We had a terrible table. We were the first party of four to arrive, and they gave us a round table made for six people. Other parties of four arrived after us, and were given excellent tables. Why? When we asked to be reseated we were told the seating was set for the night. They didn’t even give an explanation as to why we couldn’t have one of the many open tables. Also, the noise was deafening. We could hardly hear the other people at our table.

This restaurant has the best steak in town, and serves some of the best steak I've ever eaten. And, it's not just the steak that is so excellent, but the salads, soups, and appetizers are also exceptionally good. We've eaten here twice now and we've left with the same opinion each time.

What a fantastic meal! A perfect balance between classic and innovative. We went for our 5 year anniversary dinner, and Billy took wonderful care of us, and was quick with thoughtful recommendations for sides, cocktails, and desserts. Highly recommended.

This is our new favorite restaurant in Santa Fe! My friends were on a restricted diet and were accommodated on all levels and did not feel that their meal lacked any of the flavor or excellence that the rest of our party experienced! Hospitality, deliciousness and delight all around!

This was the best restaurant we ate at while in Santa Fe, we were there for 6 nights-

Billy was the best waiter I’ve ever had, great guy-

I’m not a drinker, so I asked Billy for a suggestion, he said I’d like the La Prima Verde...he was right, so green and refreshing-Previous night at El Meson the drink tasted like I had been poisoned, it was horrid, so I was brave to trust Billy, but worth it-

We split the Butter Salad, excellent flavors, citrus goat cheese to the ancho chili buttermilk dressing-

I had the scallops with the corn risotto for my entree, every bite was amazing-My boyfriend had the 8oz filet, he had ordered a side of the horseradish caramel sauce but the filet was so good he didn’t use it-

We also split the chocolate brûlée, tasted like brownie batter, very good-

We will be back in Santa Fe in August and I’ll make sure we eat there twice-

Food and service were very good. Nowhere on website or during reservation process did i see mention of a fixed menu for NYE. A little disappointing not to have more options and made it pricy.

Every single dish that touched our table was beyond phenomenal. My daughter and husband both agreed that their steaks were the best they’d ever had. I’m a sides kind of girl, and their sides were perfection. Dessert was incredible, also! Highly recommend!

Bottom line- We made the most of a lackluster experience. The reason for the low rating was the fact that there was a required Prix Fixe menu at $95 a person. My father has dietary restrictions which severely limited his options. We were not aware of the requirement at booking, which would have influenced my decision to make reservations here. It was a lovely time with the family, but $95 each is faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar overpriced for the meal. Please open the menu up or lower the price.

I had the lamb and it was cooked perfect ,my partner had NY Strip and it too was fabulous. Wedge salad was also quite nice. Bread and butter were so good I had a hard time not eating it all. The space that the restaurant occupies feels a bit empty, I hoped for something more romantic. There was large group seated in the middle in the room that filled the space with noise , fortunately they were finishing up and left within 15 mins. We ended up finishing our dinner after the closing hour therefore had bussers sweeping all around us, which made us feel rushed. The staff was friendly and we had an overall good experience. Its a new restraunt and deserves a chance to work out a few kinks.

As the name suggests, this place has great steak. Ordered Rare NY Strip and it was evenly cooked through the length of the cut.
The sides are largely portioned....almost too large. I tend to worry where the restaurant is cutting to give out such large portions, but the green chile risotto was nicely spiced and prepared well. The mushrooms were a mix of all varieties. If you aren't adventurous with mushrooms I would steer away from the mushrooms as the variety mixed from shitake to oyster to bella.
We were given complimentary prosecco because it was a birthday, this was a nice touch and greatly appreciated.
The service was kind of mixed as well, the host would ask if needed something and said she would attend to it and then nearly half a minute later the server would also come over and as the same question. Perhaps it was a busy evening but the redundancy in service was little off, but better the be over served then under.
Over all would highly recommend for the steak and perhaps family style with the sides.
Pro Tip: Ask to sit at the tables....the booth we sat in was really worn and sunk deeply when you sat in it.

Had the flat iron steak -- the quality of the meat was awesome -- would go back. The sides were on the expensive side. Relatively noisy inside -- cold air coming in when outside door was open.

We live locally and we have been to MS 5 times. It is our favorite restaurant. Chef has a wonderful touch in maximizing the flavor of the base food and the seasoning. The beef is the best in Santa Fe and the other mains are equally well prepared. Service is personable and professional.

Restaurant staff are excellent. Food was prepared with great care. If you can, leave room for desert. You have to try the Bread Pudding. It is the best I’ve ever had. Very cozy and warm.

The restaurant was empty except for one other table. The wait staff appeared to be relatively new to their jobs. The food was a mixed bag. Do not order the onion rings which are heavily breaded. The grilled octopus was good but the portion was small and the dish was about half filled with chips. My steak was good and the mushroom side dish was excellent.My companion had the duck which she said was outstanding. The music in the restaurant was typical hotel music and detracted from the experience.

This meal was extraordinary! There was not any course that disappointed. We were three and between us had the green chile corn chowder, the roasted marrow, the halibut, the filet, the cowboy rib eye, the green chile risotto, the truffle fries, the creme brulee, and the bourbon bread pudding (enough for a small village). We brought good size portions home to enjoy tomorrow. This was an expensive meal but well worth it for an anniversary celebration. Definitely will return!

Market Steer Steakhouse is a welcome addition to the Santa Fe dining scene. Our steaks were excellent tender piece of meat, each cooked completely correctly to order. Our wait staff was as helpful and as pleasant as could be.

The restaurant is in an elegant hotel dining room, which unfortunately, has had both good and bad restaurants over the years. I worry that the uneven reputation of the space from the past will discourage diners for this fine new place. It was not very busy on a Friday night.

But for those who desire a perfectly cooked juicy and tender steak, this is the place to go.

Second visit for us & totally enjoy! Great atmosphere & wonderful staff. Food is expensive but so are most steakhouses. Good variety on menu for the non beef eater. We’re locals & will definitely go back!

I have had a lot of ribeyes in my life, and this was probably the best one I’ve ever had. It was magnificent. Highly recommend if you like a good bone-in ribeye. The bread pudding was also delicious. So glad they opened this place and hope they stay in Santa Fe.

The food is excellent. The wine list is much improved since my last visit. They have some decent half-bottles which is much appreciated for us single diners. The single malt scotch pour is one third what it should be. A few hitches with the service, which were quickly corrected. With a little fine tuning, this place will become a first tier Santa Fe gem.

Delicious food, friendly and attentive service. Bone marrow appetizer was heavenly. Side portions are very generous, each large enough for 3-4 people which makes it a bit tricky for a party of two to not over-order. Meat was cooked to perfection. Like the a la cartel menu but $4 for “enhancements” to meat is a bit much.

The food was simply not good. The Cesar salad was tasteless, the onion rings tasted like they came from a freezer package. The creamed spinach was the strangest I’ve ever had. It tasted & looked like it had cream gravy on it. The steak was ok but overcooked & had no flavor. I had been so looking forward to a new steakhouse but was majorly disappointed. Definitely would not recommend.

You have a lovely restaurant but you need to address the sound problem. Very loud. Too loud. Everything else is very good but if you don't do something about the noise people won't continue to come.
We live in Santa Fe and it would great to eat there once a week. The food Is that good.

My husband’s steak and truffle fries were good. The server was extremely accommodating by offering the hatch chili risotto as a side to my entree as a replacement as I need to eat gluten free. The table side s’mores were fun and excellent. The restaurant fell short on their fish dishes both the tuna tartare which was non-descript and the snapper which was not as fresh as it should be. The deal breaker for us as to not recommend was the super fishy smell that was in the front of the restaurant when we were leaving from a dish that had just been served.
