portions don't match the price. I had been there a few times and the quality has gone down. I won't go back.
Octopus was exceptionally good although food in this Restsurant is 4-5 star. We were seated immediately in a nicely located table . I just wished that they have table cloths for dinner or during special occasion such as Mother’s Day ,Valentine’s Day etc .
Our waitress was very attentive and efficient ,Kudos to the chef.
It is an excellent Nieghbor restaurant
Love the food. Service needs to improve
Service was slow and indifferent. 20 mins to get water or menus. Host didn’t bring them right away even when asked - instead went to another table first. Service was slow generally, waitress forgot one persons food, etc.
The service is strange
Best risotto I've had outside Italy. Five of us ordered it and loved it! The half price night on bottles of wine made it all even better.
What a perfect neighborhood bistro. The families are there earlier in the evening, giving it a warm vibe, followed by the adults later around 8. Food is super great. Service is super great. Love the wine by the glass list. All in all, a delight.
Perfect food, perfect service!
Service was awful, we made a reservation at 830 for 4 people. We got there on time. The waiter said there were no tables available. the only table available was for 6 people and only for 6 people which we realized later was not true as only 2 people used the same table. Food was awful and the service the same.
Our new, go to neighborhood spot. Good food, nice atmosphere and reasonably priced.
Great date spot. Lovely atmosphere and well presented dishes. Not bad
My husband and I love Marlowe Bistro for every occasion -- from date night to a family birthday to a night out with friends. The food is delicious every time we go, and the menu is seasonal. The wait staff remembers us and our small children. This is a true neighborhood gem -- the best restaurant in the Columbia/Morningside Heights/Manhattan Valley neighborhood for sure.
