Mark's Off Madison is a new fine dining restaurant and New York bakery from acclaimed chef Mark Strausman, best known for the iconic Freds at Barneys New York restaurant. The menu features Mark's rustic Italian cuisine and homemade pastas, as well as the greatest hits from his career, like Belgian fries, Madison Avenue Salad, and Eggplant Parm. The bakery features his Straussie's bagels and bialys, in addition to breads, cakes, and pastries.

Our dining room is seated at the NYC-approved 75% occupancy rate. VERY IMPORTANT: please be sure when booking to select the seating area you'd like--standard (inside) or outdoor seating--as we are unlikely to be able to move you to a different area upon arrival. Our patio is partially covered with an awning, but not enclosed. If rain forces us to close our patio we will notify you as soon as possible.

For a sidewalk cafe right off Madison sq park, the noise level was amazingly low! It was a bit challenging to get a waiter to take our order, but understand many restaurants are still short handed with employees. The food was eye candy and delicious all around. The only shortfall was a salad for which the waiter did not know the ingredients; he went to find out for me. Unfortunately the list of mixed vegetable I was told was not what was delivered. It was mainly a big bowl of kale. Best to stick with the traditional chopped and other Fred’s salads. Or the less healthy options - eggs on potatoes latkes, bagel/lox/cream cheese and of course the fries! I will give it another try!

We have eaten there three times; I suppose the repeated visits say something about the food and the venue. Especially nice is the outdoor seating when the season allows it.

Yummy!!! Love that they re-opened again. The bread basket might be one of my favorite items on the table. The OG Madison Avenue Salad and the BIG Belgian fries. So happy that they are open.

Delicious food! We missed the calamari and French fries and pizza so much, delighted to find you again! Service was amazing. Wine and sommeliere were perfect. Great experience.

We were seated promptly at our reservation time. The bagels, spreads and fish were fresh and plentiful. Good coffee and delicious banana stuffed french toast.

What a great spot. Delicious food which features many Italian specialties. Lots of seafood choices as well as pasta and other options for vegetarians. Warm professional service . We always feel so well cared for here. Fantastic outdoor patio on a quiet side street is the perfect spot to enjoy a summer or fall evening.
