July 16 - A Night With Winemaker Steve Matthiasson

We have seating times: 6:00 or 6:30. This will be our only dinner option this special evening. We welcome James Beard award winning winemaker Steve Mathiasson to share his wines with us accompanied by a 5-course family style prix fixe menu and Pairings for $195 ($95 for food only) plus tax and 22% gratuity. The menu and pairings are displayed below and in "Menus" section on OpenTable. Steve dreamt of farming his entire life. He became an obsessed gardener, cook, and homebrewer while studying philosophy in college. In 1994 Steve began working for a small sustainable agriculture consulting firm overseeeing vineyards and orchards and in 1999 he co-authored the California manual on sustainable vineyard practices. In 2002 he started consulting on vineyard practices in Napa, and now, in addition to farming their own vineyards, he pays it forward by mentoring marginalized people with the 280 Project and teaching organic viticulture at UC Davis. Steve is a life-long student of the art and craft of viticulture and winemaking, which is why his wine label features a pair of pruning shears, the tool that every viticulturalist wears on their belt for pruning, harvest, or opening beers. Come share Steve Matthaisson's wine and stories while enjoying Chef Michael Ryan's soulful Italian cooking. We ordered several items...highlights were octopus, ravioli with peas, cauliflower and the ribeye. We brought our own wine and the wine service was professional. Servers Lauren and Yassir were attentive but not obtrusive. Overall a great dining experience.

Very small space with a very limited menu. Tried too hard to be 'avant-garde' but really just feel flat. The best thing about the place was the Bianco bread. Other than that, myself and my guests were not very impressed with the meal.

We had a great experience for my moms birthday. Everyone was welcoming and friendly. The food was so delish!! I’ll have to go back and try more entrees!

Marlena strikes a great balance between casual and sophisticated. Service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is always relaxed yet polished. The Iberico Secreto was rich and flavorful, but the real standout was the halibut—perfectly cooked with exceptionally balanced flavor profiles of mushroom and artichoke.
