Market Restaurant offers an elegant yet comfortable dining experience. Located on Main Street in St. Helena, the historical building features exposed stone walls and an antique bar dating back to the turn of the century. The menu features American classics with a fresh seasonal approach and the wine list offers a diverse selection of wines to complement Chef’s creations, with an emphasis on wines from local Napa Valley vintners. In addition to a locally inspired and reasonably priced wine list, Market never charges corkage.

Market Ratings and Reviews
This was our first visit but it will not be our last . Wait staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and know how to be attentive, but not bothersome. We had a late lunch so we had a light dinner at the Market, but will go back for their baby back ribs. Great cocktails. My wife said her crab-cake was one of the best she has had.
We loved Market. The food is excellent. This was our 2nd time. It was quiet when we first arrived. Then they got busy all at once. It became disorganized. Our server didn't attend to us very well because of the rush. We put in the Open Table reservation that it was our anniversary. They didn't mention it. So I don't think they bothered to check the reservation information when we came in. My impression was that we were a table of 2 and the new people who came in were larger parties. The server paid attention to the larger party because he would get a bigger tip. We always tip at least 20%. The manager or owner who went around to talk to people should have pitched in made drinks and saw to it that everyone was taken care of.
We arrived 45 minutes early for our reservation but was still able to be seated. Host was friendly and courteous, The food was awesome, We had the Filet Mignon, got to say it was the best I have ever tasted! Didn't take long at all for the food and it was pretty busy. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the area!
Spent a weekend with my family in the wine country and chose the Market for lunch after positive reviews on Yelp. The restaurant definitely lived up to those reviews as the food and service was excellent. We were greeted happily by the staff and accommodated very quickly. The menu was fantastic with so many dishes I would have liked to try. We did have the lobster roll and calamari appetizer. The lobster roll is like a Vietnamese spring roll with similar wrap and lobster mixed with vegetables. It was very good. The calamari was fried with a very light crisp batter and was also very good. I had the fish and chips which I liked very much.
Market was well reviewed on Open Table and Yelp, but it exceeded our expectations.
My wife's Market burger was probably the best restaurant hamburger ever!! the meat was cooked perfectly medium rare throughout, the condiments great and the fries perfect. my crab louis salad was outstanding; lots of crab, fresh crisp lettuce, great dressing (not a louis dressing, but so delicious I asked for more. A great Napa valley lunch experience!! attentive service too!!
Unfortunately they were out of all the meat entrees we wanted. Being a large group we were stuck because we made the reservation I had to leave a credit card that is automatically charged. The owner should have let us out of the reservation when he didn't have a full menu to offer. Disappointing.
MK and I are in Napa of our 25th wedding anniversary and we picked Market because it is centrally located in St Helena. We actually walked there from our hotel for dinner. We had a reservation at 7 pm but we arrived early and were promptly seated. Our waitress was somewhat prompt in a very busy restaurant. Oddly enough we ordered drinks and not wine which were mixed perfectly . We ordered the caprese salad which was really good but lacked a little burrata. We ordered fried chicken and the day scallops which were cooked perfectly but a little warm and not hot to the touch. All tasty but missed the mark slightly. No dessert, a last drink and off we went. Market was great, not amazing but truly a must stop if you are in St. Helena for dinner.
The food was excellent. Seasoned perfectly and cooked to perfection. We shared the Ahi poke bowl as an appetizer - I took a photo so that I could try to replicate it at home! Scallops and halibut were moist and juicy. The vegetable risotto was not too heavy and delicious. The atmosphere was high end but also comfortable. I would highly recommend! Great friendly service from every staff member we encountered.
Dressed up or down, Market is perfect for locals and tourists alike. We frequent Market after more formal events, simply because, to us the atmosphere is tasteful, slightly formal with an absolutely wonderful menu. While the choices may seem limited, the variety will suite almost every taste. The emphasis is on quality of taste and freshness. Presentations are outstanding. Our service was just a little slow, this time, however our favorite server was not available at our table. Market is one of two, go-tos for us here in St. Helena.
Wonderful dinner. I had the Tbone special that came with crab mashed potatoes. I ate every crumb. We had 2 desserts and Port too. The Waitress was very attentive and answered all of our questions. we wanted to share 2 classes of port to show the differance between tawny and ruby. She was nice enough to split the ports into 4 glasses. We were a group of 4 with one vegetarian. She had a pasta dish that she said was good. I can't wait to go again.
