Whether it’s for a drink at the bar, romantic evening or sharing a mean with business colleagues, Marjorie is a great destination. The staff is always friendly and menu changes regularly to capture the best seasonal food. You must order the house made plantain chips with variety of dips; in the summer they frequently have ceviche to accompany them. It’s also one of the few local restaurants where the unassuming owner will stop by your table just to check in.
Everything was amazing! As a vegetarian, I appreciate being able to enjoy lots of small plates, instead of the one vegetarian dish which is so common. Marjorie is a delight!
Despite having a reservation, we waited 10 minutes to get seated. Then we waited 20 minutes at the table and nobody checked in on us. People came in after us and had their drink order taken. But, we left to go to a place where we could drink and eat.
Marjorie is our favorite place for a cozy, relaxed but elegant meal. We have celebrated every kind of milestone there. Warm, welcoming, and delicious.
Food is descent but nothing special. Worst service I’ve had in a very long time. We were the first ones at the restaurant and waited over an hour before we got our first appetizer. Which was steak tartar, you don’t even have to cook it. Other tables got their food and left before we even got our first app. Waitress didn’t pay us any attention or even came by to check in on us. Won’t be going back.
Great drinks. Busy place with warm atmosphere. We went for Valentine’s Day so the it was Prix Fixe. Food was great. Small portions
Horrible Valentine’s Day experience. Crammed into a long table with other couples. NOT very romantic. Prix fixe was $95. 4 courses took 3 hours. The food tasted good, but the amount of food was tiny. We were still hungry after so grabbed pizza to fill up. They really over extended themselves and accepted too many reservations for their space, waitstaff and kitchen speed. Would come back for dinner on a normal night as I would like to try more of their regular menu, but I do not recommend them for a special evening- New Years, valentines etc.
The pre fixe menu was very limited and the items served were small. For example if you ordered the oysters, you got two. I had two oysters, a salad that was mostly lettuce with some apples thrown on top and some pot roast for $95. Huh?! The oysters were overly salty, the salad was blah, like they didn't even try to make it stand out. The pot roast was very good I have to say. The wait between course was ridiculous as well. At least 20 mins before the first course came then another 20 before the salad. The beef came out more quickly but only because we complained that things were so slow. I though the whole point of pre fixe was to expedite? Not the case here. Super dissatisfied with the experience and most of the food.
Delightful as always! Mikey is the best. Loved the ambience. Our favorite getaway to be ourselves.
An exciting, fun, and dynamic, seasonal menu that's sure to please. Not the largest portions but Marjorie makes up for that with good wine and cocktail options, ambiance and service.
Donna is the consummate hostess. Marjorie is spectacular!
The menu is constantly fresh, the food always inventive and delicious and the service always attentive and friendly. The owner is there almost every night making everyone feel welcome ( and sometimes waiting tables).
Marjorie is our favorite date night sitting at the bar with their wonderful bartender Michael.
This time we went as a group of six - three couples. Everyone had a wonderful time and loved the food. We were able to talk to each other across the table as well as have a conversation as an entire table. This is not as easy as it sounds. Marjorie is just the right size - not too loud, even when full.
It feels like you are in a family place where the staff all love each other. They put out food that is creative and tasty - melt in your mouth gnocchi, perfectly balanced earthy/tangy beet salad and one of the best tasting steak in town. Those that got the burger - loved it. The staff helped us choose and taste two different wines that we enjoyed but their mojito is my favorite. The plantain chips are a highlight as well.
Great service, fun atmosphere - a little noisy in a good way. Food was very good, not cheap, but high quality worth the cost. Love the history of this place.
Nice place. Will return and recommend when I’m back in town for business.
An intimate space with eclectic, colorful decor and soft lighting sets the scene for a memorable meal. The food was outstanding - fresh, creole/southern-inspired entrees with good portions. Mouth-watering meat dishes and some of the best vegetable sides I've ever had at a restaurant (The veggies on the plate are definitely not just there for "filler" or "color" - they're the star of the show). The staff was attentive, polite, and not over-bearing, which I expect from a restaurant in this price range. Can't wait to eat here again.
Unfortunately the food quality has deteriorated since our last visit. And since it was for as long as we can remember extremely expensive for what one is served, we are not likely to return very soon. Gnocchi were terrible and portions are skimpy.
On the positive side, the servers are extremely friendly and the room and the crowd is great fun. Wine and cocktails are very good. But let's face it, that's just not enough!
Very happy with setting, service and food. Will be happy to return.
We hdd dinner on New Years Eve. It was delicious, excellent service and atmosphere. I will return.
We didn’t have a dish that was disliked in our group of 6. The cocktail and wine menu is rather extensive!
Venison was perfectly cooked. Buttermilk brown sugar ice cream also paired perfectly with the homemade chocolate chip cookie. Interesting twist on classics, e.g., escargots with sundried tomato sauce for those willing to eat outside the box
The food was great and the service excellent. They wished us happy anniversary several times; everyone had been informed that we were there for a nice dinner out on our anniversary. The only food complaint was that there was a sauce on my husband's steak that he wasn't crazy about. Other than that everything was yummy.
My favorite neighborhood restaurant
Marjorie is truly a neighborhood gem. The food is creative and delicious in a cozy atmosphere.
Food was very good and service was outstanding. Get one of the steaks it won't disappoint. A little pricey but you get what you pay for!
Donna and her staff are amazing, attentive, and know their business. She obviously has a great relationship with her chef, Francisco, because their dishes come out near perfect. The menu is exciting, locally sourced, and features seasonal items too. During the summer months I believe they open the restaurant for more space. During the winter months the space can seem tight but it never gets too loud or cramped. The night my fiancée and I went was for our anniversary. The waitress recommended the Tomahawk Steak and there are not enough words in the English language to describe how amazing the steak was! I'd planned on getting the duck or the gnocchi but the steak won out! I will definitely be coming back for the duck, the lamb, and the gnocchi.
Food was yummy. Waiter was attentive but service very slow. Took an extremely long time for drinks to arrive and even longer for the bread and butter we ordered. Thought things were getting better in the kitchen but then dessert took forever. Frustrating dinner because so much to like but so much to not like.
There were 4 in our party and we had a great time. Service was very attentive while not obtrusive
Service left a lot to be desired, a lot of waiting on the servers. Tables were very close together.
Our large group had a great time at Marjorie! They put together a tasting menu and served us family style. The owner and staff were very helpful and accommodating. Food was delicious!!
very delicious meals, quality not quantity. My pork cheeks melted in my mouth and I barely had to cut them with the knife, it was like butter!
Good flavor, small portions maybe it was 3 for $33, but overall we enjoyed.
We love Marjorie! The Vesper cocktail is sublime, and the flavors beyond! I loved the black bean gnocchi!
The staff and the owner were amicable and welcoming. The vibe was outstanding.
A bit disappointing this time. We went for Restaurant Week as we often do. The Coho salmon was underwhelming in seasoning and taste, and the portion size of the fish plus everything else on the plate, in the soup cup and the dessert were especially tiny.
For fall restaurant week they presented a menu labeled for spring. Several items were not available and desserts were not served as advertised (each was meant to include a cookie). When we asked about the cookies they were out of some varieties and provided a plate of chocolate chip cookies that were rock solid. At least two drinks were undrinkable as they were too sweet or too sour. Food portions were small, even for restaurant week, leading two of my colleagues to order a side of French fries because they typically cannot be messed up.
Loved it - great food and service. Have been a couple of times and both have been great. Menu is different and tasty and I think this is great value. Well recommended
Wonderful restaurant for ambiance and food. I liked our waiter Mikey - he was knowledgeable and his recommendations were great. It took a while to get recognized at the front desk - ie one person in our party waited ten minutes before a host acknowledged he was there. Also, it was loud as far as the music goes. So, not great for a meeting.
The highest compliment I can give s restaurant is that I cannot wait to go back to eat more of their excellent food. It is small, but sincere. And the food is great
