Chef Arik is the reason to come to this place. His obvious love of food shines through it all. We were so impressed we ate breakfast and brunch there both days. I would DEF come back to see what other delights he has cooked up.
We thought the view was outstanding and definitely liked the new menu! Loved the hotel and definitely would return to eat at this restaurant!
For a New Years Day brunch, I expected two things: better and more. The food had been sitting out too long and had not been replaced, therefore it had either become soggy or, at best, lukewarm. The service left much to be desired. There was no greeter, so when we entered, we awkwardly stood in the entrance for a few minutes, unsure what to do. Additionally, since it was a buffet, we went for a second round of food, and upon returning to our table, noticed it had been cleaned, as if we had paid and left the establishment. We were gone for less than 2 minutes. Overall, I would have rather gone to a casino brunch buffet, as all locally are much better (and $10 cheaper/person) than what we experienced today at Market.
The food was so good. The staff were so helpful. I would go again.
We went at 10:30 am on a Sunday, thinking that brunch would be crowded, but apparently we missed the earlier crowd. The food was very good, but had obviously been sitting out quite some time. I can only imagine how fabulous it would’ve been fresh, hot and moist.
We will definitely go back, just a bit earlier. The view was lovely and the service was excellent with just the right amount of attentiveness.
Thanksgiving dining selection was excellent. The Churchill's Garden cocktail was sweet, potent and delicious.
The restaurant is inside a new very contemporary hotel. When entering the lobby from the pkg lot, my initial reaction was the cool temp of the lobby. It may be due to the openness of the lobby to floors above. I found it quite chilly. Front desk staff were welcoming and responsive to directions to the restaurant. The restaurant entrance echoed the contemporary look/feel of the lobby; lots of chrome and glass. The hostess was very friendly and led me to our table. The waitress soon appeared to take the drink order.
Because this was the Thanksgiving holiday buffet, I will give the food four stars. The restaurant was busy, and they were definitely prepped for a large crowd.
They had several offerings in each category. Southern style shrimp and grits, macaroni and pimentos and greens were fair; the grits were gluey, not creamy, and baby shrimp fair tasteless. Turkey and roast beef were other main choices. Sides were typical green bean casserole, sweet potato casserole and redskin (good choice) potatoes. Salads were skimpy and not interesting, along with a sad olives and cheese board. Wondering why rolls were kept warn, but cornbread was set by the desserts- no chance of being warm.
On a regular day, I might give the food 3 stars, but based on today's choices, I would not return.
What I had was good, but NOTHING WAS HOT; every dish was lukewarm at best. No seconds of anything for me! Desserts were brown butter sauce almond pie , pumpkin cheesecake and pumpkin pie. Both the almond pie and pumpkin pie slices were pulling away from the crust, a sign they were sitting out for a while, or not well baked. Pumpkin cheesecake was only sweet tasting, no other taste discernable.
For me, the standouts were the people working today. Every person I encountered, from the front desk to buffet servers and waitstaff, was friendly, helpful and welcoming.
I really wanted to like it more than I did.
We were expecting a Brunch Buffet and were disappointed to learn that they have recently ended the Brunch Buffet for an al a carte Brunch menu, with a very limited selection. The food we had was excellent quality and tasted good, but we would have liked a better selection with more menu items to choose from. Also, the service was not very attentive. Took a long time to get coffee refills, etc.
Food and service was incredible, beautiful hotel. Can’t wait to go back when it’s warmer so we can sit outside. Pricy though.
Thank you for the fabulous review and we can't wait for the weather to warm up so we can open the patio too! By then we will have our new menus out and our brunch will be going from buffet to a la carte in the main restaurant. You can follow our Overlook Kitchen + Bar Facebook page for all the latest updates and we hope to see you again very soon!
