I love everything about Marisol. The setting, the kind servers, the unique and delicious food.
This is probably just the pre-fixed meal for valentines but for 75 a person i wasnt satisfied with the meal.
Food was great. Service lack in being ready for first seating and not being attentive for reservations. FOH seem like they knew little of what they were bringing out each coarse.
Hi Steven, Thank you for sharing your experience & my apologies that the service & food knowledge was not up to standard—all of us at Marisol, from the service staff to the chefs in the kitchen, strive to provide the best experience for all of our guests, particularly on special days—I will share your feedback with the team. Thank you again & I hope you & your guests will join us at Marisol soon. —Simon K, general manager
Get the burrata. Skip the farro. Shakshuka.. meh.. it's unique. Just get more burrata.
Fantastic food. The service was outstanding and the decor was excellent. Definitely I’ll be back.
Ambience: comfortable and quiet
Service: friendly, knowledgeable and very attentive
Food: very good; chicken about as tender and tasty as possible
Drinks: only quibble of experience was when ordering a glass of red wine it should be minimum of 150ml and really better to be 185ml- serving 125ml in white wine glass not cool!
Good Happy Hout. Loved the chicken liver pate. Also had the yummy steak tartare ( not part of HH.
consistent from start to finish, jason h and his team have a winner and the mca needed this addition.
ps...the vermouth cocktail is exceptional!!
Made a reservation on a Saturday during Chicago Restaurants week. Excited to taste the special lunch menu, we arrived and were informed that the Chicago Restaurants week - lunch menu was not available on that day. While upset by that information, my group decided to stay and try some of their offerings. We were very satisfied with service, the food, and coffee!
What a fantastic meal! The Restaurant Week menu with wine pairings was incredible. This has become a treasured neighborhood restaurant.
The parsnip soup and risotto were excellent. The dessert choices on the prix fixe menu were uninteresting to me. I also feel the $48 price tag was high for the food options. I've gone to restaurant week before, this is the first time I felt it was not worth the money. Also, being in the MCA I thought there would at least be art in the hallways.
The hostess should say good afternoon and thank you when we leave......nothing is not right
Plus i didn’t get my points with open table
Started with a fun cocktail at the bar. The artichoke sunflower hummus with house made flax crackers were addictive.
Then on to the delicious salad.
And for our main, branzino, which we paired with the Sicilian orange wine. Perfect.
It was a leisurely meal, our server was knowledgeable and attentive.
An enjoyable evening!
What a special dinner! The Restaurant Week menu was inventive and tasty. And the wine pairings were spectacular. Service was attentive and professional. We love this place and can’t wait to go back.
Marisol's food is among the best in Chicago, with every dish done to perfection. We are particular fans of the sunflower hummus, Marisol salad, and octopus starter. Entrees change more frequently, and are uniformly good. The wine service is professional, very helpful, and unpretentious.
I wish I liked the room more. It seems like it could be anywhere, in any museum, and is sterile in that way that one may not notice at a buzzy lunch, but which is very off-putting on a snowy night. The bar warms it up, but I just prefer a little more texture, color, warmth, or interesting design in a restaurant.
That said, we'll be back. The food is just too good to pass up. (It is also so convenient to Lookingglass Theatre.)
Like this place. Only issue was dining at the bar; the bartender continuously interrupted our conversation to offer us more. Great servers know to not interrupt guests’ mid-conversation. Especially more than once. Bar was not busy; she could have waited.
Otherwise food was superb. Wine selection was underwhelming. Roll the dice.
1st time visiting. Ambiance and set up was nice. The light music in the background helped to give it a good chill vibe. Service was beyond amazing. Emma was outstanding!!!!! The food and drinks were good. We will be returning.
Fantastic food and very friendly service in a unique atmosphere. We were able to go right into the Museum after brunch. A great way to start the day.
Thought the food was just fair.
Whenever we visit Chicago we make a point to go to MCA and try to include a meal at Marisol. The food is delicious, creative and more than you would expect from a museum restaurant. This visit was no different. Our server was lovely. He went out of his way to describe the specialness of the dishes we ordered. It was the perfect way to start a rainy day at the museum!
Great evening at Marisol. Everything was wonderful, from starters to dessert. Nice, quiet ambience, super-friendly staff.
I have been dining at Marisol for several years, so I have some experience. The food is starting to wear on me. I long ago burned out on the sunflower hummus. And I had a pasta dish this time, malfede with duck and prunes that was just positively unctuous. And I do mean greasy. I think the menu needs a serious look, and get away from what I call the Chicago slick, just add a layer of unnecessary fat to make it ostensibly yummy. Let’s get back to basics, but I will say the salads were good. But too much Parmesan in the Marisol salad. The Chicago slick in action. Anyway that’s my two cents I’m going to give this place a rest. Although I do love the donuts at brunch
Honestly, the food is some of the very best we've had all year. The chef has a very deft hand with blending and layering flavors, and each item is different and interesting. The staff could not be nicer --- particularly the hostess, who helped us switch a tangled reservation and dealt with everyone in such a genuinely pleasant way...she gives a great first impression to the restaurant. The staff who bring water and clear tables were also super helpful and friendly. It was just a terrific experience.
Fabulous, inventive menu with lovely choices. This is my second time in a few weeks, and it is now my Loop/Magnificent mile go-to for dinner. Delightful ambiance, perfectly situated for going to other Loop activities (we went to Looking Glass Theatre after dinner) and delicious cocktails, too! Win,win, win, win!
MARISOL IS the perfect place to impress a new somebody special. Go to the MCA and eat at Marisol or go to Looking Glass theater for a play and eat before.
Great drink options if you choose happy hour. Committed staff. Food is always top notch especially the fried quail and sun flower hummus. Yummy
My wife have been 4 times and have never been disappointed.
Excellent lunch. The Marisol salad (with chicken) was beautifully presented and delicious - almost a work of art itself. The roasted red pepper soup was also tasty and a very generous serving. Very professional and friendly waitress.
Food and service was excellent, waitress was kind and knowledgeable. Will return!
Marisol is a real treat. The food is unusual and tasty. Wonderful flavor combinations. Highly recommend. Nice wait staff. Quiet atmosphere. Fun to be in the modern art museum.
Good food and location. It is noisy when busy.
Superb and delish in cool setting. Great innovative menu. Loved it.
We have visited Marisol several times for brunch with friends from out of town. Service and food are always good and it always adds that you can visit the museum afterwards.
Poor service. Our order was lost.
Great food - some of the best in the city - and truly exceptional service. Thanks!
Took too long to order and check out. But food was good and not as noise level was just about right.
Great service and food. Fun atmosphere for people watching!
Very knowledgeable waiter. Great atmosphere
This is one of my new favorite restaurants in Chicago! The food, service, and ambience are all incredible! My husband brought me here for my birthday dinner and it made for a wonderful date night. They went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and to make the evening feel special. This place has a great range of foods for all palates, including a bunch of creative vegetarian-friendly options. The Octopus was wonderful as well and it looked like a work of art. We will definitely be back!
Very attentive service and outstanding food- really outstanding experience!
Server forgot to bring our olives. But the host made up for it and did bring them to us and not charge us.
Wait staff person Als felt like she was rushing us out the door and it wasn’t crowded. She seem to grow more and more disinterested and almost discourteous.
The food was very good but these other two parts of our experience were negative.
It’s a great pre-theater spot, great location, so pretty & tons of parking options. The menu seems to change with the seasons so you always get to try something new!
