Very good food quality. Fun to share a variety of plates. Desserts a disappointment.
This is a restaurant that never disappoints. The setting is lovely, the service is great and the food is excellent.
I have dined at Marjorie many times (probably 10). Service-wise this was the absolute worst. Unfortunately we got the bartender as our server. He was too busy at the bar to be any good to us. The final straw was dessert. We had told him multiple times we had a show. We specifically asked him how long the desserts would take. His reply? 6 minutes. 14 minutes later I told him we had to leave. He said the desserts were up. Then we did not see him again for 5 minutes. Needless to say we were unable to eat the desserts. The kicker? We still were charged for the desserts. It was insulting and maddening.
We love this place! It is our go-to for special occasions because it so so warm and friendly. Great cocktails!
Love the plantains appetizer.
Tasty food but took a long time to even get the appetizers and we were the first group to be seated (5:15). We had shishito peppers and cheese plate (both excellent), mango salad, fries (meh- not very crispy, more mushy), jalapeños hush puppies (not spicy). Two servers were team tagging us and our beet salad order got lost. I would only return bc of the location. The space is small and cute- colorful metal chairs and crowded tables. I didn’t pay so I’m not sure of the value
Gnocchi came with a very smoky sweet tomato sauce which was not described as such on the menu - very atypical and overpowering for gnocchi - fine if you like it but we didn't so were surprised and disappointed - particularly because its quite expensive for pasta. Other dishes were fine but nothing special given the price - spent $178 for 4 people with no drinks, no desserts, shared appetizers and only 3 entrees. Not worth it.
Such eclectic and delicious food! Exceptional service, super knowledgeable and so so sweet and kind. I would describe this place as laid back high end. Super comfortable and cozy with great quality everything. Marjorie herself was there, cooking up a storm and checking on her guests. The whole experience made me feel cared for. The plates are easily shareable, we tried a couple different small and larger dishes between us. A little pricier than I expected but after we recieved our food I understood why. Delicious. Great happy hour but only at the bar.
Marjorie restaurant delivered on all fronts. Cozy little spot. Probably not the best if you have a huge group, but it was so wonderful. The service was spot on. The food tasted way better than I was anticipating and I already had high hopes. I can’t wait to come back to Seattle and eat here again.
I've been here many times over the past several years and it's always outstanding. I always wonder why I don't go more often. I could not recommend more highly.
Though it got very busy, my friend and I continued to get great service as we sat 3+ hrs getting caught up. Drinks, starters and entrees were all pleasing. The place and menu are rich with traditions.
Excellent service and amazing food! Thank you Donna❣️
I went to Marjorie with friends and family for a birthday dinner. It was a perfect evening outside so we sat on the patio...which is really lovely! The menu offers many choices and something for everyone. Our server was very nice and mostly attentive. We waited quite awhile for our food but were chatting away so it wasn't really a problem, except for the person who was exhausted after a long day at work. My duck dish was very good and quite filling. Others were happy with the food except for the over-cooked burger. It was well done when it had been ordered medium rare. Our guest did not want to return it as we had already waited too long for our food to arrive. Overall, I would definitely return for a meal. Everyone was very pleasant and I loved the space. Cozy and special! Just plan on a leisurely meal.
Nice ambience lovely cocktails
Food is good, service is excellent
Fantastic food and great ambiance. The starters to share for the table are definitely filling, but the entree's are too good to pass up so prepare to eat a lot.
Just love this quaint, cozy place.
Food is fresh.
Plantain chips are a must order
The specialty cocktails are worth the trip in themselves. I'll be back for another Paris Manhattan. The entire meal was outstanding. The sublime and subtle flavors of the Burrata starter and the Watermelon Gazpacho amazed us. The service was friendly, informative and seamless, and the space itself unique and fun. Available parking within the building a nice feature. It was an evening we will long remember.
Our appetizers took a very long time -- about a half hour, the wait staff gave us another table's order twice and didn't take our mains order until very late in the meal. The lobster mushroom risotto was very bad -- watery and not flavorful. The veggie gnocchi was also flavorless. Overall, I was not happy with either the food or the service at the price, but the ambiance is great -- would go there for drinks only.
The food was fresh, delicious, and inventive, cocktails imaginative, and service excellent.
I found Marjorie by accident. When I walked in the aroma hit me first and I felt that I was someplace exotic, yet familiar. I met one of the hosts, Mike, and he's incredible. We spoke briefly but he's a wealth of information and excitement about Marjorie. I told him that I was planning& Bess at McCaw Hall) and he was excited about that and invited to come. I met Chef Francisco and he was also very welcoming and invited me to come. The menu is dynamic and unique. There's familiar dishes: steak, lamb, and jerk chicken, but they have their own unique twists. There's also duck breast and watermelon gazpacho soup that will excited your taste buds and liberate your soul! Interestingly enough, my aunt knew the owner Donna, who walked in later, and my family and I were able to meet her too. What more could I ask for?! I will going back to Marjorie!
A fun neighborhood restaurant with great food, eclectic cocktails, and very attentive service.
Cocktails- our Negronis were very well made
Olives - small but delicious plate
Steak - very flavorful cooked to perfection
Burger - added bacon, simple presentation , solid entree
Risotto- the lobster mushroom risotto was sent back, no flavor, weird texture. That’s one of the reason why didn’t give 5 stars.
Sstaff very friendly.
Had to wait almost 40 minutes for the entrees, that’s the second reason for the 4 stars
Will go back and try other dishes in the menu.
Second time I ate at Marjorie and I took a picky eater - he really liked the food. We are vegetarians and were able to find appropriate apps, entrees, and desserts. Food, staff, and owner are great. I just finished my leftover lobster mushroom risotto - yum.
great dinner and fun courtyard space we had a fabulous dinner!
The food was good, not exceptional. The service was some of the worst I’ve received in years. Incredibly slow, neglected requests for drinks, seasoning, etc even after several requests. In addition, this was a birthday celebration and I called ahead for a candle to be added to desert. The waitress brought the desert without the candle, when I whispered to her to please add the candle (in front of the bday girl) the waitress sighed heavily and took another 10 min to bring the (same) desert out with the candle added! I’ve been to this restaurant a few times with ok to good experiences and keep getting drawn back because of the ambiance. But it truly isn’t worth the rather hefty price (over $275 for 3 of us). There are many restaurants with great patios, better food and much more respectful service.
Food and drinks were fantastic and they took extra care to recognize our anniversary, all around a terrific evening.
Local Gem. The food is always excellent. Cocktails are wonderful and unique.
We just love this neighborhood restaurant. The food is well prepared and nicely presented.
A must are the plantain chips with dips. Delicious with their house margarita!
I have gone to Marjorie twice because of their beautiful outdoor patio. (The inside is beautiful as well.) This time we ended up sitting at the bar (even though we had made a reservation through open table) which ended up being better. The outdoor patio is beautiful, but some of the tables are quite close together. I appreciate that the bar stools have normal chair backs and we got great service at the bar.
It is a bit pricier than most of the other restaurants I go to, but the quality is evident in the dishes. We had the Halibut Tacos, and the Shrimp and Grits. This time we saved room for desert and it was the best part. Highly recommend the chocolate dish that comes with banana ice cream.
A disappointing return to Marjorie. Inattentive service, slow kitchen-even delivery of olives took longer than expected, when halibut arrived it was dry and music was so loud that talking to the person sitting next to you was even a challenge.
Marjorie’s is always outstanding from the drinks to the plantain chips, main courses and all the way to their delicious bread pudding. Donna is a gracious host and has created a delicious oasis that I always look forward to visiting.
My wife and I have been there a lot. As always, the food and service were great! This time, we were there to celebrate our anniversary. We started with a drink in the bar and the bartender was great and made us tasty cocktails! We sat on the patio for dinner (highly recommend) and had a wonderful time. Can't wait to go again!
Fabulous food with a great special flavor in every dish.
Food and decor:
Eclectic decor and menu...If you are expecting traditional "Soul food"...this is not it. It is an opportunity to expand your experience. The flavors were different...very earthy in a good way but not for every palate....especially for those with a traditional preference.
Service: The service was good...a little wait but dinner hour gets busy. Staff was friendly and owner was interacting with guests...delivered our dishes!!
Drinks: SUPER expensive $14 mojito and not the best I've had.
Value: For me, pricey but worth supporting a small business on a special occasion.
After reading the reviews I was very excited to try Marjorie, and was extremely disappointed by the entire experience. The service was lacking to begin with, but, having worked in restaurants extensively I tried to reserve judgement. The first round of cocktails were undrinkable, which the bartender apologized for and explained he hated the cocktails we ordered... the waitress was so hard to track down every drink after the first had to be ordered at the bar.
The appetizers came in a timely manner but the entrees took over an hour to arrive. Two shared apps for the table and one main for three people took nearly 3 hours. The waitress never offered any explanation or checked in on the table at all.
The duck was stone cold when it arrived and the chicken accompaniments were too spicy to eat (and I like spice). The atmosphere was lovely - but not nearly enough to make up for poor food and service.
Will not go back, and would NOT recommend.
Wonderful food! Creative and so good. We shared the olives, salad, asparagus soup, and halibut...all were delicious. The outdoor patio was perfect. We love Marjorie!
I've been a loyal Marjorie fan since its time in Belltown. On Saturday it did not disappoint. The duck and the lamb were perfect, and our drinks were great. Nicole was a fantastic waitress, and made sure we were well taken care of despite how busy the night was.
While more than one foodie friend has recommended this restaurant, my family and I agree it was really not that good. When you add the price on top, definitely not worth it. I wouldn’t call myself a foodie, but I like good food. My sister and I sent the gnocchi back. Maybe we didn’t know how it was supposed to be, but it was basically balls of seemingly uncooked ricotta cheese. The steak my 4 year old daughter dubbed “gum steak” and declined to have more than a few bites. She very innocently said, “when you’re chewing, sometimes then you just have to swallow it.” This from a child whose (almost) first two words were “more meat”. My sister described her dish as “bland.” I don’t always love lamb, but I’m a finisher and this lamb I just wouldn’t eat. My husband had a generally positive vibe throughout the experience, but when the meal was done said, “So, was any dish good?” It’s too bad. The ambiance is great. Also, disappointingly, neither the menu nor the server was updated that fiddleheads were no longer in season. It’s half the reason I ordered the dish I did.
Great vibe with an interesting menu. Terrific service — seriously, some of the best (and least-pretentious) service I’ve ever had
Donna, the owner, was super nice when we requested patio seating and she came and spoke with us later, herself. Our server and the bartender were lovely people and the food was really great! We had the burger and chilled asparagus soup.
Love this restaurant, warm, welcoming & delicious!
