Marisol at the MCA
Service was slow. There was only one waiter serving about 10 tables.
Great overall experience, will definitely be back. Had the octopus and a cheese spread dish as appetizers and the duck pasta and crab pasta. All highly recommended. Waiter was very helpful in the selections.
Creative food, well presented. Wonderful place to dine. My only comment is that the drinks seem to be a little expensive. Overall, a 4.999 out of 5. Try this restaurant. You'll be glad you did.
Met a friend for lunch. Ate at the bar. I had the salmon club. My friend had the marisol salad with chicken. Both were delicious.
My vegetarian eggs benedict did not have artichoke hearts as on the menu. The restaurant was way understaffed. They ran out of desserts. Ridiculous.
Wow this is an absolute gem - and inside my favorite museum in Chicago. We were very sceptic at first because it looks like a museum cafeteria from outside but we got lucky and got a table in the real dining room that has a bit more restaurant feel. Some great decor and artwork to compliment the food.
We started with the wagyu tartare, the octopus, almonds, olives, kampacha and burrata. Tartare and octopus the absolute two winners. The octopus so tender and delicious and the tartare had the right mix of meat and condiments. The kampacha was an extremely small serving. The burrata was a bit too oily for our flavor.
For maincourses we went with chicken, wagyu steak and the pasta with duck. The pasta dish was the absolute winner - fresh homemade pasta, delicious duck and a nice crunchy texture. Even our italian guest was delighted and impressed. The winelist was great with some very good italian choices.
The deserts were ok but the chocolate cake a little bit of a let down as it was quite dry and there was only two small drops of sourcream with it, but it is hard to match the fantastic selections we had throughout shared starters and main courses.
We will definitely be back and utilize MCAs amazing dining experience again.
Once again, Marisol did not disappoint! I had the beet salad and trout. The presentation was fabulous as was each delicious bite!
Food was excellent. Love the burrata appetizer. I could just live ( or die) by that! So good. The sautéed trout was also excellent.Music is a little loud for my ( senior) taste but they turned it down a bit.
Fantastic and so delicious!! The ambiance is very casual compared to the excellence of the experience. It feels like it should be more fancy for some reason?
Birthday dinner for our daughter. It was a wonderful evening. Food was delicious, cocktails were great.
Not our waitress, who was excellent but another waitress kept clearing plates before we were done. I had a quarter cup of almonds left, which I love, and she whisked it away without asking and disappeared. Not relaxing.
The food at service were great!
I am a Marisol fan. The service on my most recent visit was amazing - very attentive, smart waiter who seemed to care about providing exceptional service. The sunflower hummus - always amazing Beets with dried and fresh strawberries: very good. My friend's halibut: delicious. My pasta with crab and asparagus: not so good. Not a grain of salt had touched that dish and even with salt it was tasted of nothing. I should've said something on-site, but I just ... let it go. I'll be back though.
Marisol has hummus to live for! Not your average garbanzo concoction. There was also a surprise of Miner's lettuce in the salad. Most tasty and welcome. One of my favorite places for fine dining in Chicago!
Usually LOVE this place, but this time a tad disappointing. Ordered a sandwich, n it arrived as a very small one hidden by a heap of potato chips. The chips apparently were freshly made which is nice, but menu didn't say the sandwich came with chips so I didn't know -- and I don't care for chips. If I'd known
I would have asked for a side substitute. Instead I had my 3 bites of sandwich n was still hungry so ordered the hummus. Nicely done, wonderful flaxseed crackers but hummus a bit bitter. Service poor -- our waiter never around. At end of meal after giving us the check I saw him leave -- so had to flag down someone else to pay.
We enjoyed Marisol, before our event. The food was delicious, and the service was fantastic. Unfortunatelty, the photos make the space appear bright and airy, but it felt more dark.
Unexpectedly good. Tucked away off of Michigan Ave, Marisol was surprisingly good for a special occasion. Shared 5 small plates between the two of us which was plenty. Two drinks, dessert and coffee for a pre-tip total of $130. Plan to go back to experience more of the fine offerings.
Overall great neighborhood place. Food was only adequate
wonderful, creative and delicious menu that is not overwhelming in its choices. Emma was very attentive with a lovely demeanor. Our party of 3 had a super evening. A little loud until 8 but the. Much quieter. Booths quietest.
Great Mother's Day venue. Had a great table, great waitress - server, excellent food. Service was excellent. Everyone actually smiled... Very interesting choices on the menu. Very much recommend.
Best meal in chicago! Great location and beautiful atmosphere. Amazing food and so unique!
A light, open space with a bustling ambience and good energy. The food was excellent and the service helpful. A nice way to celebrate a birthday at the end of a long work day.
Loved the Sunflower hummus! And we had an amazing waiter!!
Wonderful food and beautiful space. A great place for a special meal and conversation.
Food was excellent. Service was great. Wonderful wine Choices.
The food is worth the try. I genuinely enjoyed my entree, Shrimp and grits. We were however, seated In the back corner of the less desirable of the sections of the restaurant and service was extremely slow. Overall ambiance was OK but you do feel like you’re eating in a museum, indoor mall etc. If food is your main motivator, it’s worth the try.
We dined at Marisol for Sunday brunch with our adult children. It could not have been lovelier. Outstanding food great service and hip classy atmosphere. Can’t wait to return.
The food was amazing! We asked the waiter to just pick for us, which I think is the way to go. Delicious!!
Excellent service, ambiance, and food. Great way to end a fantastic day at MCA!
Love this place- great location, great food, great ambiance.
This is a lovely little place both casual and elegant. The food is imaginative and delicious. I had a warm appetizer with celery root and endive that was superb! I'd brought a group of 6 after having tried Marisol over the winter. I was aching to go back! The service is excellent. Lots of fun cocktails and good wine. Only the beer offerings are a bit weak. Be sure to reserve ahead. It can get crowded.
Fantastic food, fantastic service! Marisol is always a good idea. :)
Unfortunately for us, they were out of everything my husband wanted to order: The wine and the Shrimp Grits. : (
The menu offered unique options for brunch. this is not the place for bacon and eggs. The food was well prepared and tasty. Portions were well worth the price. I was actually surprised for a restaurant in Chicago. Our server was great. I would absolutely eat there again.
the food is amazing. the service is not attentive. the noise level was too high that we couldn't enjoy the company of our friends. the table we were sat at, was too big, you only could speak with the person next to you.
The food here is unique and very worth the money. Nothing on the menu I would make myself, which makes restaurants like Marisol so special. The staff made us feel like queens. A perfect place for a foodie to grab a good glass of wine and a great bite to eat!!
I find that Marisol is consistently good for both lunch and dinner. Whenever friends visit from out of town or simply looking for a new restaurant, I recommend Marisol.
Had dinner for the first time at Marisol last month. Enjoyed it so much, I took my wife there this week, and it was just as fine. Different treatment of the mafalde, with duck, nettle, prune, and Gran Mugello this time. Fabulous. She had the casarecce with crab, yuzu kosho, and white asparagus. We shared a lovely white grapefruit salad with blood orange, feta and radish, with a light olive-based dressing. The wine selection is limited but very interesting and tasty. We ended with a hazelnut gelato with fruits and nuts; perfect with a dessert wine from the Canary Islands. Quiet, romantic, fine service. Really a top-notch dining experience in a beautiful venue.
The salad, crudo and halibut. Highly recommend. Nice wine list. Very easy to talk as well.
The food was excellent as was service. It’s a huge space inside the entryway of the MCA which was a little less charming than I’d thought it would be. It felt pretty empty on a Saturday night. But for me the most important prt is the food- Jason Hammel’s menu was outstanding and beautifully executed. Come for the food and to wander around the museum!
