Marjorie Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
The food is creative and well worth a visit, the black cod dish was exceptioanl, and the plantain chips a must have. The dissapointment is service, which was very slow with some requests ignored altogether. I ordered a glass of wine from the owner, after a 15 minute wait I asked the server to please bring it, I was assured it would be brought immediately, it never came. The menu items were priced fairly, however the cocktails were very overpriced, a single shot beverage was 14.00, while a Nonalcoholic beverage was 10.00, very steep for a casual restaurant.
This place was great!! My intent was to go for Seattle Restaurant Week- I wish there would have been more details on which days they were participating though-I couldn't find this info on the website. I'd also like some heads up on the drink pricing: I got a couple old fashioneds and while they were AMAZING they were pricey without knowing beforehand. The pricing really threw me; but other than that: beautiful place, will go back again.
Six of us went to Marjorie for Seattle Restaurant Week dinner. There was a good variety of options on the special 3-course menu. We went off the menu for a couple appetizers which were very good - chicken tikka masala and fried plantain chips. Their back room is set up well for larger parties. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The best part was a visit by Donna, the owner, who was very pleasant and shared the story of her mother, for whom the restaurant is named after.
Why did I wait so long before returning to Marjorie? Had dinner with friends for Restaurant Week and was immediately captivated by Marjorie’s. The restaurant is so charming, cozy and inviting. The service was wonderful. And the food was divine! Highlights were the plantain chips/bean dip, pork ragout, miso cod, and apple crisp/ice cream. So happy to have re-discovered Marjorie’s!
It was our first time here and it was a vibrate atmosphere. It’s smaller than I thought it would be but that made it feel cooler. The food was wonderful and the margaritas were excellent. Outside patio was closed due to temperature but I can only imagine how that will add the the cool vibe if it was open. We will definitely be back. Thank for a very fun first time. Sherry W.
I really enjoyed my dinner at this cozy restaurant. The decor is funky and original and the music soundtrack was similarly unexpected and interesting. Service was very friendly. My wine, a big red from Washington called "The Buzz," was delicious. I tried the Bibb salad, which was perfect, and the simple but very flavorful bucatini-like pasta with truffles. Make a reservation -- the place was jammed by 7 pm.
What a great time we had in our 1st night in Seattle! Katie was our server and she did a really good job. We the Burrata, Mexican Street Corn and Hush Puppies (the best) for dinner: Halibut, Duck, Steak Tartare and Hanger Steak everything was delicious. The cocktails were spot on, kudos to the bartender! Great spot out on the patio and a wonderful time. Make sure you stop in for dinner and drinks if you are in town.
Marjorie Restaurant is a special gem. The food is delicious and well-apportioned. The atmosphere is relaxing but yet professional. The night we were there the restaurant owner even came over to our table to make sure all was going well. We also received a "going-away" gift of plantains for the road! Definitely a must eat experience!
Wonderful. Food was flavorful and presented beautifully. It was a fun cozy setting allowing tables to interact a bit and get recommendations from each other. The type of restaurant where you just can’t help ogling each dish that comes out to other tables. The ambiance was perfect for a Saturday night date. Oh and the cocktails were amazing as well. I couldn’t have asked for more of the experience.
Love this restaurant! Great food, lovely outdoor patio, wonderful owner who poured our wine and chatted about her favorite dishes. Truly a lovely little place. Food was outstanding! Interesting cocktails! We have been to this restaurant a couple of times and have not been disappointed. we will certainly return.
My parents and I ate at Marjorie for a pre-theatre dinner and it was probably one of the best meals I've had. Tucked away in a beautiful setting, the ambience and service were wonderful. The staff diligently makes sure you have everything you need while not encroaching on the food and conversation experience too much. I had the Parsley Risotto, my father had the Pork Tenderloin, and my mother had the Halibut. We all greatly enjoyed our dishes and relished in taking tastes of each others. I only regret we didn't get a chance to try dessert as we had to be off to the show. Wonderful meal!
From ambiance to service to food to the general feel walking out, all was pleasant, personable, and well-thought out from the experience you want to be left with on your palette and your brain. Kudos all around for this quaint, quiet, delicious find within the hustle and bustle of Capital Hill (Seattle, WA).
I am so thrilled to have found Marjorie! We sat at a lovely table near a hydrangea plant and started with the bib lettuce salad, a perfect yet simple blend of lettuce, radishes, onions and dressing. Next we shared the gnocchi, and oh my goodness (mushrooms!), we could have filled up on that, but I'm grateful we had room for the Jamaican Jerk Chicken. Although we were delighted in sharing each serving, unfortunately we didn't leave room for dessert - next time! We also split a 1/2 bottle of the Sancerre which proved to be a divine pairing with the chicken. The bathroom is a must experience, you can spin records in there! We'll be back. The owner, Donna, checked in at the end of the meal and I loved learning that the the restaurant is named after her mother. Thank you Donna for creating a marvelous atmosphere and dining experience.
This restaurant is always amazing, so grateful to have this restaurant in the city for so long.
The plantains with three dipping sauces were a wonderful blend of choices.
The risotto was a wonderful blend of sweet and creamy with the figs added the the parsley.
The ricotta gnocchi with the sweetest tomatoes and corn was a favorite at our table.
Desserts were sweet and flavorful. The ice bay leaf ice cream was beautifully balanced, the bread pudding was delusions with the pieces of toffee and cream.
Service was attentive and pleasant.
We hope to return soon.
