Bustling neighborhood gem. Serving seasonal farm to table dishes in a lively setting either the cozy bar, dining room with fireplace or porch which in summer is open air. Whenever possible we open our beautiful patio adjacent to the town square. The beverage program features classic and craft cocktails, extensive wine by the quartino and locally focused craft beer.

The dining room has a warm clubby vibe while the bar is welcoming and cozy. In warm weather there is no place as beautiful as the 80 seat patio that also offers comfortable lounge seating to enjoy a cocktail.

The five private dining spaces are the ideal location for business meetings and dinners, family celebrations, rehearsal dinners and showers.

Monthly special dinners include summer Pig Roasts and wine dinners.

Really nice setting, manageable menu with a good balance of fish, pasta, sandwiches, etc. everyone liked their dish. And all dishes were nicely presented. Good desserts. Couldn’t eat on the lovely outdoor patio due to weather, but it looked like it would be a great space to dine. Very nice server. Great experience overall.

I have dined at Market House on numerous occasions and have enjoyed it thoroughly...primarily at lunch time or on a week night. On this particular evening, however, I was disappointed with the food, service, and noise levels...particularly the noise levels! I realize that the restaurant can't control noise level very much - it's pretty dependent on who is dining there on a given night - but our party could barely hear each other from just across the table. The room we were in seemed to amplify the cacophony, and it really disrupted our dinner and diminished the overall experience.

Our hope was that the food and the service would make up for this frustration. Unfortunately, it didn't. The food wasn't bad, per se, but it was hard to justify the prices. Overall, the food was "fine"...which, as the commercial says, isn't really what you want your customers to tell you. Our server was nice and cheery (as was her trainee), but she could have been more attentive to our needs. We had to ask for drink refills twice, there was no beer or drink menu on the table, and we went for long periods between seeing her at our table. Again, I would say the service was "fine"...not bad, but not great.

I will most likely dine at Market House again, but I'll probably just stick with lunch...and try to sit outside if possible!

This was the worst dining experience I have ever had. From the lack of professionalism from the wait staff, to having 3 meals mixed up and delivered incorrectly, to the poor quality of food presented, it was extremely disappointing. As a local living in Lake Forest we have continued to give Market Square a chance, and have tried to support local businesses, however after our experience on Friday we will not be returning. I cannot recommend this as a dining destination for anyone

A very pleasant downtown spot. Clearly a favorite of the locals. Very good food, pleasant atmosphere, reasonable price, and conversation-friendly.

Roared Chicken was small portion and dry. Server said peas in the dish my daughter was ordering were peas in a pod but they were not when the meal came. Server and staff were very pleasant and attentive. Ambiance was nice as always. But food was a big disappointment this time around.

I had a wonderful time out on the patio, we shared a fantastic salad, split the fish tacos...okay 2 for me and 1 for her. The wait staff was superb! This is a wonderfully comfortable place to eat for any occasion, and so close to the Dear Path Inn.

Dishes were not described accurately. My friend and I ordered what we thought were hot dishes...it was cold that day... The fish was cooked, but the veggies were raw... Seemed strange. Nice wines...

I really miss when this restaurant was North Gate. Things are so different and it seems like it continues to change. I went there for Mother's Day. We started off with the female bus server that leaned over our table, paused and then picked at her false eye lashes on our table. We moved tables. Asked if they could put fruit on my son's french toast and that we were fine paying extra money. They said no. Then we asked if they could make the adult French toast into a kid's menu. Again No. The children's menu was very limited and they wouldn't make adjustment. $18 for 1 slice of plain french toast. $18 for a kids small butter noodles.
My husband and I ordered the 2 hamburgers. The meat was not cooked at all. We had to return it. When the wait staff came back half of my burger was missing! Not sure what happened. She went back to make another burger. Both came out raw again. $42 for hamburger is first over price, but serious undercook twice? Staff wasn't friendly or welcoming walking in. I was surprise, since it was Mother's Day. My husband and I didn't eat our meals, but we did share a glass of wine. This place has changed. I do not recommend this restaurant.

Very hit or miss. The burger was excellent. My appraiser had so much liquid smoke added I couldn't eat it. The chocolate flourless cake was dry, stale, and tasted old.

Service was the real problem. I noted it was a birthday dinner on the reservation but we given a poor table in a doorway, had a bad waitress, and we were never offered dessert - we were rush out. I've been here before; I hope they don't rest on past success and improve current service to meet out expectations from better previous experience.

They have changed the menu. With limited offerings, check the updates before you book.

We had a reservation, but the high school-ish hostess seated us in the bar by the bathroom because the dining room had reservations (note again, we had a reservation). We found out later through this app she didn't check us in through our reservation. They corrected the booking after I called later.

Overall...meh.

Restaurant is in a convenient location. Orders initially were improperly fulfilled (wrong side dishes, etc.) but that was corrected, after dishes were delivered to the wrong guests at the table. Noise level was high at first, but abated as the lunch hour came to an end. Food was good. $100 with tip for 4 at lunch (2 had burgers), no alcohol.

I had the Salmon salad. The salmon was good but the salad was boring. It was mainly cabbage. The carrot cake was not moist. We shared it and even so we all left most of the small piece we had.

The occasion was Valentine’s dinner with my husband of 30+y. Our server Elisa (I hope I have the right person; she is Latina) was the best part of the evening; she was attentive and personable! My meal: lobster bisque was too salty; lobster pot pie was salty, lean on vegetables, pie crust was thick and hard; hand-made vanilla bean ice cream needed more vanilla. My husband enjoyed his meal: crab cake, open-faced reuben, hand-made maple bourbon ice cream. I have had better meals at this restaurant when it involved a catered holiday meal.
